What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
I really don't think Fright Nights needs anything kid friendly. No Goosebumps (or equivalent), no truck or treating. Fight Nights works well with gore, scantily clad women and a dash of booze. No need for kid friendly crap here.

What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
Thing is if they need another scare maze location, there's the slab they poured for SAW maze behind Wild West, and if the event takes off enough in the future and there is a need for another maze, sound stage 3 is very close by.

What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
Of the films you've mentioned, Scooby Doo is the only one that is based off the movie version. The others are generic 'comic book' versions. Scooby Doo was also filmed at the studios, which TBH I think is the more likely the reason for the Scooby theme than a desire to promote the film. I'd also say it's waaay more likely that Superman Escape was capitalizing on the upcoming movie rather than being an early promotion for it. Same with Green Lantern and Wild Wild West. It's also no secret Warner and Village have a good working relationship; they partner in movie production, distribution, cinema management and (obviously) theme parks. The important thing to remember though is that for the most part, WB doesn't say: "You must build a ride based off this franchise to help promote it", rather Villiage Roadshow say "We want to use this character, how much will it cost us"?

Fright Night 2013
Honestly, I think the sign was meant to be a 'scare'. As for pitch black V some ambient light: pitch black all the way.

Fright Night 2013
There was nothing in there. I didn't see any actors, and the sign out the front read "The snakes in this maze are non venomous and totally harmless". If you're going to lie, I think it's ok to lie and say "Do not touch the snakes are they are venomous. If bitten seek help immediately". The highlight of the maze was a random palm tree with a weak arse strobe. Just a weak attraction.

That maze in Lethal alley is a serious contender for the title of worst thing that ever happened at Movie World.

Doomsday - Potential New Tower Ride at Movie World
1. It will, the fenced area mostly isn't ride envelope. 2. Why won't it suit the Superman heilex? 3. And Superman's heilex over sand isn't a dead area? 4. Agreed, but I think Wild West needs a complete rework, including a replacement for show stage, and better use of the land in that area. A band aid flat ride won't fix that part of the park.

That's like saying an Observation Tower or Skyway are thrill rides rather than good family rides because they're high. I'm with Richard.

Doomsday - Potential New Tower Ride at Movie World
It's OK, and that's it, it's just OK. I think there's room in Movie Workd's line up for a new flat ride, and in Superman's heilex is exactly the right spot for one. But I do wonder if the money it costs to buy this might be better spent on a couple of more standard flats, because let's face it, this is going to be a bloody expensive ride. Having said all that, it is tall enough that it could capture the public's imagination, and it does hinge on how thrilling the thrill cycle is. Personally, assuming that it works properly, I'm not against it. Could be fun, though I hope you can't see it from WWF

The Off Topic Topic
That's fair enough, it's certainty not for everyone, and I wouldn't presume to tell anyone else about how they should enjoy a day at a park. Personally though, when you see my avatar, you won't be shocked to know I find the two mix very well. I'm not suggesting getting drunk at a theme park, but 2-3 beers in the middle of the day, accompanied by rides is just awesome fun. I don't do it in new parks often, and really the only times I've had more than 1 at a park overseas is: * When I went to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, me and the person I was visiting with arrived early, and was granted access to the park before the rides opened. Since there's only so much exploring you can do, we found an open bar and drank 2 or 3 pints waiting for the rides to open (I think they opened at 10.30am) * When I visited DCA me and the people I was with staked out a place to watch the Electrical Parade, which coincidently was near a bar. 2-3 beers with friends is a nice way to kill the hour waiting for the parade to start. * Sea World Orlando's old free booze pavilion. On this occasion I was traveling with a good friend who is a proper boozer, and we made a bit of a habit of going back to the pavilion to get a free beer and then taking it to whatever show we were going to see. The sign proclaimed 2 as being the maximum number of free (full sized) samples. We went over that on each visit throughout the day. Great day though. * Universal Studios Orlando. In my defense here, they sell yard glasses about every 100meters with the idea that you'll fill them with beer, what was I supposed to do? I dunno, some people unwind in the middle of the day at a park by having a coffee, some by sitting down to a proper meal, some have an ice cream or some other treat. For me, it's a few beers all the way. Like I say, I don't get drunk, but if I've got a couple days to do a park, then a trip to the bar does tend to be part of my day.

VRTPs a similar, I think $5.50-$6 for a schooner, so a little high, but not stupid pricing. A good price for a theme park, which is why it's the one product I'll reliably buy in park.

Dreamworld do in abundance. Many of their cafes sell alcohol, with Kakado cafe and Tiger Island tea house being personal faves. Movie World serve alcohol at Dirty Harry bar near Scooby Doo only. Nothing to write home about, but a good place to people watch. Sea World serve alcohol at Dockside Tavern, and to me, Dockside Tavern's verandah overlooking the dolphin pools is about the best place on the Gold Coast to have a beer. Despite the fact that Dockside isn't wheelchair accessible, and there are other areas of the park where a drink would also be lovely (Top Terrace and Castaway Bay spring instantly to mind), it is the only place in the park to buy alcohol.

Farewell Dreamworld's Steam Trains
^. That's just the price difference for the driver, what about the cost of having people working on whatever train is out of service, plus the fact it takes many hours to get the boiler steamed up first thing in the morning. Don't get me wrong, I think it's disgraceful, just putting some food for thought out there.

Dreamworld AVPX Replacement
I normally don't like posts like this, but: That sounds pretty gay. Not homosexual, but the colloquial use of the word gay, meaning lame. The back story seems needlessly complex, and poorly conceived. It's like they took a weak idea off a theme park website written by amateurs and turned it into a real thing. I'm sure the attraction might well be OK, but the story is pretty piss poor. (With apologies to the writer)

Farewell Dreamworld's Steam Trains
Just out of curiosity, is there a reason other than cost cutting for them going? Are parts difficult to come by? Are they degrading significantly? Is there some weird OH&S issue that I don't know about? Is the fact that one is always in refurb to much of a capacity constraint? Really keen to know what the go is. Also; why no history lesson? I love history, I'm keen to know more about the engines.

Bag Check At Gold Coast Parks
They bag check for weapons, if you get the sort of person who will ask about food, tell them it's because of special dietary requirements. If they ask (which they won't) then super sensitive allergies or diabeties is a safe cover all. Having said that, part of the fun of a day at the park is to get a bucket of popcorn for the show, or an Ice Cream at the end of a busy day, high prices be damned. So when you are trying to stretch a budget, don't go too crazy packing everything or it may end up spoiling the fun.

Fright Night 2013
I've never noticed a difference during the day while Fright Nights is on. Go during the week and you'll be fine.

Possible reason Eureka Mountain is still closed
Well in their defence, if they did demolish it they'd probably have to either rebuild a rocky facade, (which is mega expensive for zero return) or be left with the exposed wall from the cinema, and neither of those are good options. Even though there's an old ride in there, leaving the mountain makes more sense than getting rid of it. Having said that, I do hope they're looking into that area and are planning on doing something drastic, although truthfully if they gutted the mountain and put a flat ride in there then that'd be good enough at this point.

Dreamworld and White Water World or Movie World, Wet n Wild or Seaworld.
RACV advertises Theme Park tickets for up to 10% off. A single day ticket is $85. So $170, less 10% is $153. Now please, explain to everyone why you think $153 is cheaper than $109 for tickets to both Sea World and Movie World. Anyway, I'd say MW SW and WnW are the better choices for thrill seekers. WnW has the edge for thrill slides, and between MW and SW they will have the edge in terms of quality thrill rides. Having said that though, if you've been on Superman, you've been on Movie World's most thrilling ride, on the other hand, Giant Drop is still by a fair margin the most thrilling ride on the Gold Coast, and it alone is a compelling reason for considering Dreamworld.

Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss
I know there was a Twilight Zone movie but let's face it, twilight zone is a tv show; the movie wasn't that successful (just ask Vic Morrow) and was nothing special.

Adventure World announces $12m Eurofighter roller coaster
That awkward moment when Adventure World builds something better than every ride Dreamworld has added in the last decade. To me it seems like a smart move, they're getting a pretty good amount of coaster for the dollars they're spending, and I reckon this ride will really suit the park. Saw is a well reviewed ride, and if AW can get those type of reviews for this ride then it should give a massive boost to the park. Truthfully, this is the first ride in Australia outside of the Gold Coast that I'm really interested in following, bravo Adventure World!

Other viable locations for water parks to open in Aus?
Just a quick reality check for you here: People don't travel halfway across the country for a water park. Only the smallest, most insignificant number of people from interstate will decide to take their holidays to the western suburbs of Sydney rather than the Gold Coast because of one water park. Here's why: The reason WnW on the Gold Coast is so successful as a destination is because there is a critical mass of theme parks:beach/other attractions to make the Gold Coast as a whole a destination. The park manages to get as many tourists as it does thanks to some clever ticketing, leveraging off the other theme parks. Now, that won't work in Western Sydney since it really doesn't have that critical mass of attractions, (Sydney does, Western Sydney does not) but there are a buttload of locals that will support the park. The Government approved the proposal because it will provide jobs and would be popular with the locals. The website might say it aims to attract tourists from around Australia because the promotional website is supposed to say things like that, but the reality is that 99% of tourists who visit the park will do so as part of a holiday that they were already taking, and maybe they'll do a deal with Sydney Attractions group for combo tickets, but make no mistake, this park is predominantly for locals of Western Sydney, and as such there's no reason why they couldn't build another WnW in Melbourne to go after locals there. I agree that The Sydney park would have to be a success before they they seriously thought about another, and it's unlikely to happen for a while since they've sunk so much money into the Sydney park, but if you think a WnW in Melbourne would be competition for the Sydney park then you are well and truly mistaken.

Theme Parks Pocket Guide App
Just had a look, must say, not a bad little app. Nothing overly ground breaking here, but a solid offering. Things like show times available on the phone is very handy. I haven't checked out the VIP Pass features, but it does look like there's a bit of a ticketing stuff involved; the demo picture shows a barcode, so I wonder if you'll be able to show your iPhone instead of having a paper ticket now? It'll be interesting to see what more they do with it. It uses location services, so I wonder if the plan is park map that literally shows where you are in the park on a park map. The other possibility is they could be planning on having alerts appear when in park, whether it's for promotions, specials, or anything else (think https://geoloqi.com/). Imagine how handy it'd be being at MW on a busy day and getting a notification that there will be an extra HSD, or being at SW on a rainy day and getting an alert that today's parade has been canceled so you don't end up walking all the way to the other end of the park. The marketing opportunities for specials sent to people in the park are obvious; $30 off AOS tickets tonight, 50% off tomorrow's whale watch tour, or randomly getting a voucher for a upgrade to a large ice cream. Also, on the grounds that occasionally these boards get checked by park managers, I feel a fan boy duty to point out that the photo that's supposedly an Indo Pacific Humpback Dolphin is actually of a Bottlenose Dolphin. I feel very pathetic now.
