  1. Food for thought: One of the changes since the cheap local passes came out is that Village is no longer competiting with itself. People aren't going to go to one park or the other anymore, they just get the VIP pass and go to both. Having attractions opening at the same time at different parks compliment each other now, making the VIP pass seem like a more compelling product, rather than canabilising each each other, so it's perhaps not an unthinkable thought to have major attractions opening at different parks at the same time anymore.
  2. Well depends what the theme is. I mean if they decide to theme it to Arkham, than the same colours would be totally appropriate. If it were themed to Wonder Woman on the other hand, the dark grey wouldn't be right at all. FWIW, I think it's a good colour for the theme, and painting it garish colours is not needed. If you want a park that's painted random bright colours, go to Dreamworld and see how crap it looks.
  3. I think the other thing might be what your expectations were. If you're going on thinking "this is going to be really rough" and it's not too bad then you'll be pleased. I don't think it's as bad as LW, and for me it's still pretty smooth, but the trains are uncomfortable, and to me highlight a couple of jolts that in 100's of rides I'd never noticed on corkscrew.
  4. Yeah I really like Aussie World, and I'm glad it's getting such good reviews. There's no reason why it shouldn't either; It's got a pretty decent line up of rides, all the rides appear very well looked after, and the ride ops are incredibly friendly. IMHO the only thing it's missing is a big headline roller coaster, but as it is it's a great family park and I really hope they do well. I'm glad Village didn't turn the place into a water park, and I'm glad they didn't buy it and operate it. The folks at Aussie World have their stuff together run a great little park.
  5. Haha cheers, I try and keep the rides as realistic as I can, I don't really enjoy the over the top creations that are out there. Having said that, 4 bunny hills in a row is probably stretching what is realistic a little bit. I like that ride anyway. As for the resurgence, well I can't talk for everyone but I know for me it was watching videos on YouTube, and seeing some of the other cool stuff out there kept me playing (Insert favorite RCT3 vid ever): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AI3usOTkQxg. I've never been a full time player of the game, and I'm still not, but I don't mind having a muck around for a couple hours. Now I have a computer that can run mid size parks well, along with all the custom content floating around it's not an awful way to spend a bit of time. As far as the videos are concerned; I want to get to learn some stuff about YouTube for something else I'll be doing in the future, so figured why not experiment by uploading some of the stuff I've already done?
  6. Don't worry I get your sarcasm Brad, I even loled.
  7. It didn't open with one, and operated without one for nearly 20 years, but in leiu of common sense, the famously neurotic legal department imposed a 95cm min height in the last few years of its life.
  8. ^ In my defence, I don't really care Anyway I'm probably due for another video. This one is a ride out of a park I'm working on, but got rid of since it didn't fit the park. The land the station is in is themed as a beach/cove, and this ride was just a generic coaster with no attachment to the theme. It also infringed on the sightliness of the western themed land next door, so as much as I liked this ride, it had to go. Think of it as a deleted scene from my upcoming park, enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=695_FAymfpo
  9. Looks good, I think your parks a getting better, looking forward to seeing that ride
  10. qldtaw, I don't use Facebook as a basis of my argument, but many do. I'm just saying why it's not unreasonable that people do, since that's the only publicly available information. I probably shouldn't have said 'we', but I did so my mistake. It's also worth noting that only a very small percentage of people will go to the effort of liking something on Facebook for the sake of complaining. But thanks for playing along anyway.
  11. We've only got the facebook page to go off so that's what we're going to go by, but I think to say the average once every two years visitor hasn't noticed that there are less rides now than there used to be is an under estimation of the public. It's worse at SW where the train tracks and Betmuda act as a rusting reminder of what the park used to have, but it's still true at MW and DW that people know that there used to be something there, and are dissapointed there's not now. How dissapointed is up for debate but I think the parks would do well to plug those holes sooner rather than later.
  12. I agree with Alex's post 100%, those people saying 'but it's just an El Loco' should read from the 'old v new arguments' onwards in Alex's post to understand what's going on.
  13. ^ Haha I like that. What is go via anyway? Honestly don't know how long it took, I've been tinkering with it for months, sometimes for hours at a time and sometimes for 5mins. I'll add some themed files soon, at least the ones I know are hard to find these days.
  14. G'day there, so inspired by reanimated's thread, I've decided to make another thread for all my stuff Obviously those on this site will know about Shipwreck Island: My newest ride however is "Rat Race" A launched mini coaster, check it out! As always, feedback welcome! - Joz
  15. I mentioned spelling and punctuation because that's what can be policed directly. We don't want to get into the business of deciding which posts are worth reading and which aren't, since everyone's idea of what makes compelling reading is different, and again given the topics are active (apart from the ones we've closed) I don't see a problem with the content. I also should say I think Jacko is copping it a bit here, there seem to be a couple young members who've joined up and are producing about the same level of comments at about the same time. Welcome guys! Just keep in mind spelling, punctuation and how interesting your post is when ou post, and we'll all get along fine.
  16. A ton of his threads are active, and we haven't really said anything about bad grammar up till now, so don't give me the 'you're all so unwelcoming' tripe. We genuinely welcome Jacko's contribution, but we want this site to skew towards people who can spell and express themselves reasonably well. We don't expect perfection, and I'd be a hypocrite if I did, but we don't accept 'l33t' or really bad stuff because it's not enjoyable to read. We want Jacko (and you) to keep posting. But we want him (and all members) to at least be mindful of spelling and punctuation, and how easily your posts can be read. We will always want quality over quantity, it's as simple as that. If you don't want to comply, that's fine; there are a million YouTube videos you can comment on, or Facebook groups you can join and we wish you all the best. If you want to post here, then you have to put thought and effort into your posts. Gazza may have expressed that in a way which I guess could be interpreted as a personal attack, but I don't think it was, that's just the way Gazza talks and as far as I'm concerned, that's the end of it. I'll split this off if I have to, but in the meantime let's get back to talking about, wait, what was this topic about again?
  17. The thing that gets me about the SV trains is they aren't comfortable to sit in even when the train is still in the station. Whoever the guy was who thought seats which dig into you at a stand still would be great on a coaster has a very warped view of reality.
  18. I think it works fine for GL too. They just need to not stack, and that's not an easy trick to pull off with the way checks are performed and how long unloading takes. I think they'll be doing well to not stack with 4 trains, and they'll be doing very well to run 6 with with only minimal stacking. As it is I think they've been doing an ok job of it, but agree with Spotty that trying to add a 5th train was a bit silly though, gotta give them credit for trying I guess. Hopefully then can get that down to an exact science and get trains on and off the track in 5/10 mins or so, but with the cumbersome operations procedures preferred by Village, I do wonder if the ability to add extra capacity quickly is a pipe dream.
  19. It was just old and needed replacing. Remember there's a lot of moisture and chlorine in the air around water rides, both of which are very corrosive.
  20. I actially really like that idea, at last gotham cafe will fit with the theme, even if it is the longest, most odly themed land in the world. Now we've solved that issue we just need to figure out where a new land for 'the Hobbit' should go. I reckon that hill behind Lethal could become the Shire quite easily...
  21. I can settle this, there's always been a screen sheild there, and it was replaced in the last refurbishment.

Thanks MBA2012! I'm working on a new park, it's a bit more ambitious in scale and probably won't be finished for a while yet. I've got most of the park done but it needs so many little details added its a long way off. Can honestly say I've only finished 2 rides in the new park but they're both a big step up from anything at Shipwreck Island so hopefully it'll be worth the wait!! As for a boat ride themed to an abondoned island; I normally don't have much success with water rides but the new park does have a themed water ride as a central feature.

I don't think I adjusted the land when I started building the scenareo, so if the defult option is 160X160 then that's what I've got. As for my computer, try not to laugh too hard: 2.40GHz 3GB ram NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT Windows 7 Home Was a decent computer 2 years ago, but is well overdue for an upgrade, and an upgrade is on my 'to-do' list along with a thousand other things. In the meantime, from Shipwreck Island, Sand Storm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbVkbZ6izdc

As promised I've added a couple more rides: The Woodchip wooden coaster, driftwood kiddie coaster, and the next monorail leg are now up for your viewing pleasure. Again, simply click the annotations on the 'Park map' video to check out the rides Let me know what you think!
