Whilst Kevill Hill was never of interest to me (I’ve literally never been inside in its current iteration - went in there once when it was AvP), the fact the social media team at DW have basically said “we’ll we've replaced the laser skirmish/zombie walkthrough with a temporary toddler/kids area” is absolutely laughable. It’s like closing TOT and saying “but we do have this great shop that sells Fairy shit”..

The paintwork looks decent, the plants are an interesting and welcome cohesive themeing addition. However, the big statue thing looks ridiculous and nothing like a jellyfish. Looks like a combination of something out of War of The Worlds and a hot air balloon...

Have to say that’s my thoughts too. If I was looking for rides I’d just go down the road to MW and DW, better rides and don’t cost a fortune. A show imo is for the show experience which is show events, exhibitions, games, showbags etc, rides play a minor role in that, but I have no issue with other show elements expanding at the expense of more rides

There is currently nothing theming wise.... so how can a refurbishment that adds theming be a bad thing?

Pathway past Billabong is out of action, so Corroboree etc can only be accessed via the fancy teleportal they’ve apparently built in the Ice Cream store....

You sound like someone who would have been in charge on maintenance procedures at DW this time last year. ”Just coasters they’ll be fine” “A one day quick checkover will do for this year” “morning walkthrough is enough” ”was fine last year, it’ll be fine this year” ”nothing has gone wrong before, so why would it now?”

The car went down for the TVC and was then removed and put back once FNs began. It didn’t sit there for 2 months prior to FNs

That’s basically what I just said. All 4 (or 5 mazes) are clearly not ready to roll. they may have 1 complete in the shed, or a couple partially complete that they can get some basic shots in. They’ll set up some of the precincts and film those (like putting the car on the fountain like they did a year or two back, and then remove it again)

The prices being offered to members ($69 adults $59 kids) is the cheapest promo rate they’ve offered in the last 12 months. I get it might be annoying, and I’d probably be a bit pissed if VTP follows suit one day, but we keep harping on about how we are not happy with how the park is run, well then we can complain when they clearly try to implement different strategies to change things. Cant complain about the changes when you were complaining about the status quo. Well you can, but that just makes you a whinging tool....

Usually 1 or 2 are used in filming the TVC going off the previous years, they also set up some precincts (and then put them away again)

Just had a quick solo stop in at MW as I haven’t had a chance in months. Carpark busy due to still school holidays in southern states and the far eastern state (NZ). DCR standard queue was only down to the bottom of the ramp, probably 10mins tops, yay for single rider queue I didn’t even have to wait a single cycle, up the ramp straight into Row 10 which remains my favourite outside of Row 1. 2 trains runnings. still haven’t ridden SDSC in “thematic enhancement mode” so thought I’d give it a go... yeah no thanks, most of the entry hall was completely full.. I’ll wait for 2.0 SE was pretty busy, GL closed, so figured I’d have a go on DD. Again single line walked straight on into a seat next to a Chinese tourist who was quite upset when her iPhone fell out of her pocket and exploded into 1000 pieces mid ride... good to see Robin still in park and roaming for photos, wish they’d do the same with Penguin & Riddler.

Haha... you raise some very good points @AlexB it was more of an idea rather than a well thought out concept haha I think it is something they could do a cost/benefit analysis on and see if they could make it worthwhile, though I entirely doubt it is something we will see happen.

DW membership was $10 a month.

*warning* Here comes an “out there” suggestion.... VTP clearly want as many people in the TG precinct of an evening as possible.. what about making DCR open from 5:30-9 on fri/sat nights? A bridge direct links TG to MW basically via what could be an entry to DCR. So main park entry is not open. They make it a Pay-per-ride of say $10 ($15 backwards) and obviously pass holders get free access. Could be packaged up to create a ‘combo’ with TG as well. Cost to the park would be 3 operators, a maintenance/tech and security”. They’d probably need to sell say 50-60 pay per rides as a break even, which they’d do in spades currently as TG has been having 2+ hour waits for a bay of an evening. “Ride DCR while you wait for you tee off” *told you it was out there, but I think it Could work...*

I stayed at the Super 8 Anaheim on West Katella Bvd last time - it was a convenient 10min walk to DL. It was 18 years ago though haha, a quick google maps search shows it’s still there. The continental breakfast consisted of trays of Donuts. But who doesn’t want donuts for breakfast...
