  1. At the front of the park where all the dolphin pools are, and surrounding Adventure Island at the back of the park
  2. That thread is about what Dreamworld may or may not do this year. This is outside of Dreamworld's plans/control, so I reckon it is worthy of its own thread.
  3. So let me get this straight, basically the offer is 'Pay normal price to go to AOS, and get 4 month theme park access for free', and people are like 'Nah that's not a good deal'.
  4. I wonder if anyone tried to enter him while he was closed.
  5. Calling it a landing pad is a bit of an exaggeration, given its really just half a wind sock, but it's there. I think when you create a theme park company one of the perks is you get to fly the company helicopters from property to property when you're the chairman of the company and the traffic is bad. More power to him I say.
  6. Thing is theme park Monorail systems (which lets face it is was Sydney's system was) are cheap as hell to run. That's why they're viable to theme parks which offer them free to guests. I suspect that the problem Sydney faced was no one could really be bothered with sourcing new rolling stock and dealing with implementing it when there are bigger fish to fry in the Sydney Transport network. I'd be shocked if it didn't run at a modest profit, but not enough for those who in charge of massive transport infrastructure to care. At Sea World though, it is a big part of what the place is. At Sea World it offers guests an easy way to commute around the park, is a genuine all weather ride that the whole family can ride together, and more intangibly, it gives the park a kinetic energy as the trains cruise around. It is worth it to put the effort into it at Sea World.
  7. Pdaonline sounds like a drug that would be used to treat ADD
  8. If they were to add any more DC it'd be evil!
  9. And with that a bunch of rednecks rejoiced!
  10. That is a ton of land for the Tiger Island Renovation, I wonder if they plan to use all that land for the Tigers or if the current site will be left partially vacant. Either way, good move, the Tigers have been a massive win for Dreamworld from the start. It'll be good to have a proper set up for their shows rather than the current set up which was never really designed with shows in mind, and more room for the animals is always a good thing.
  11. Not to Hammer the point home, but it's not a dark ride. I keep saying it, but I look forward to the collective 'eh?' when it's announced, about the best thing that can be said for it is it does give the park some much needed filler.
  12. Just thinking about it, that room would would be really cool to hire out as a room for birthday parties. You could even get private visits from characters in there.
  13. I'd be very interested to see what the cost would be to get new rolling stock. Give Bombardar or Intamin a call, it'd cost a bit, but there are a few other von roll systems nearing the end of their lives, perhaps other owners might go in on the r&d costs. I think given the importance of the monorail to the park in terms of transportation and as a link to the resort I think it'd be worth spending quite a lot of money, particularly since it's of the few remaining true family rides left in the park. Two trains running reliably at speed should be the goal.
  14. I think its possible that they don't know what they're keeping them for. If there was such a show as 'Corporate Hoarders' Village Roadshow Theme Parks would feature pretty much every week. Not that there's anything wrong with that; it's amazing the stuff that gets re-used, mostly for Halloween. Did you know for example, that the cave in the Sound Stage maze is actually old Looney Tunes River Ride rockwork?
  15. https://www.facebook.com/Parkz.AU/photos/p.10153379144011616/10153379144011616/?type=3&theater We can save you the bother of traveling to see the alleged coaster track Personally, I don't think there's much chance of anything going into Rick's Courtyard. The ONLY thing that MIGHT be related to a new ride is relocating the prayer room to that part of the park, but honestly I just made that up in an attempt to relate the two construction zones. FWIW, I think Leviathan is basically spot on with his wild speculation.
  16. The left rail is 1.5km, and the right rail is 1.5km long. Glad I could help.
  17. I feel odd having to say this, but there is no ride being crammed in that small area where the international Dining Room is. I'd also be fairly comfortable in speculating that Aardent management know what Village is doing, and Village management know what Aardent are doing. The only people who don't are the public, and I'm going to laugh so hard when the announcement gets made.
  18. Count me in for seeing the Steam Trains run more often. In the [url=http://www.parkz.com.au/update/2016/01/13/378-Dreamworld_January_2016.html] last Parkz Update we spoke a bit about how great the park was looking, and how positive many of the moves they were making are. Almost all of the negative things from that update was based on decisions made years ago, and one of the things we mentioned was the utterly charmless new diesel train, so obviously we think that even just trialing putting the old Steam Train out there is a fantastically promising start, and honestly I'd be content to just see it out there on Weekends/peak periods at this point as a compromise to see it going again. I don't know if Dreamworld have any new rides in the works, but word on the street is they've got 2 projects to bring new life to old attractions, this would be a third completely out of no where and I'm delighted!
  19. What's cool about it? It's not like they used that basket to cook your chips in, it's just a pretentious way of serving chips. Also what a great idea, having them stacked on top of each other in an open air basket so they can get cold quicker. Genius! What a load of crap, and what's more, idiots think it's fancy and places feel like they can get away with charging an extra $5 for chips. What's wrong with plates? The ONLY time a basket is acceptable is when you get a meal where the plate is quite full, and they give you a basket to keep shit organised. Apart from that it's a needless trend designed to fool people into thinking their having something fancy, when really what they're having is a burger and chips. Also fwiw if I ordered a drink when I ordered food and they didn't give it to me straight away I'd be pissed off. The lady probably didn't hate her job, but was annoyed that a customer had decided to boycott the drink they'd been served, and left it on the bar cluttering the place without saying why. Nothing personal here, I just hate metal baskets.
  20. The chips in a pointless metal basket thing needs to die. And wtf they served the whole thing on a pan? I haven't tried Village's new 'gourmet' offerings, but I did enjoy Dreamworld's improved expensive options last time I was at the park. Also IMHO Gothem burgers aren't really that bad, they're just not worth the typical slow moving queue that tends to exsist there.
  21. ^ I think so. I know I post about the things I don't like but I do want to throw in a quick 'I love Road Runner 4D'. Exactly the sort of thing the park should be playing.
  22. Jet Resuce in a round about way replaced Corkscrew, so no real net gain there Battle Boats Replaced the pool, so upgrade, hurray! Storm Coaster replaced Bermuda. Storm replaced Bermuda, Storm isn't bad but it's a bit of a downgrade. High ropes course in an up charge attraction. Kids Jungle gym thing replaced a couple water slides, so upgrade, hurray! Mammoth falls replaced 3 other water slides, and then it and the kiddie pool were made an up charge. 'Several Modifications to the kids area'. Direct replacement 'Several animal exhibits'. Penguin Enounter replaced Dugongs, and the aquarium under guest services. So upgrade hurray! Ray Reef replaced Thrillseeker Roller Coaster. Seal Harbour really amounts to making an already exsisting area accessible to guests, but it is a genuine new attraction. CotD is amounts to some figures being installed where there was already a path, but it too is a genuine new attraction. So that's it, 2 genuine new walk through attractions. And for that we only had to give up the train the skyway and the pirate ship (3 rides). And in the meantime the park pretty regularly runs one monorail train instead of 2 (much slower too it must be added), 2 sit down restaurants have closed, the 3D cinema is now under utilised and the flume ride is shorter. I'm sorry, but if you can't see the decline in the park then 'you're wearing blinders kiddo!'
  23. Except it's not physically connected to the resort, and it used to be free for Sea World guests. It's kind of like if Movie World built a hotel, and then started charging park guests extra to visit WB Kids Land because it was now 'part of the hotel'. That'd be a crappy thing to do, and they'd be rightly called out on it, and I think if a park does something that diminishes its perceived value, they should be called out on it. For my taste, if you want to include a waterpark as part of the resort, fine, but it's so haphazard. The resort already has a brilliant pool area, and a children's play area, so why they want to include a the seasonal and ordinary at best mammoth plunge slide and an underwhelming kiddie pool that are a couple hundred meters away from the existing area is beyond me. I'd like to see them drop the '& Water Park' branding at the resort, and drop the silly price to enter what's left of the water park. Particularly given a kiddie pool and plunge slide would work much better as a part of Castaway Bay & Sea World than they would as some far flung off shoot of the resort.
