Sorry but it’s true. They’re never going to get the lifespan out of that SBF that they did with the Mack model. It’s not even that old and having issues. Ok. Great investment. And that image... even Aja knows the ride is junk.

What a load of junk that SBF Matterhorn is... honestly, they should have spent money keeping the Mack ride running! Interesting to see what will happen with bringing in temporary rides. A major travelling ride was supposed to go in for a while, but with all the drama going on, Luna Park put a stop to that. Kinda glad to be honest.

Finally rode DC... and having ridden Shambhala at Port Aventura the week before, I can safely say that DC was a far better coaster! Wow insane! The airtime was awesome! Very pleasantly surprised with the whole attraction!

Rode a flying theatre a few weeks ago at Ferrari Land in Barcelona. Loved it. Was incredible. Glad one is finally getting the go ahead in Australia. Hopefully it’s done well with a great film.

We had a fantastic Ekka this year on The Beast. Even pulling a record day for the ride on the Ekka public holiday. We finished pack up on Monday and are now on our way to Adelaide for the royal beginning August 31!

I was at the show before we opened doing some graphic work for a few owners but came home on the first Saturday. I'll probably be back at the RES in 19.... until then I might be working on the Beast at Hawkesbury :-) The waltzer is brand new, and was first set up in Melbourne at the Picketts yard, then went onto a festival at Craigeburn and then Moomba. The public has really responded to it, and surprisingly that intense spinning doesn't make you sick... well doesn't make me sick haha

Sound Wave has proven a big hit at the show this year, originally it was named XSCREAM WALTZER, but Doyle was wanting a different name, so we worked together on this signage, artwork for the front (SOUND WAVE) and flags were created by me to fit in with the existing theme. It also gives one insane ride, its up there with the force of the Huss Break Dance's in Europe!

Interesting to see ALI BABA, CHAOS & SCORPION operating at the park, I never knew that happened.... all three rides are operating, although I think Chaos lives up in the NT now. Ali baba is in horrible condition, and Scorpion can be found here and there, especially down at Rye every summer with Wittingslow. thanks for the photos!

Something new from Wonderland History
HussRainbow87 replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I wish I could have visited Wonderland... such a shame those woodies arent around anymore, I saw cars off one of the coasters not long ago sitting at OCS' yard in Sydney, along with their (Wittingslows) Rainbow :-( -

Surprised Black Widow didn't have this done earlier, Joylands travelling Power Surge has had seat belts for quite some time now. -
Looks like it could be a small bit of fun, not a huge fan of Zamperla designs though.... They should have gone with this haha

Harness Issues on the Skywalker at Royal Melbourne Show
HussRainbow87 replied to webslave's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The ride was signed off by WorkSafe Victoria and was cleared to run, there was no issues with the restraints. What that girl was saying in her post and on the news was a complete joke. I worked on the Sky Walker for 6 years and there was never any issues with restraints. There are also secondary locks in place so that if the main restraint locking system failed, the secondary would keep it in place. The harnesses do not actually click, the knife passes through the lock and is locked with the pneumatic system behind the seats, a secondary lock also passes through the knife so that if the pneumatic system failed, the secondary keeps the knife in place). The dissapointing outcome of this situation was that some idiot on social media (yes, she made up some ridiculous story, saying that her shoulders came completely out of the restraint - this is impossible, if anyone has ridden a KMG TANGO, you would know that those restraints are very restricted and don't give the rider much freedom to move) made a ridiculous claim, and instead of the RASV getting behind the showmen and their safety measures, they made the situation worse by listening to these claims and keeping the ride closed. The fact that WorkSafe cleared the ride with no faults, just shows that this story was ridiculous. Are we in a society today that anyone can make a comment on social media and an attraction could be closed? This could happen on any of our theme park rides also. It's frustrating to say the least. Other than this incident, the show was a success and we had a great year on The Beast. Wonderful to see people really enjoying the ride. -
Nah, I just work on deck... I have driven it though.... very easy! the ride has a limit switch that it will hit after a short while of the ride running at 100%, you then just take it back to 40% and then you can drive it back up to 100%
-
Control panel for The Beast (KMG XXL) The red box next to the panel is the remote control that helps set the ride up, it controls the walking system, hydraulic cylinders, winch system etc. The three white buttons at the bottom of the control panel control the swing of the ride (15%, 40%, 100%) the switch is for the restraint locks, blue button is reset, red light is failure, and the dial on the right controls the spinning of the gondolas.

Hope it gets something nice and 3D like SE. This is the perfect attraction for some incredible 3D Models like Doomsday has! -
I wouldn't hold your breath on TURBO, i'd also love to see it back, but when and if it does eventually get out, it will most likely be a TPA Christmas job and other hire spots around Victoria. I got to do early designs for the artwork (middle panels) but its all been put on hold for the moment.
-
To be honest, I think the company would rather remain anonymous, but I know it would have been a major hire job attraction. It probably would have been too old to run at the Major capital shows, but who knows, seeing as Zipper still does Sydney! I wish more classics were at the capitals From what we were told, LPS pulled out, retracting the sale, that's why i'm still confused at to why the advert is still up.
-
it's not anymore apparently, it was to go to a Showman here in Australia but the deal fell through and LPS had the work done that was needed for the restraints.
-
From what i've heard LPS has the funds to spend money on new machines, which is great. I'm not always negative towards the park, its just a shame to see a great place diminish slightly. Melbourne Luna Park is even worse. I'm honestly glad they invested money in the Ranger, as we all know HUSS rides aren't cheap to maintain. I do believe Zierer make larger capacity swingers, but Zamperla does have a good reputation within parks and travelling shows. Will be interesting to see how the ride does once installed, hopefully residents behind the park don't have something to complain about once again.
-
LPS Couldn't even add a Zierer model Swinger.... I don't have high hopes for the place
-
From what I hear the wheel is going through a re-paint, hence the missing lights and cars, they do a few at a time. Shame about Ranger. I wish theyd just let it go to a showman, there is interest in Australia.

DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion

Got some good views today from the top of Superman and Batwing.... Looks like there are more artwork panels inbetween the brake run and the start of the lift hill... the line will snake around in there. The station looked pretty basic, but work was going on inside. People were up and down the lift hill all day doing stuff. Very exciting! This thing really is insane in person. Photos don't do the colour justice either! I always found myself looking at that lift hill wherever I was in the park! -

Do other parks do this though? Just a question, I haven't visted any in the states, but are they primary just focussed on events that involve the park, or do they feature other activities. -
I think the USA has a slightly different approach to how amusement rides are maintained, both park and travelling. The simple thing here is, if your ride has not passed inspection, if it has not had all maintenance work done, and all work is up to date, then the ride won't operate. I cannot speak for the country shows interstate, I only am aware of how WorkCover is here in Victoria. Regardless of whether the machine is at a park or travelling, accidents can happen on either. Its a shame when it does, but it happens, just like plane and car accidents.
