  1. Can people just block people they don't want to hear from. Someone tries to troll and no one responds than the problem goes away. So go on, block people who trigger you
  2. What happened on Green Lantern didn't affect attendance though. I don't buy for a moment the it's all DW thing for the Village Theme Parks decline, particularly WnWS, but it is pretty clear that it had a huge impact. I mean unless you know another reason why their attendance went down the year they added a Hyper? Also MW isnt in a downturn, the whole of VRTP is. Big difference. They're also coming out of their downturn.
  3. 6 weeks doesn't strike me as an extraordinary amount of time. Except of course its in the middle of winter when no one wants to ride the parks only other ride, Storm so it's a dumb time of year to... wait, we've already done this haven't we?
  4. Every year Storm has maintenance in Feb, and every year we point out how goddam stupid that is and suggest that they really should move it, and every year nothing gets done. It's kind of like a yearly ritual.
  5. To be fair to marketing, I don't think they (or anyone else) know. The only date ever given was Boxing Day. After you miss Boxing Day it becomes a case of "Oh its ready to go? Open!"
  6. I'm not intelligent enough, what did you mean? Not trolling or anything but I honestly don't know what you were going for?
  7. It's funny when they keep digging.
  8. Summed up beautifully in one pic how half arsed this all is. Old MW parade float randomly placed in a garden bed, with an A Frame still up advertising when the dolphin shows were on during the day.
  9. The Sky Point logo is on brand 👌🏻
  10. In that case we should make sure there's always a Brown snake on the Rivals platform
  11. The thing is without context a lone photo doesn't really tell a story though. All the parks were comparatively quiet on New Years Day, and (like I said last night) they were busier again today. Again, DW's attendance is pretty soft this year, but I don't think a photo of a carpark when they're doing extended trade on a day when all the parks are quiet tells much of a story. I could go and take a photo of the carpark empty at 7 and you'd get roughly the same amount of useful info.
  12. To be fair all the parks are pretty quiet today as far as summer holidays go. MW carpark wasn't quite full despite a few cars on the grass and WnW carpark looked like a normal weekend in Feb. I'd think attendance to be up tomorrow and then drop off by the end of the week to a reasonable level. Also a photo at 5.45 is a bit unfair. Having said that have heard numbers have been pretty weak at DW this last couple of weeks. There also hasn't been a really big day at any of the parks from what I've seen, which I think comes down to the timing of Christmas this year. Your traditional busiest day of the year is the first Wednesday after Boxing Day, but when Boxing Day is a Wednesday you don't get that massive 'look at how busy the parks are today! thing. DW had a couple of days pushing 9k last year, but I think they're a long way off that this year.
  13. Yeah same, that looks very weird
  14. I wonder how many holiday makers know it isn't open?
  15. This has been going around for years. Disregard. Also that town in Queensland isn't banning Christmas, and if you forward this email to 20 friends you won't have good luck.
  16. Yeah how many? Are they good? Are they noticeably different? Is there have? More info needed.
  17. TBH I wouldn't mind a lighting install on any hypothetical sign, so long as it's done in a classy way and not totally cheesy. I think a chase might be a bit cheesy given what the facade is going for but not against it straight off the bat.
  18. Jokes aside that hot dog sounds awful but I totally want one 🤔 Someone let us know if the new menu is any good 👍🏻
  19. Yeah I think @webslave has the right of it. I'd also suggest that a lot of this crap is a downgrade. I think everything about the execution of this upgrade from the sign out the from (The fuck even is that?) to the final scare is worse than what was there when the ride opened. When I talk about the evils of installing technology for technology's sake, this is exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about. The only thing I'll give it credit for is what it tries to do; it tries to tie the ride back to the movie more, so credit for that. But the laziness of the animation, how badly blended the screens are to their surroundings, the junk that's been added in there all take away from what they're going for. The animation is significantly worse than the move, which normally I wouldn't complain about but the movie is from 2002 and the effects weren't all that great back then. Finally, the marketing for the ride just made promises not based in any kind of reality; we were promised projection mapping, we got screens. Of course that'll be disappointing for anyone who follows this sort of thing. Maybe the public won't notice as much but if you're following the stuff they were saying like fans were, then you'll know how much it doesn't deliver. Also you can't put an A-frame out the front that says 'Technical rehearsal' after the fact and think that makes everything OK. Where on the Facebook posts or on the website does it say 'Tech Rehearsal'? Oh that's right it doesn't, it just says in multiple places it's open. I hope it gets better, I hope the animation is improved, I hope that the levels get sorted, I hope the queue gets fixed and I hope marketing have learnt something. Ultimately, it's a downgrade, but the only reason I felt compelled to write anything about it at all is because of the apologists who come on here saying how wrong anyone is for feeling let down and how great MW are for putting the themeing back in. I'm sorry but this is objectively worse that what was there originally. Tech doesn't automatically make things better, particularly when it's as badly done as it is here. It's not unsalvageable but any means, and there's some decent creativity gone into it, but as it is it looks either lazy or very amateur.
  20. Needs something extra, wonder if its getting a big logo on the side?
  21. I just hope it's a success so we see more of this sort of thing. I can't see it having much repeat value for locals, but it is an air conditioned attraction that literally anyone can check out. A small amount of behind the scenes and attractions for everyone are exactly what MW could do with. Ultimately what I'd love to see is a more classic brightly lit pristine museum with lots of different items from lots of movies, with a flex space off to the side with revolving exhibitions on what just finished at the studios. Ideally at the front of the park for all those grandparents looking for something to do while the kids are off queuing for Hyper coaster and Superman. As it is, I'm pretty pleased with this as an attraction though. I don't think it'll do much to move the needle on attendance and I don't think it has massive staying power, but I think having something that people can have a breather like this with is important, and does give MW that behind the scenes element it's been missing for a while, AND ties in the park with the studios next door. Good move!
  22. Yeah there's your problem. Here's my 2 step plan to improving the DW train; 1. Close Billabong station. It's very close and down hill from Central Station. Close it so the train can spend more time moving and less time stopped. 2. Always leave as soon the train is ready to depart. There is no good reason to only run the train every half hour. The train also adds an element of kinetic energy to the park and ups the capacity. Done, fixed your train.
