The issue with the single lap bar was if there was an adult and child sat next to each other, the child could easily climb out of the seat because it wouldn’t come down all the way. That was the same issue that road runner had. Yes the new system will slow loading/unloading down, but with the increased safety restrictions, it had to be done

I’ve heard that all this helped the parking situation greatly tonight, but it was still slow getting into the park. It seems like they definitely over sold for the event this year

It is indeed, but the carriages are hell of a lot lighter and I believe the train will be going the opposite way around the park, so it will just roll down the hill

No, that would be the south side of the tower. The west side is the side facing the highway, east side faces the ocean.

It would have been better if they had at least put some larger rocks and plants, but it seems the budget situation did not permit. But I think it would have definitely been worth while. It was very hot walking through this space too. Some shade and seating to watch the coaster would’ve been nice because it’s awesome watching the train go over you

With the pathway open, it’s great how close to the coaster you can get

DW are already implementing new procedures to help with the parking issue. They have opened up the access road to Blue Lagoon park as extra parking. They are reducing the entry road to one lane. They have traffic control directing traffic down the first row so cars have to use the back half of the carpark. This is to allow day guests to exit easily and then Halloween guests fill the front car parks first. They have also removed the fencing that was used to store ST track.

Next years schedule was published back in May. There is already a topic discussing this.

Looking at this again, it appears that the roof/queue shelter slopes down in the centre, which could be creating a central waterfall, which would be awesome. Like this on a much smaller scale. I think the key to the theming will be waterfalls, rockwork, statues and landscaping. If they can get as much as that as possible throughout the rest of the area, it should be a nicely themed area. The way the ‘story’ could be interrupted is Vortex is at the shoreline (which is why there is a sand look floor as you enter the area) and then as you venture further into the area, you get deeper into the New Atlantis and Leviathan is the monster at the bottom of the ocean.

Does that mean when the ride is down for maintenance, it will be closed for longer periods compared to a steel coaster

That would work to an extent, but because the parking lanes are one way, that red arrow misses quite a lot of parking. Everything I’ve highlighted in blue can only be accessed when you take the outer road

I wasn’t suggesting DW do something to fix the surrounding roads, because as you say it’s out of their control. I was more getting at the council/government need to do something again.

9,000 tickets Round up to 2,100 car park spaces 9000/2100 = 4.29 people per car. So their carpark only really works if there were 4-5 people per car. That ain’t going to happen. They probably needed 2,500 car spaces to make it work. But that still doesn’t fix all the issues with the surrounding roads. It doesn’t help that you have to pass the park entry to enter the car park rows, so that’s a lot of people crossing the road where people are wanting to turn to get to the carpark spaces. MW and SW don’t have that problem as their car parks direct traffic away from the park entry. Hopefully DW have got a better plan and it works better for them this weekend.
