Yeah a Disk 'O' would be a great addition. They have had one as a Xmas holiday ride and it was extremely popular. Interesting. Great work. Just wondering- how wide are they? Could one fit in the long space between the Big Top and the cliff? This space is exactly the same width that the Big Dipper used to traverse on the return sidewinder into the station when it was located at LPS. It could be a good solution.... LOL...I mentioned them in a previous post. I am sure they could fit on that area where Tumblebug currently sits but as I have stated, they receive almost universal condemnation. I have not yet personally had the pleasure of riding one. Is the lift hill overly loud? Can someone who has ridden one give some insight please?

How are they 2 different rides? Did you not read what I had posted about the Enterprise? The Flying Saucer was derived from the Enterprise in 1978 . They offer the SAME ride experience except that the Enterprise gives the rider the experience from a sitting down postion and the Flying Saucer ( or UFO as called by HUSS) offers it from a standing position. They are virtually from the same platform. The Flying Saucer however, was never as popular or successful as the Enterprise , which made it quite a rare ride. As I stated during its removal from LPS, due to this rarity and uniqueness, its a shame that a solution for its retention by the park was not found.

Yeah its a good point Yoshi, but I don't think LPS will go the route of a custom fit again. IF they were to get another coaster, I feel that an off the shelf compact would not be out of their reach, both financially and footprint wise. Anything else would possibly be too big a project or investment and may galvanise the surrounding residents to further useless action.

To date, Jamberoo have not started construction of the second stage of their expansion plans. To my knowledge, there are no sections of new slides at the park. I think what you may have seen Zacsta is the theming for the Funnel Web- at the start of the year they finished putting a huge spider construct on the side of the bowl- it really is an awesome facade and is the best themed bowl slide in Australia. Hopefully the second stage commences later this year- the original plans call for the construction of a new adventure rapid river, toilet bowl slide and rocket slide. Once these are finally added to the park, IMHO, Jamberoo will be more than a match for Wet and Wild Sydney as a water park destination.

​LPS actually had an Enterprise in the 1980's incarnation of the park. It was a Huss model as well. Taken from Dave Burton's Amusement Ride Extravaganza page: An Enterprise would be an adequate ride and would fit in the space vacated by Flying Saucer perfectly, but I feel that something newer is needed. LPS have had a Enterprise in the park before and a ride that is based on 43 year old technology isn't exactly cutting edge. Love the Enterprise as a ride but there are plenty of newer rides which would be a far more exciting addition to LPS's ride line up. Besides, I would rather see the Tumblebug be moved to the spot vacated by Flying Saucer, freeing up this space for a larger ride...*cough* did someone say coaster?? Any of these would be a welcome addition in that space.... By all accounts, Zamperla's Motocoasters are a fun little compact..... The Intamin Zacspins have been mentioned before but are not everyones cup of tea.......... One of these is my dream addition to LPS..... I have been banging this particular drum for a while now! This would fit nicely but I have never ridden one. The reports on this coaster are almost universally bad..Still it would be an Australian first! A flying coaster.... Given the incident at MovieWorld dare I even suggest one of these? There are plenty of other options as well..IMHO there are plenty of choices and the chances of LPS getting another coaster such as these shouldn't be an insurmountable mountain to climb.....

I am pretty confident that after the DA fiasco with Hair Raiser, any new ride will have the proper planning and construction approval checked and triple checked. ​Absolutely!! My thoughts and feelings exactly! Seriously though, despite there being some culpability on the Park's behalf for ensuring that legally every box was ticked, this is a win for common sense and also a strong indication that the laws that protect the park from this sort of resident nonsense are legally adequate and binding. Its also a strong indication that the government is willing to protect businesses like LPS that are caught up in this type of minority group class action and opposition. Hopefully the Park's plans for new rides and replacement can now get rightfully back on track.

​That's a fair point but in this instance I think its largely irrelevant. This basically comes down to public perception. If a major ride is closed and 2 others are shut down for scheduled maintenance then the average punter ( not enthusiasts like us ) will see this as being a reduction in the parks offering. The value factor of the park has just been down graded, in their eyes. Most people would not care or even know, if the entry price was the same when Green Lantern was introduced ( and of course there has now been a significant passage of time from this event) - all they are going to see is that they now have to pay full price for a park which currently has 3 major attractions closed. Of course they are then going to ask the question "Are they getting value for money?" To me, it would be a natural reaction from a normal "once a year" visitor to the GC themeparks to view this situation with these feelings and express a little dissatisfaction. Two other very good points in this discussion have been raised. I certainly agree with JulieLovis that it certainly appears that management at Movie World appear to simply not care. If they did , they would certainly be doing something to temper the source of this dissatisfaction by offering customers either a price reduction or an incentive to re-visit the park, just as Richard suggested with the VIP upgrade. This point is further supported by Joz's information that Aussie World are offering discounted day tickets for virtually the same situation that Movie World is now in. Which Park do you think that the public would see as better value or the one that shows respect for its customer base? Its certainly not Movie World at this current time........ Richards point that if the media are running articles on how badly your business is running, then you are probably doing something wrong is absolutely a business truism. As the old saying goes, where there is smoke there is fire........ I certainly hope that MovieWorld do not ignore this feedback and that they view this as an opportunity to re-engage with the public and maybe garner some goodwill out of a unfortunate situation. If it was MY business, its the path i would be taking. I certainly predict that if the status quo remains, then Dreamworld tickets will experience a spike in popularity..........if Dreamworld management are canny, they will review their own operations and ensure that their offering is far superior to Movieworld's in order to gain leverage out of this situation for their own advantage. They have a real opportunity here, if only they will grasp it with both hands......

Yeah I agree liz.wis. I do not get where this stupid idea that Cyclone's removal is imminent. There is absolutely no basis nor solid evidence to point towards this. I have a soft spot for Cyclone that dates back to its time at LPS. Sure , its not the biggest or the fastest coaster going, but in my mind it offers a solid experience and is of a unique design. It certainly has got rougher over the years especially from new when it had silky smooth operations at LPS. ( Incidently the ride was FAR more efficient at LPS with excellent loading times that Dreamworld really should look into. Also the queue line made sense. ) We also have to remember that while the coaster is now 20 years old, for 6 years of its life it hardly ever operated. All that's needed with this ride is to fix the operations, and destroy that godawful queue line and build something more accessible. The ride is so interwoven with Whitewater World's tower and footprint that it really is not going anywhere for quite a while. I would appreciate it Yoshi if you would stop disseminating fact from your own idle speculation. I believe that you have been called out for this before on these forums.

Seriously ? Its called good businesss sense. Why would you invest a serious amount of money on a business without getting any real, tangible return for that investment? There is no "sadly" about it. This is a business maxim at its most simple. You have to remember that the Park's are a business and as such , are bound by their investors interests. Maybe a trip to economics 101 is required?

If I am not mistaken, this ride was known as Fear and yes you are quite correct Noxegon, it only appeared at the Royal Easter Show once. I think it was owned by O'Neill's ( someone please correct me if I am wrong )and it was a dismal and abject failure. Reliability issues saw its opening times at the Royal Easter Show limited to only a few days plus as has been already noted, the ride experience was extremely poor.

That is quite irrelevant and NOT at all what you originally stated. The fact is that both Luna Park Sydney and Aussie World are quite proud of their 60+ year old Wild Mouse coasters and they both remain popular and iconic rides. Hell, people visit these parks JUST for the chance to ride these rare coasters.They are very well regarded amongst coaster aficionados worldwide. So to reiterate, there ARE plenty of people who want to experience a ride of this vintage. Its ok to make stupid statements like the one you posted, but please do not try to quantify it by side stepping your original intent.

I am quite sure the operators of Luna Park Sydney and Aussie World would have quite a different opinion to you on this.......

We will have to wait and see!! My guess is that Anthea Hammon talking to and looking and roller coaster manufacturers at AALARA is not a co-incidence. Although the structure of Orphan Rocker looks in poor condition, perhaps some of it could still be utilised? Either way its very exciting times and the signs that it portents for Scenic World could be quite huge!!

Absolutely worth sharing!! And it will certainly set tongues wagging and be the genesis for some very juicy speculation!!! Could my musings from over 2 years ago bear some truthful fruit? Time will certainly tell but I for one will be watching extremely closely!!

Interesting. When did it cease operation? Havent been there for a few years, but I do not recall if the track is still standing. Is the reason it ceased operation due to being unpopular? IMHO, the Big Banana has huge potential as aa small fun/water park. Lets hope that the owners realise this. The installation of the small water park is definitely a step in the right direction.

You need to update your information on LPS, as it is a outdated and inaccurate. Take the time to acquaint yourself with several threads concering the park on the forums to set this aright. You are right about one thing though-there have never been PUBLIC plans for a new coaster at LPS that we know of. That certainly does not mean that they could not install another one, if the park was willing. Given the legislation that has been enacted to protect LPS from further court cases arising from noise issues, it is quite conceivable that LPS could install a new compact coaster any time they wished, as long as proper planning permits have been actioned ( They certainly do not need another Hair Raiser fiasco!) We DO know that LPS have a long term 5 year plan to upgrade their ride offering and that the installation of Hair Raiser was the genesis of this plan. Its quite reasonable to speculate that a new coaster of some sort could be tied in this long term vision.

Yep that is correct. Funfields looked closely at Reef Diver but decided to pass, given the poor material condition of the ride overall. Am I the only one who thinks that this quote is kind of wishful thinking on absolute proof that the park is definitely getting a new attraction? To me , it feels like we are are reading a little too much into it. Certainly the park needs to continue to grow and a new attraction would be most welcome. I just have a few doubts whether anything new will materialise at this stage, without more solid evidence to go on.

Brilliant post GoGoBoy I echo your every sentiment!. I visited Wet and Wild for the first time 2 weekends ago and everything you have stated I noted in my time there. The day we visited was overcast and drizzily and was subsequently not overly busy. However, I would hate to be at this park in peak times- there is a distinct lack of crowd soaker attractions to cope with large amounts of people. This was noted by 2 of my friends who are not theme park enthusiasts The Lazy River, IMHO, is poorly designed and placed and could have been far better integrated with the other attractions. The quality of the slides cannot be ignored, but the park really lacks overall theming, atmosphere and quality landscaping- things which can lift an average park into a "good" park. Now that I have been to Wet and Wild Sydney, its interesting to contrast it to Jamberoo. Although Jamberoo does not have the amount or quality of slides that WW Sydney has, it has the advantage of being well established for over 30 years. Jamberoo has far greater atmosphere, is much more user friendly and is much more pleasing aesthetically, in my mind. Once Jamberoo gets on with its expansion plans, the difference in attractions will gain far closer parity, making Jamberoo to me, a much more attractive destination.
