  1. I don't really want to de-rail this topic since ideas for how the park can handle the crowds it's getting is something I find very interesting. But I will say this about the hiding superman thing; It's a petty thing, and I wasn't even sure if it was worth mentioning. I mean no one who is 140cm+ is going to think 'Oh Superman is on the back all the time? Illusion ruined!', but on the other hand, that IS the point of all the themeing that they went to the effort to put in. I also don't thing having it visible will really help efficiency, the video explains the process reasonably well, and the queue is below the level of the platform, making it difficult to see what's going on anyway. Vote 1 themeing intergery!
  2. ^ Agree with all of that. The only thing I would say though is superman isn't well suited to having an open station as it does kind of ruin the 'story' seeing the superman on the back. But yeah, basically the things you talk about are certainly the 'Low hanging fruit' that the park should be picking. Also so from my experience as an op, the hypothetical of a guest staying for an extra lap or problems arising with loose articles simply doesn't happen. Open the gates the second harnesses are open. You could probably even wait a few seconds of it helps you sleep at night but I never had a problem with it.
  3. I think the idea is that it gets people out of queues and into shops and restaurants, so it's an indirect method of raising revenue. i don't think that would work at Movie World because there isn't spare capacity going unused, the shops are running at capacity when the park is open, the shows are full, and the less popular filler attractions don't really exist.
  4. I can't speak for the OP, but I don't think the questions was 'should they build more high capacity attractions?' The question is how can they make the park handle more people. I hope they get better, they have a good GM at the moment who isn't just a numbers man so I'm cautiously optimistic.
  5. I think they should add a largely pointless flatride that's less impressive than anything Dreamworld already have. At least it'd be good for the parks overall capacity.
  6. Just little things though, like waiting till all the guests from the last train have left the station and the gate behind them has been closed before loading starts. It'd be really interesting to sit at a ride with a stopwatch and just record how long the ride is sat doing nothing a day just from this.
  7. ^In the morning, and not for everyone. Early in the morning isn't the time when queues are a problem. If it's worth running 2 rides for an extra hour and a half, it's an utter mystery why they didn't keep them open till 6.30 to try and give people longer to shop, and also give themselves a chance of extracting another meal out of them. Dreamworld has also done something brilliant by having passes expire on Christmas Eve: 1 it takes the pressure off the park when it is busiest, (and busy with holiday makers who are more likely to spend cash too) 2 It makes the run up to Christmas busy, a time of year where it's normally dead, but you still have all your new holiday staff working. To those who say it's too hard because of staffing, I say 'Bollocks! Other parks around the world do it without trouble, and Dreamworld can do it'. They also only have to go till 8 like Dreamworld do so noise shouldn't be an issue.
  8. Beyond increasing ride capacity, I think the options they have are extended hours, and a top down culture shift on attitudes to capacity and efficiency. That and, gee I don't know, block out dates on the cheapest VIP pass?
  9. The thing with the season long fast pass is there's nothing stopping lots of them all turning up on the same day. So if you get a busy day (say around a long weekend where every man and his dog are pass holders) and all of a sudden you've got more fast pass holders in the park than what you may have wanted to sell anyway, and you get this effect of pass holders complaining that they're queuing despite paying extra, and all the day guests are complaining that the queues barely move. We know this because Wet 'n' Wild Sydney accidentally did season long fast passes last season.
  10. I agree. Also, it's a dinosaur themed park. How long till attendance starts declining after people get bored of Dinosaurs, and the owners start playing god making new dinosaurs to keep the public entertained? Also does anyone think their might be a military application to such a move?
  11. Superman and Wild West's extended downtime at the same time is rather interesting. Also how drunk was the person who did Sea World's maintenance update?
  12. Blue Water Lagoon looks more like a community swimming pool than a water park, so it's inclusion is a bit dubious. That list is pretty all over the shop. I'm surprised Adventure World isn't on the list, and I'm surprised Aussie World isn't rated higher. Wet 'n' Wild Sydney's omission based on customer reviews is about the only thing that would be expected.
  13. That's a really good deal, I hope it's not a sign that they're struggling to get/keep people in the park late.
  14. Can you sort the entries by date though? He did say 'For December' after all.
  15. Not to get sidetracked but if you're doing this sort of attraction at Sea World, sticking to places like the Pacific Northwest, Great Barrier Reef, the Arctic/Antarctica, and a whole heap of spectacular beaches and off shore lighthouses
  16. Spot on! Elaborate, well themed rides are very expensive to demolish. I'd suspect that Storm's place on the list is artificially high, because not all parks release how expensive rides are, and you're also dealing with things like the cost of labour in this country, demolishing Bermuda, rerouting the flume, and any issues that may be encountered with building a big heavy ride on sand. It's really not that surprising to see it cost so much.
  17. That or the dummys are over at Sidewinder. Stand by for Dreamworld to put them back purely to screw with us though.
  18. Boxing Day tends to be busier than normal, but between Boxing Day falling on a Saturday this year and a whole heap of passes expiring on Christmas Eve it's not that big a shock that it would be slightly quieter. Monday and Tuesday are the days to watch crowd wise, one of them (Probably Tuesday) should see the biggest crowd of the year.
  19. Isn't it those vacation club people?
  20. It's really weird how everyone on judged this before they saw anything as being total crap, and then when they saw what to be fair, are pretty mediocre pictures of the queue, were like 'OMG Dreamworld waaay passed my expectations, I'm so impressed!'. What did you think they were going to do? Paint the name of the ride on a bit of cardboard, miss spelling some of the words? This is totally inline with what I thought they'd do, make it look nice, and splash a bit of paint and branding around the place. Really nothing even a little bit special. Like I've said previously, I don't really care about the themeing upgrades (which are *fine*), it's all about the new train for me, and they look like they could be a real improvement, and I am really looking forward to giving it a go.
  21. I hate seeing other parks logos in the park, but that billboard is pretty inoffensive really. I also like the 'Nothing beats the feeling' and the 'feels like summer' campaigns, both of which are so much better than just slapping the word 'Magic' on everything.
  22. Am I the only person who parks in the very back row on the left and never waits to exit on the forums?
  23. Thing is this will be made on wether the trains make the ride smoother/more comfortable. Painting the track has piss all to do with how good a refurb will be, I mean no one said that Sea Viper was a better revamp than Arkham because the track got painted.

Maybe my post needed more smilies. That was actually a really good joke that got taken seriously
