Universal Studios Singapore
I've been to Universal in Orlando and left thinking it was pretty average at best. This on the other hand looks quite awesome. Didn't think this park would interest me at all, but I fear I might be going to Singapore sooner rather then later...

WhiteWater World not out of the loop
Aren't WWW trying? Basically what they're doing is giving the middle finger to WVTPs. While I don't have a problem with that, and they are by no means the first company to want to do this, they're pretty much pissing away their own money in doing so. I think GoGoBoy said it best The funny thing is they could add a Lazy River better then Calypso Beach, they could add a family raft slide better then Mammoth falls, the can add tube slides better then Black Hole, but instead they're adding an inferior version (in capacity if nothing else) of what WnW is getting. How did that meeting go? "WnW are stealing the looping slide thing from us. Don't worry, we'll show those bastards and build our own anyway!" Sorry to point out the obvious but WnW is by far the dominant water park on the Gold Coast, and WWW have nothing to gain by doing the same thing WnW do since WnW is starting from a much stronger position.

Bermuda Triangle
The steam itself wasn't gas, but the gas powered the boiler. Agreed though, the feeling of bursting through on the drop down really made for a great ending to the ride.

Bermuda Triangle
^ The fire and the Steam both work off the gas, so no gas = no fire or steam.

Bermuda Triangle
Thing is that rides and effects will break or glitch from time to time. It would be nice to think everything will work 100% all the time, but really, the effects are being triggered 100s of times a day, day in day out. So things break, I don't have any problem with that, so long as they get fixed as soon as it's practically possible. The problem is that things aren't being fixed for weeks / months / years at a time. We're now at the point that everything has been put off by 'management' (Given the apparent lack of direction or indeed, competence, I sadly must use the term management loosely) for so long that to get Bermuda back to even a reasonable level will cost some serious money. Money I think they've put off spending for too long. The other thing that I'm sure goes through the mind of the guests and is well worth asking is 'if they are willing to save money by not maintaining the stuff the guests can see, then what is there to suggest that the stuff guests can't see is being maintained?' I mean the track record of doing things that cost money but benefit the park in the past year and a bit is pretty much non-existent. We know they wouldn't spend money on fixing Pirate Ship once it needed it, and to justify fixing Corkscrew they gave it a new name and marketed it like it were a new ride. The company didn't want to invest a relatively small amount of money to rework the resort water park entrance and fix a few meters of track so the train was permanently closed. Renting a 4D movie and washing glasses at MW too expensive? Easy, just put a home made doco in the theater, and hey, if that ski show is too expensive why not just put some cheap diving show in? And while we're at it, we've got 3 Monorails, but buggered if we're using more then one unless it's super busy. With what a poor state the place is in it's no wonder the Official SW facebook group has less members then the Bring Back the Seaworld Ski Team group. With any luck someone at SW shows some leadership and decides money must be spent to fix the place, and Bermuda is the place to start.

Cairns water park seeks approval
Another update on the water park, and this time it looks like someones crawled out of the woodwork to lodge an appeal: http://www.cairns.com.au/article/2010/01/3...local-news.html I'm starting to think that no new park of any sort will ever open in Australia. It seems no matter where anything is proposed there's always a minority of people who manage to kill new parks off. Hopefully this one makes it through, it looks like a fantastic little park, and I think would be a real boon for domestic tourism in the area.

WnW 2010: Aqua Loop, Flowrider, Zipline, Skycoaster
I like that instead of doing the normal thing of pretending nothing is going on Wizard of Oz style ( ), they've come out early and said what it is. With any luck we can see some destruction/construction updates and the like, since this is such a good addition for WnW and I think it would be a shame if it were under advertised. I've said in the past that WnW should look more at adding wet rides (Splash Battle, Wet Topspin, Shoot the Chutes) to drive attendance since they won't see any sort of attendance boost from another water slide. Having said that, I reckon these have the potential to give WnW a big attendance boost for the year if it's marketed well. So far they've announced that they are building them, so that puts them miles ahead of where they normally are. Keep it up!

What's new for 2010
So that pretty much rules out a bobsled coaster. Everything else is still on the table though..

Sea Viper - New Ride
lol The first resut is classic: But yeah but lets be honest about Corkscrew though, what's gone on there is more of a leg transplant with some spray tan.

LW CLOSED
I haven't seen the second train back since it cclosed. Wouldn't surprise me if the one train on the track is effectivly a 'Purple Train', IE the red and blue trains mixed together.

Michael Jackson Themepark
That's pretty racist. Just because he's was a middle aged white guy doesn't make him a peadofile.

Sea Viper - New Ride
Given the extra bars and things that have been put on the train to keep your arms in, I suspect a fully outstretched arm would reach it.

Good things to say
Not sure exacrly when it finishes, but at the end of this month rings a bell. I did get to see Kasey Chambers. Given I'm not really a Chambers fan and this is a positive thread, I think I might keep my thoughts to myself on that one

Good things to say
A week or so late but have to agree that MW appears to be in great shape at the moment. Adding the studio tour for the holidays is a great thing to see, (hopefully a sign of things to come), pity it hasn't had half the publicity that Kasey Chambers got as I think that it may be the best short lived attraction the park has had. HSD is also now a decent rounded show, Scooby was running better then I've seen in a very long time. Some areas still need work (Looney Tunes WWF and LW come to mind) but on the whole, I was impressed with what I saw. Keep up the good work!

Sea World ski stars sunk by pirates
The show opened about a month ago to what can, at best, be described as pretty poor reviews. I think they would have to be crazy to give the show any sort of prominence in the advertising. It really cannot be expressed just how bad this show is. It's doesn't fit the venue at all, there are several points in the show which make no sense at all, and the story is just stupid. It's all a bad excuse to watch people doing some unimpressive tricks on a trampoline and jump into the water from the ship. Luckliy, I get the feeling that this one won't be around too long. I just hope that when it does go away someone at the board meeting pushes for a ski show. At least if the story of a ski show doesn't engage, there's still the spectical of seeing a guy doing a backflip while flying thirty meters through the air that makes the show watchable. There's nothing in Pirates Unleashed that can save it, and by the end of the show I was wishing someone had kept the pirates on their leashes. Funnily enough the one highlight of the show took place on a jetski, and is a recyled joke from ski shows past.

Dreamworld introduces peak and off-peak pricing
Alex, I totally disagree with you I think its a good idea given it may help to even out the attendance levels during summer. I don't have an issue of peak and off peak pricing, though it depends on how much they are planning on making it. If the normal price stays the same this year and the peak price isn't to much of a premium then I have no issue at all. No the idea of a different price depending on the time of year doesn't bother me in the slightest so long as its not excessive. Having said that, the age for free entry being reduced sucks hard, (and I don't care if that now brings it into line with WVTPs it still sucks), and if the peak pricing finishes on Jan 26, then why does the MTV show finish Jan 22?

Sea World Corkscrew replaced by new attraction

Water Park PRE Wet'n'Wild
Hmm, must say I'm drawing a bit of a blank here. The only thing I can think of is are you sure you're not thinking of Wet 'n' Wild back when it was called Cade's County? I know that's outside of your 1981/2 thing, but I'm not aware of any other water park on the Coast that far back. I doubt Paradise Island would have had much in the way of water slides, and given how far away Surfers is I'm guessing it wasn't the slides that were attached to the Paradise Center. I've read a few books on Gold Coast history and have never seen anything about a water park before WnW. Not saying there wasn't one, but I'm not aware of it. Sorry

Sea Viper - New Ride
Adding a new train is an upgrade, and there are a bunch of other things happening 'Under the hood' which I doubt many people will notice, so there most definitely is an upgrade going on. Whether this effects the ride experience significantly (or even a little bit) remains to be seen, though with the words "Exciting new attraction" on the website, one would hope so for Sea World's sake. I'd hate to be the poor bugger in the park who has to explain to confused guests that the "Exciting new attraction" has in fact been there for 27 years now.

Sea Viper - New Ride
Nah, given it was closed over the busy Xmas period last year, I'd assume they discovered a catastrophic problem then and the only way to make it an economical permanent repair was to re-theme it. After spending so much money it'd have to be a pretty major problem to abandon the ride now. Gazza, shame how they missed the important bit that mentioned how it was an upgrade to corkscrew rather then a new attraction.
