It was the first place many felt the pang of anxiety before launching down a whitewash of water, being swayed and swung around before safely splashing into a pool of water and being told to get out of the way of the next person by a diligent lifeguard. Park owner and founder Jim Eddy can only estimate "millions" when asked on how many people would have travelled the slide in its lifetime. While not having the glitz and glamour of the new "whiz bang" modern slides like The Perfect Storm or the Funnel Web, Splash Out has been a family favourite for over four decades. Alas, all good things must come to an end. Splash Out is now in its finals days. It will be disassembled over Jamberoo's winter break to make way for a new $10 million attraction, Velocity Falls, which will be built in its place. "Splash Out was the third waterside in Australia," Mr Eddy remembered this week. "There was one in the Gold Coast and one in Coffs Harbour and the people who built the Coffs Harbour one built ours." In its earliest incarnation many would remember Jamberoo was a grass skiing park, a fad which seemed to come and go as quickly as it appeared across the country. "We built the grass ski park which opened in 1980 and the drought hit us pretty hard ... we couldn't put enough water on the grass to keep the grass growing," Mr Eddy said. "We looked around for alternatives, I saw the waterslide in Queensland and on driving back down the coast I saw the one in Coffs Harbour. Drove past on way home, sx360 was running, couldn’t tell if people were riding it or it was in being tested but it’s great to finally see it running at last. Hopefully they will announce something soon as well as the spinning coaster

It does like like the frame that held the arkham asylum name in place on tower.

Water effects were fully working on my visit in early December. Scooby had around some lasers type lights in December as well, not the same lasers it had in the past but it did have some working in December, they mostly were used just after the turntable in the disco room.

Been to movieworld Friday and today (saturday), green lantern ran all day yesterday and still open today. Wild West falls water sprouts for old fateful are not working again, you can hear them trying but no water in the system. Scooby doo ride has no lasers working in disco room.

Im taking the family on second night, tho it’s a shame storm coaster doesn’t run at night but it is my first chance to finally come to this event and it sounds like it will be a good event

I was there on the 2nd of January, green lantern didn’t have problems during the whole day/night. So I wonder what is causing so much down time lately, especially when it was closed for many months.

Was there Saturday and water effect wasn’t working and didn’t look like it has for awhile, so you were extremely lucky to see it working.

I’m doing both seaworld and movie world in the same day today but I feel both operate totally different COVID plans. Seaworld filled all seats on vortex, storm coaster and jet rescue. So we had to have other people seat next to us without spacing. Movie world keeps groups separated so if we had 3 in our group on coasters we would have a empty seat next to us for COVID socially distancing. seaworld rides lineups move so much faster with 30min or less waits cause of filling seats but movieworld it’s taking around about 1 and a half hour wait for most rides cause of empty seats. I’m happy to sit next to others but no so sure about how everyone else feels about this?

Finally got to go on vortex today, was little or no wait. It is a shame it’s such a short cycle being used at the moment but hopefully they do use different during the year.

I went on the 13th and it pretty much the same as last year, only this year less there was less rides open this year on my visit (green lantern, doomsday, Scooby and now retired Arkham closed) but Wild West falls open till 630. That shop always changes to white Christmas for personalised Christmas hats during white Christmas My visit was wet but bonus every ride was walk on without any lineup needed

It’s not great when white Christmas event is about to start and and so many major rides are closed for 14 out of 19 of the white Christmas nights with Scooby reopening for last 3 nights and doomsday for last 5 nights depending if there maintenance is completed on time.

Unlikely since Aussie world’s other new ride still hasn’t opened when sx360 construction started in 2018

Dreamworld are planning to focus on being a smaller theme park, so I expect this is the last big ride dreamworld will add for there foreseeable future. Especially when the $70 million loan they got from the government is meant to be repaid in a few years.

Yeah wishful thinking, It would be a great replacement for arkham at movie world

It was original meant to be installed at seaworld but I doubt they would spend money moving it to another park.

It will be great for the jobs that come from building the coaster but let’s hope there are no delays in the next 12months, if it does open chrismas 2021. Last few new rides to open in Qld all missed there planned opening dates.
