Dreamworld Lego Store construction
XxMrYoshixX replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Lego is in no way just for kids, it's a very popular hobby among adults (or any age for that matter). Plus, DW will be having the first official Lego store in Australia, and having been to one in the UK very recently, they are quite special. -
I'm hoping this isn't a sign of the closure of the ride, and at the moment the chance the ride gets dismantled is very slim, given we know very little about the situation. I'm thinking SW are replacing the aged signage with replacement signs. Didn't Sea Viper's logo sign remain on the station until they shut the ride and demolished the station?

I'm not surprised the media would capitalise on a roller coaster using its safety feature. After all, after what happened with TRRR, every park on the Gold Coast is on extremely thin ice to the media, and will be so down the track.

Dreamworlds Next Rollercoaster?

What kind of drugs are you on mate? -
Perhaps SW are checking for rust, cracks or corrosion on the ride like they did with Corkscrew and Bermuda. However, permanent closure is unlikely at this stage.

Sea World future attraction ideas
XxMrYoshixX replied to Flynn_Smith's topic in Theme Park Discussion
S&S Freespins are a terrible idea for SeaWorld, they'd be better off installing one of these (GaleForce at Playland), which is basically Buzzsaw but a lot better: As they are both S&S rides, I can't see VRTP buying something from S&S again after the accident on Green Lantern. The ride is about 67 metres long and 12 metres wide, so it could fit in the old Corkscrew area?? -
Granted, if a ride is closed for maintenance indefinitely at SW then it's logical for people to think it won't come back. It's already happened with two rides, and the fact that Vikings is closed for maintenance indefinitely might be just a sign that it might be closing for good.

Sea World future attraction ideas
XxMrYoshixX replied to Flynn_Smith's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If SW, or any other theme park in Australia installs a 4D freespin ride, I will be required to burn them down to the ground. I rode one at Six Flags earlier this year and they are poor excuses for roller coasters, and much inferior to proper 4D rides like X2. This is IMO a far better ride than any Zacspin or 4D free spin, and I'm fairly certain that it meets the height limit at 38 metres tall. They should be looking at this instead of a 4D Free Spin, however as both are made by S&S, I doubt that VRTP will ever buy a thing from them again following MW's mishap on Green Lantern. -
Hopefully DW doesn't pull a Eureka with TRRR and demolish it immediately and give it a replacement sometime in the future, since it wouldn't look good having two abandoned rides in one area. Perhaps they might install a genuine article Rapids ride from Intamin to replace it, with a different Gold Rush-style theme to differentiate it from the old one, or a watercoaster if they needed to go with something totally new to differentiate from the old ride. Granted, TRRR was a very popular and loved ride at closing and DW is now missing a good family ride (cough cough Rocky Hollow) that has a water element (ignoring WWW). Perhaps DW might scrap the Gold Rush theme altogether and give a new theme for the area? I doubt DW would build either option since they've invested so much cap on re-doing Ocean Parade, the Motorsports Area and the Lego store, but it'd be a great idea to build one. Although, I have no idea if this could happen. This is only idle speculation. Please correct me if this should be in the other thread, but I think this is the thread to post it on.

TRRR at Dreamworld. It's not going to open again after that accident. -
Well, based on tradition from SeaWorld who close rides for maintenance for extended periods then tear them down, Vikings looks like it may be on the chopping block. I'm not holding my breath on this, but it could happen, like Corkscrew and Bermuda before it. If that happens, then that means there are no log flumes left in the park, and the only rides left in the park are Storm, Jet Rescue and the Spongebob rides. Also @joz didn't SeaWorld base Vikings' design off Arrow log flumes? I seriously hate how SeaWorld, and VRTP as a whole, close rides without warning, it is a grand example of trolling and gives park guests the middle finger.

Goliath - Adventure World’s new Intamin Gyro Swing
XxMrYoshixX replied to Tim Dasco's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If you plan to go on a hot day, walking around the park barefoot is best avoided. Rampage's flooring, on a hot day, gets extremely hot and can seriously burn your feet. After a full day at the park walking to numerous rides barefoot I had blisters all over my feet because of the hot concrete. Now, obviously your visit is not in the middle of summer, but given Perth's climate it's a good idea to wear thongs while walking around, or bring enclosed shoes for go-karts (do they still do that rule now?). -

Park and coaster enthusiasts like us. Demon was a nothing special regular Vekoma boomerang made out of faded metal that was rough as shit when it closed down. It's now out of Australia, and it should stay that way. I can put up with a Giant Inverted Boomerang however. -

With an arguably superior roller coaster already in AW (Abyss), I would think Adventure World would have to be nuts to build an off-the-shelf 30 year old ride that would be frowned upon if AW ever installed one. -
I've thought DW could rebuild the ride entirely (Intamin still make Rapids rides), however if DW do want to put this incident behind them they shouldn't do so. With this accident we might see further modifications to Rapids rides like these to make them safe again, which is always a good thing. On the DW maintenance website it says it's down till the 30th though, so they might have plans of reopening it.

Thunder River Rapids incident at Dreamworld
XxMrYoshixX replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Fuck! That's horrible! So is this the first fatal theme park accident here in Australia since the Ghost Train fire in '79? If this death is true - say au revoir to Dreamworld and the ride the incident occurred on (rapids or rocky hollow), since we all know the GP doesn't like going on rides that have had big accidents on them (Green Lantern is an example) -

Actually, that place was a furniture store by that time. I recall it having "SGA" on the building back in those days. The rides and arcade games got auctioned off back in '01 and most of them are in Bangladesh or somewhere else in Asia.

Well to be fair, the simulator opened not long after the park opened and was themed to Burton's Batman franchise, however Spaceshot was themed to the Nolan Batman franchise. With this pattern, we can confirm a Batman ride which will be themed to Zack Snyder's shitty take on Batman. -
