  1. Yeah I'd expect to see tickets go on sale either sometime in May or June at the very latest, possibly April if they feel this years numbers need a bit of a boost. I'd also expect they'll be around the same price again.
  2. We really should send Dreamworld PR an apology. First the Buzzsaw story now this
  3. Well if the car is supposed to go first then the person calling the show either gave the right cue and the driver was late moving or the cue itself was called late. The last line of defence in the situation is the rider noticing the car wasn't where it was supposed to be and to be wary. Obviously I don't know the blocking of the show so I can't comment with any sort of authority, and I'm not blaming anyone. Personally though I'm totally fine with the removal of the bikes, and to be honest, the point of this sort of show isn't to really put people in danger, but to simulate danger; to show the audience something that looks dangerous but is quite safe/easy. Anecdotally I've heard of a few decent crashes, and while the boys would be back on their bikes straight away regardless of if they were at Movie World or not, I think Movie World is right in this instance to say 'Thanks, but no more bikes'
  4. I see your point, but I do think 'both systems fail' is waaaaay more than twice the news worthiness of 'one system fails'. Planes have single engine issues all the time and you never hear about them, because they're designed to fly safely with one and it doesn't really matter. Is it ideal? Obviously not. Is it dangerous? So long as the other doesn't fail no. It's a little scary to hear the story for sure, but ultimately when the ride reopens I won't have any issues joining the queue and going for spin.
  5. Disney might have something to say about that.
  6. ^. Exactly The last few turns (everything from the 'S bend' on) had quite a bit of force and threw you around a bit and beat a few people up. Personally I find the last 2 drops on Scooby more uncomfortable but each to their own, neither is rough though
  7. Watch again, are the two cars linked together?
  8. World record or Australian record?
  9. To be honest I think the heat was so oppressive on Sunday that it kept numbers down a little. WnW also had and almost full carpark on both Sat and Sun. As for the Screamworld review; there are too many people, yet you got on 2 of the rides with minimal waiting, did a couple others and watched a show. What were you expecting from the night? You berate Screamworld for being a poorly run event, and cite too many flatrides, the fact that the rides close by 10 and it was over crowded. Just throwing it out there, but MW's events are roundly criticised for being over crowded, and they close their rides at 9pm. Also like MW, DW don't get new rides in at night.
  10. I'd guess quite to very busy. Public holiday with most of the Center of Brisbane shut down. Seems more than plausible that many will take a drive down to the Coast. Only thing against it is if the Pac Motorway 'closures' or protests spook people into staying at home. My money says busier than normal weekend.
  11. Am I the only one thinking that a park called Aussie World should leave the Halloween thing alone? I mean, I know, Halloween is big over here these days and all that jazz, but it still doesn't seem like it fits the theme of the park to me. It'd be like if they dressed up the pub for 4th of July or tried to do a 'White Christmas' rather than an 'Aussie Christmas'.
  12. Your opinion is poorly thought out at best. Have a brilliant day!
  13. Again though, if the limit exsists on Cyclone to prevent it stalling, why do other rides require a minimum number of guests?
  14. Considering there are similar restrictions on their other rides, I doubt it's anything other than a cost saving measure.
  15. What I mean is, is the park noticeably busier since abyss?
  16. Out of interest, what were the queues like last year compared to previous years?
  17. Thanks for the feedback. FWIW I don't really use RCT3, when I need to indulge my nerd side I just stick to No Limits 2. Here's my latest: http://youtu.be/wGXCtksTDmc
  18. Yeah Dinosaur Island replacement. The idea has been kicking around for quite a while, and to be honest I thought the idea was dead. Wouldnt be surprised if it is in response to Corkscrews closure.
  19. The thing is, it's not just attendance, it's operating calendar. SFMM not only massively outdrawn Dreamworld, it does it in about half as many operating days. Dreamworld like all our parks has to be profitable when there is basically no one walking through the door. SFMM closes for week days most of the year and closes many rides during that time. Even then they'd still probably outdraw our parks by a large number.
  20. That is effing amazing!
  21. There I've fixed that one for you
  22. I did just see a report that she did meet the 120cm height requirement. Don't have anything to add but just thought I'd mention it as a correction.
  23. Ozshowkid: if you just call someone a keyboard warrior, and don't add anything to the topic, you are just being a keyboard warrior yourself. The very brief research I've done suggests that persons under 42inches (106cm) must ride with an adult on the traffic jam. I'd suspect that this is what the manufacturer set out, and if true, it means that there is unlikely to be a case to answer on the part of the operator of that ride. As for what the topic is actually about, look according to accounts, the girl was dangling for a while (how long? who knows) and the ride apparently came back with the harness locked; My question about whether the girl actually met the height restrictions as set out by the manufacturer of the ride is still valid. If she did, is there a fault in the design of the harness that allows a small person to slip out in specific circumstances? Was the harness not locked far enough in the first place, and is that because of poor operations or a poor design? Also a valid question is whether the operators were paying proper attention once the ride started. I think it'll be a while before we ever get any answers to these questions, but I think it's important those questions are asked in order to stop this sort of tragedy happening again.
  24. Woah, hang on, the ride had a 140cm height requirement? 14ocm is REALLY tall for an 8 year old girl (the average being 130cm). Maybe the girl was nearly 9? Buuut, that other mother reckons her 7 year old met the 140cm requirement? Ah, bullshit.
  25. A few points to make about this topic so far. There seems to be a lot of feeling that these rides are structurally unsound, and that all rides need seatbelts. THIS accident though, appears to be caused by none of those things. If you repeat those things in this thread, you're just telling everyone what you thought before you heard about this. Djrappa is also spot on that just because a ride is taken apart and CAN be looked at, doesn't mean it is inspected, or any identified issues will be fixed. Again though, none of that is relevant to this accident. It seems to me that this is either the fault of the manufacturer for poor seat/restraint design, poor operator guidelines, or operator error. The ride didn't fall apart, fall over and the restraints apparently remained closed (with the seatbelt fastened).
