Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
DWP replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I mentioned in the other DW thread about how the back doors of Eureka were open this morning while I was on the tiger walk and was largely empty back there apart from some water dummies which could be the same ones we've seen for awhile. Perhaps the long line for TRR could be due to the fact that it didn't open until about midday as around 11:30 a lot of the course was dry -

Also I decided to lash out as I'm not likely to be back at DW until this time next year so did the Tiger Walk this morning which was truly amazing stuff and while it is pretty damn expensive (with at least a great deal of that goes to their Tiger Wildlife Conservation stuff which is a very good cause) it is def worth doing. Anyway was talking to the keepers and the DW rep and found out some info (I think as apologises if this is old news) about the new Tiger Island re-development that's due to start construction in the next 2 months. The plan is for a coliseum style arena with plenty of seating and a new shop which will be the entry and exit point for the area. The tiger area itself is getting a redesign as well with a new pool area and apparently more room for the tigers to move around however the keepers were unsure about the future of the tiger shows while construction is going on with their belief that the shows and area itself will be gone for the 3-4 month construction phase which will be a blow for DW but by doing this over autumn/winter will mitigate that somewhat. And judging by the fact that at least one of the tigers is getting spooked by the building of one of the Comm Games stadiums nearby the tigers back of house area it would seem very unlikely any type of shows from them. Also to possibly solve a question from the Eureka re-opening thread while on the tiger walk the giant 'back doors' of Eureka were open and it was essentially empty other than a set of water dummies which could be where the ahem "famous" dummies have moved to. -

Yeah that's the thing as I saw people at the top of the Bro tower all day as well but isn't there another slide on that tower as the water was never running on the Bro and I swear I saw a sign saying it was shut. A shame as well today that Buzzsaw wasn't back open as had been hoped and the problems that kept Pandamonium shut all day and Claw shut for nearly the whole day as well -

Haha yeah was about the same for me ? And def a good call on the TOH and Little Rippers tower as was the most enjoyable and loved the rippers ? Triple Vortex was a bit of a dud as too slow and a shame the Bro was shut and not sure if starting off my slides with the Wedgie was a good idea but certainly was an intense start lol -
http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/60-Corkscrew/gallery/sort/newest/location/ride-251/offset/42 Not sure if the photo will show up as posting from my phone but this photo from this very site seems to show that it is indeed Corkscrew although it seems as if they've photoshopped the corkscrew logo off the front car and changed the colour of the waves/pattern on the side from red to blue. As for GL I'd be surprised if it was up and running by Xmas so I'd agree at a year minimum

When I was at SW on Wednesday I noticed a truck with a shit load of scaffolding/fencing etc in the old sea viper area while I was on the lift hill of Storm so could be related to some way but I'd also agree that it's probably related to Creatures of the Deep than a new ride

Prob the wrong thread for this but kinda somewhat related to DW (sorry I know it's a tenuous link) but going to DW on Friday and with the expected hot weather was thinking of popping into WWW. Was wondering if anyone knew how many of the slides/tubes etc. allow for single riders only as when I went to WnW solo I was disappointed that maybe only about 2-3 slides were able to be done. So wondering if it's worth my time going in or just sticking to DW? -
Yikes didn't realise there was so much love for JL but I should clarify that the ride is good for what it is but rail shooter type of rides generally don't intrest me in the slightest but can appreciate that others do enjoy that kind of ride. It still doesn't change the fact that MW is lacking in variety of rides. Back on topic has there been any word if any of the other El Locos around the world have been shut down/had their operation suspended while they check what happened or will that only happen once they find out exactly what happened with GL?

Adventure World 2015 - 'Mi2' Kraken Tornado slide
DWP replied to Tim Dasco's topic in Theme Park Discussion
My pleasure Mark as was very happy to pass on how enjoyable I found your park and again I find it incredible that the actual CEO of a park is here and responding to guests/customers which is pretty much unheard of in corporate Australia. After my trip to MW this week and it's falling standard it won't be long before AW moves up a spot haha and will force me to make the long and costly trip across to Perth from Sydney more often ? -
Just coming back from Movie World now and the damaged train had been removed from the track and saw a couple of workers throughout the day on and around the tracks but not as much activity as I'd thought. As an aside it really shows the limited nature of rides at MW now with GL and Batwing down which essentially leaves 4 rides for adults to use (not counting JL as ain't much of a ride IMO) and from about 2:30 to near closing time Scooby was down as well which left SE,AA and WWF and inflated those queues (well not WWF) and combine that with the horribly slow load and unload times made a somewhat quiet day busier than it needed to be. Anyway I'll get off my soapbox and stop whinging now ?

Adventure World 2015 - 'Mi2' Kraken Tornado slide
DWP replied to Tim Dasco's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Was in Perth last week on holiday and went to AW for the first time. Really really enjoyed the park and I would rate it as the 3rd best park in Australia (that i've been to) behind only MW and DW. Can echo the statements of the head banging on Abyss which did give me a headache after awhile but as mentioned the G forces it produces lends itself to things like that happening but still is a fantastic ride. The Rampage was pretty insane as was expecting it to be more Wipeout style but felt much more intense and led to a spew from a fellow rider lol although those shoulder restraints are pretty damn uncomfortable and led to a bit of brusing on my shoulders but didn't stop me riding it a few times haha. All the other rides were open and running and were all enjoyable as was the water slides which while basic were super fun and barely any wait times on everything. Although the single tube slide (I forget the name) was a bit of a let down as much slower than expected and way too many places to get stuck/slow down and needing the person behind to push you along again. The staff as mentioned by everyone was beyond awesome. Literally the greatest staff I've seen in not only a theme park but in pretty much any retail setting i've seen and having worked in retail for nearly 15 years i've seen some good and bad staff. Massive thumbs up on them. Overall I really enjoyed AW and highly recommend it to anyone going to Perth and when I next vist Perth again, it will definately be a part of all future plans. -
Eh my 1am humour made me laugh but I am easily pleased so...

Can you imagine that thing breaking down with a car near the top and one of the seemingly endless Florida thunderstorms rolling in? Yikes!

Luna Park Sydney - the future with Wet'n'Wild
DWP replied to JulieLovis's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Damn what horrible news this is for LPS. While I can accept LPS's mis-interpretation of what they can and can't do but you'd still think they'd double check with the planning dept anyway just to be doubly sure. I take it that Hair Raiser is now shut down for the immediate future and hopefully the DA application process and community consultation period doesn't take long but judging by that wet fish in the article then I'm sure they'll find reasons to try and get it canned -

Having spent the last few NYE's as a more quiet time I decided to lash out a bit this year and got tickets to the Harbour Party at LPS. The music on offer isn't that enticing but the location and getting to ride the rides all night and early morning is exciting, just gotta fight my way through the drunk douchebag teenagers haha The old UFO spot will be a great spot for a drink and to see the fireworks and likely the one and only time this will be possible. The last few holiday rides at LPS have been quite good as Freak Out was fantastic and wished it was a permament fixture and good to see Pirate's Revenge is back as I remember it was quite popular the last time it was at LPS. Either way the future for the park is looking promising -

According to the website for the NYE Harbour Party event there won't be any new rides in the old UFO spot till at least January of next year -
Hopefully Dreamworld's hired goons didn't get to Skyra for saying things he shouldn't have as haven't seen him on since his initial flurry of activity "hired goons?"

Parkz News Sea World's Sea Viper closes after 32 years
DWP replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Good to see the Demon is still going (somewhat) strong somewhere around the world as have a fondness for that ride as it was the first steel coaster I ever rode and my 3rd coaster ever after Beastie and Bush Beast at Wonderland, but def not an option for SW though. The B&M Zeppelin would be great if SW looked past it's already (barely) used status and would just need a new non rock band name to go along with it's sweet white and blue colour scheme. Tidal Wave and Tsunami are probably not quite PC enough (or original for that matter) but maybe base it around a killer whale that is caught in a storm (what a cross promotion!) and then finally SW will have a killer whale in Australia -

Sad to see any ride go and was lucky enough to have scraped in as my first ever ride of it was in September last year so sadly I seem to have missed it's better days as the Corkscrew. Excited about what might replace it but with the recent outlay on Storm I'd guess it could be a few years before anything takes it's place. And while it would be great if they could use both the old Sea Viper area and the reclaimed land area for 1 big ride, in my mind there seems to be a few roadblocks to overcome as I'd guess they'd need the reclaimed land to be settled and strong enough to handle the likely weight that would be placed on it and while I have no idea how long a process that takes, it still is a roadblock. And also because the monorail track runs between the 2 areas there would likely be heavy disruption on that attraction if a ride was going in both areas as the monorail seems to be quite popular especially with the overseas tourists. But ultimately who knows but now the fun part of anticipating a new ride begins! -
That's awesome news Jakev8 about a second season of Mega Truckers. Wth any luck you might get a bit more air time this time although with that many trucks now would be tough I'd imagine. What would be cool though is if they ended up filming the pick up and movement of the new ride from the Brisbane docks to DW as if the new ride is the Sky Fly as is the assumed choice at this point then the giant arm that is the swinging mechanisim would certainly be a good visual on the truck and more importantly would be an interesting story for a reality/observational TV show which thrives on things like that. Even though by the time it aired the ride would have already been up and running it would still be pretty interesting viewing

Luna Park Sydney - the future with Wet'n'Wild
DWP replied to JulieLovis's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thanks for the update Julie. I did the Bridge Climb last Saturday night and it was quite cool having the colours on the bridge change every minute or so coming from Luna Park. Looking from the bridge back down at the park it looked great but would look even better if Hair Raiser was all lit up but I understand the reasons why it isn't. Glad to hear something is being done about Flying Saucer and a replacement is coming but just as long as it isn't Reef Diver with a new coat of paint as that would be a major let down for a park that is doing a lot of good things at the moment. Good to hear that Tango Train is back to full operation as last time I was there it was in the every second car empty phase and only forwards but seems like it's on it's last legs which is a shame
