  1. I have to say whilst the 'charm' of the original Dreamworld is gone, I feel like some of you are carrying on like it is now some abomination of a theme park. It is the most complete park we have on the GC, and therefore in Australia (IMO). it moved with the times. It added, what at the time was the tallest & fastest ride of earth, and you are now claiming this was the nail in the coffin for this once great park? I guess some would have preferred it had stayed the way it was, died a slow death and subsequently closed? Peacocks and animatronic koalas may bring back nostalgia and great memories, but as modern day successful theme parks go, they have no part..
  2. Is something impromptu if you plan it the night before?
  3. I have no idea whether you are being serious, or are auditioning for the looney tunes.. converting Driving School to Mad Max? Flames shooting out the back of cars?? Now you are talking about re-theming Arkham which was only recently rethemed, which is located directly next to Superman, Batwing & JL.. Lilo & Stitch is a Disney property. And I have no clue what traumatising you are referring to from that movie... How does one make an Independence Day area? Hang a giant ufo from a crane and demolish a building at midday every day?
  4. I was 6 when I first visited Disneyland, and then 16 the second visit. Now at 31 I am planning on when to take my son, who is currently 3 & 1/2. I have very limited memories of my trip at 6, snapshots in my mind, but we have countless photos and dodgy video footage to recount those memories, and that was in 1991. With the advancements in tech these days/social media etc, a 4 or 5 year old can relive that trip the rest of their lives. Hoping to visit in June/July 2017, if financially viable, if not definitely in 2018.
  5. Well firstly, the parks revenue and visitation has been growing year on year, and given DC rides have been the mainstay of the park for a while now, I'd say claiming that adding more movie themed rides would increase revenue is probably fairly baseless. When you choose a movie (Lethal Weapon, for example) to theme a ride, you are banking on that license or property to stay relevant for the foreseeable life of the ride, that's what makes a movie-based ride difficult. LW became an obsolete property, and i doubt you'd find anyone under the age of 16 who would even know what Lethal Weapon is unless they have raided their dads Dvd collection. The major DC properties however, are iconic pop culture references, have been for 30+ years, and still will be in another 50. Theming a ride to these priorities, which are continually and actively refreshed and revisited in film, comics, tv, animation etc means the themes relevance never expires (granted I think Doomsday isn't a great choice given the great breadth of iconic DC villains available). I think MW should increase their 'genre' based presence to enhance the park, such as Wild West area, which is generic to movies without being tied to an individual property. I think a post apocalyptic area would have been fantastic, and transitional from Mad Max to another property at a later time it necessary. I'd absolutely love to see HWSD rethemed to Mad Max, and I think it could be a truly exceptional attraction if done correctly.
  6. So other than the Tiger Island refurb, does anyone else think we may see anything else from DW in 2016? With MW getting the new Villains precinct (which we know quite little about) and DD, is DW hedging its bets on the revitalised TI solely to keep its members/increase visitation?
  7. Would you buy a new car and leave it sitting in your front yard for 6 months before driving it the first time? It's not a big deal, but 6 months of fading and weathering before your launch is not particularly ideal..
  8. Its one thing having your operational ride being exposed 24/7, like many rides are across the world, But It's another thing altogether having it sitting exposed for 6 months before anyone even rides on it..
  9. It seems quite strange to me that the seats are out in the open elements, still 5-6 months prior to opening..
  10. Don't lie.. It's tiger powered. Tiger Island is just a front for a sophisticated tiger slave breeding programme. the car is hooked up to 150 tigers, strung up like old fashion sleigh dogs, and they release deer into the subterranean tunnel, which the Tigers chase to the dead end, consume, and reset. The reason for the audible alarm is to ensure no team members enter the 'tiger tunnel' when they are released
  11. Already been posted and discussed in another topic (off topic thread from memory)
  12. When you say "it looks like" it usually means you have some form of information or solid backing as to why it "looks like" that. VR is a relatively new concept when combining with thrill rides, and no VR rides are at this point considered "worlds best" to my knowledge. So that linkage doesn't work.. So we Come back to your comment of "it looks like" really meaning, "well it could be possible". Its also possible that it's going to exact replica of Kingda Ka, but it sure as hell ain't likely.. That is as sound a linkage as when the Bulletin said the Gold Coast was getting a Jurassic Park theme park because some rich guy who owns theme parks bought a share of a movie production company which made JP as well as 5,000 other movies..
  13. Great Scott!
  14. In what way does it look like a VR coaster? None of the regular reliable sources have given any indication of such
  15. We don't have a forum cop who keeps people in line, if people think someone over steps the mark they call them out. If you are not happy with how someone speaks to you, call them out yourself. You shouldn't be relying on someone to stick up for you..
  16. And that's duely noted. If I thought for one second that a family/friend/colleague of the employee was active on this forum I would not have made the comment. My comment was regarding the irony of the location
  17. He'll be haunting that place for years to come..
  18. Dodgems don't have a 110cm height requirement. My 3 year old has been going on the dodgems at DW for over 6 months and he still isn't 110cm yet. if being able to drive is a pre-requisit of dodgems it would be a damn boring ride... Half the fun is smashing kids endlessly spinning around haha
  19. didnt realise you were talking animation..
  20. There is no 'Killing Joke' movie in the pipeline, though I'd love to see one. Unfortunately to do justice to the comic story it would need to be MA/R which WB would not run with given its target audience. Also love the idea of the ride opportunity, but again, is too graphic to be a family friendly ride, without omitting key scenes which would, in essence, no longer keep that theme.
  21. Thanks Push, you've cleared that up for me now! here was I thinking they were gonna build the hotel in the current carpark and people were just gonna park on the grass from now on..
