  1. Pointless thread is pointless.
  2. Ride evacuations (I'm not calling them ride unloads) were down 38% last year which is dandy. They also quote the number of guests they had last year and how many rides people go on rides. You think that's to set you up for them to tell you how many ride stops they had or how many guests they evacuated off a ride and in doing so prove how rare it is, and how it's not so rare that it's scary. They do however skip that step presumably because that saying it happened around 500 times (guessing) sounds bad and instead they go straight into an out of context stat about having a 0.0004% chance of being involved in a break down (do they mean per visit or per ride taken?). If I was a maths teacher I'd fail them for failing to show their working. It's not a total waste though, if they ever install an elevator into the admin building they now have something totally inoffensive and bland to play during the trip.
  3. It's interesting the role people think Dreamworld's themeing has to do with their downturn. Just throwing it out there, but Dreamworld's mismatched themeing isn't why they're in trouble, and I don't think creating that cohesive theme throughout the park's different lands will help them get out of trouble. Dreamworld has 3 things which it needs right now, to demolish TRR and Gold Rush country in general, reopen or demolish the log ride (re-opening can now wait till it warms up) and to put some attraction where Gold Rush was so the park has something new to market, and the park also doesn't feel like a large chunk of it is closed. What attraction should they replace Gold Rush country with? There are probably as many answers as there are members on this site, and even then most of those answers are wrong. Personally I'd say don't blow the bank on whatever they do as whatever it is won't see massive returns, so give the area a pioneer town theme (which would mean buzzsaw could stay unchanged) and move Model T lane up there so they could have a cheap, sprawling ride with a bit of kenetic energy to it, and a new family ride to complete the area. If Log Ride doesn't reopen then a shoot the chutes, if it does, a new flat ride, even if it's something fairly modest like a large Balloon race (obviously themed to match the area though).
  4. Village eserve isn't available at SW yet so you should be safe. Aside from MickeyD's observation about what it looks like, it also seems like its been placed in the narrow part of the plaza facing the games rather than in the open area of the plaza. As for content, short ads to get you excitited for stuff in park (Shows, ride, that sort of thing) with nice 5-10min features about an aspect of Sea World's animal care team (think custom segments from those behind the scenes at the zoo shows) playing at a non obnoxious volume throughout the day would be very appropriate.
  5. I think if it doesn't have it's own identity, they at least need to heavily advertise that they're the same park.
  6. See first post I thought was a joke, now I think you may need professional help. Giant Drop did have brakes at the top on the Eastern side, which is totally not something you remembered wrong. Any more talk about tot pausing at the top will be deleted.
  7. Don't worry, literally no one will think it's a copy because that's mental.
  8. Not 100% sure, but I'd suspect the fact it shared a filtration system with Shark Encounter which had to be totally changed when the water had to be chilled for thr Penguins. It'd be nice to see something go back under there eventually.
  9. Well Storm went through it's maintenance in February during that massive heat wave so luckily it's ready for winter!
  10. Those are pretty rubbish discounts though. At Dreamworld the 10% discount applies to what I want it to apply it to, not one product at one outlet. Ditto with the one retail product. I wouldn't call it a discount on F&B personally, even though TECHNICALLY it is.
  11. Read the reviews about the closed attractions around the park. Having that left up definitely added to the poor guest satisfaction over the past however long its been, and its appalling that it took so long.
  12. Harley Quinn wouldn't be the most awful option. I mean who the fuck is Doomsday? She's only a relatively new character, being made for the Batman animated series, which I never watched, so hadn't even heard of her till a couple of years ago. Surprisingly for a something made for the cartoon she's actually a really interesting well conceived character, with this tragic abusive twisted love story with the Joker, although to the casual observer Harley Quinn is 'Sexy Joker' which seems to be a popular enough concept that has assured she is well known. Obviously in the awful bloated mess of a movie that was Suicide Squad, the interesting chemistry and backstory was rushed and all over the place, but even then Harley Quinn was the one element a lot of people seemed to like. There is a well known rumor that the ride was supposed to be themed to Suicide Squad at one point but they changed their minds because it was an unpalatable theme after last year. Creatively it would have been an awful idea anyway, why anyone thought that adding a ride themed to an outdated abomination of a film starring villains outside the brand spanking new Villains themed area would be a good move is, and always will be, a total mystery to me. It's a ride that should have always been themed to one of the big DC heros, with Flash, Wonder Woman or Jason Mona's Aquaman being very obvious and good choices. Now it's the wrong colour for them, (no one cares about a comic where Wonder Woman wore pink, if you make a Magenta Wonder Woman coaster it'll need a better explanation than that to keep the feminists happy) so what to call Australia's best coaster that happens to be magenta? Could do much worse than Harley Quinn, even if she is a villain in a hero area and is represented in Arkham Asylum.
  13. This could almost be its own thread but I don't think either Village or Dreamworld have better or worse staff. The difference to me is 2 things, Dreamworld are treating their staff incredibly well at the moment and have been even since before October and that good treatment filters through to the guests, . Village also ask their staff to do good service but doesn't empower them to do so, and instead asks them to enforce customer unfriendly polices like charging for sauce, charging for ride lockers, making people sit in exactly the right place for the parade. When you have enough unpleasant interactions with the public it will stop you from wanting to go above and beyond
  14. Dreamworld haven't added a new ride for a year but honestly I've enjoyed myself more at Dreamworld in the past 18months than I have at any Australian park for many years. It's so nice to walk into a theme park and actually feel like the staff want you there. I'll be renewing and I would hope that members on this site would do the same.
  15. Movie World's coaster from everything I've heard is very different to Flash. It might hit a lot of the same notes, but the order is totally different, and there are a couple BIG awesome changes that I've not seen anyone even guess so far. The rides aren't clones, I've decided that they are best described as 'siblings'. Certainly a pretty strong family resemblance but also unique personalities. While I'm sure it'll be a thing people will debate, I'll say that I think what we're getting is way better, even without that delicious looking camel back between the Stengel Dive and the turn around on Flash. I'm trying to not get too hyped because that's how disappointment happens, but it's hard to envision it being anything other than awesome. I don't think it'll beat Superman in terms of execution because that ride is about as perfectly executed a coaster as you could wish for, despite it's few flaws, and nothing on the rumour mill is filling me with confidence about this coaster's theme or placement in the park. In terms of pure roller coaster though, this should be the pretty clear winner, and I honestly can't wait.
  16. Past April is traditionally when winter hours start, and attendance on a good day might be a couple hundred. As much as I don't like to see cutting happening I can't really blame them for cutting an hour off the start of the day, particularly since (unlike WnW) WWW isn't a stand alone park anymore but a massive land at Dreamworld, so it's not like guests are getting a particularly raw deal.
  17. ^Problem with those prices is only the ultra fans will buy a year ticket. No one is going to think 'oh you only have to go 16 times to get your money's worth!' and having a ticket encourages visits more than a cheap gate price. Adult tickets $70 one day $120 14 days 3 parks $130 12 months 3 parks with block out dates $160 12 months no blackout dates plus 10% off f&b Lockers cost around $10, which is $2.50 each for a group of 4, get over it, except ride lockers which are free because don't be a douche Village.
  18. Thing is the bulletin couldn't tell the difference between a normal breakdown and what happened at GL, which is probably just as well. With this the public interest will be way higher. As for why she 'quit', probably to do both with how Main Event is traveling, and her performance last October. I think from the moment the journalist from channel 10 gave her the victim's phone number in front of a heap of rolling cameras she was probably doomed.
  19. Merlin would be the best outcome, but the only place that option has come up is here when we write what we wish would happen. The talk for a long time has been Ardent have been looking to sell Dreamworld, so the current reports aren't that surprising. Having looked at other Songcheng parks if you had any control of the situation you'd like to keep them the hell away from the park. However, I'd obviously rather see it run as a theme park rather than turning into housing. Seems to me that with the value of Dreamworld being at it lowest point ever, now is an odd time to sell.
  20. I'm old, I still think Arrow track is where it's at
  21. @AlexB OK so they're wrong, let's not call people fucking muppets yeah?
  22. Its also tiny and there's no land behind it, however the other side of the walkway has a surprising amount of space without even using the show stage (which you totally could) The problem with a Sci Fi movie theme is how you tie a themed land together, there really aren't any WB Sci Fi franchises apart from Matrix (which NEEDS a ride if they're rebooting it) that could tie a futuristic land together. Unless you just go generic future theme with rides leading off it for Passenger or whatever next years equivalent token Sci Fi film is.
  23. Obviously I think a Pier idea for Sea World would be pretty rocken because you know I came up with it, but the ideas for the water park both seemed pretty weak and unoriginal. A soaring ride shoe horned in and more sharks, not Earth shattering stuff. Not having a go at them but it's interesting that even the crazy blue sky stuff often isn't that ambitious or creative.
  24. Amazingly distribution and theme park rights aren't the same thing. I hope that's something new CEO might be able to sort out, getting better access to the Village movie library, particularly ones that it is partnered with Warner Brothers on.
