Gold Coast vs Orlando parks
And splashing in my sons kiddie pool & lying in his sandpit is a very real alternative to a week in the Maldives.

Maintenance Schedule
Maintenance - happens every year. And yes has been discussed elsewhere

No overly long maintenance periods there may reflect no major ride overhaul this year like Wipeout received

The Off Topic Topic
It's closed 3 months so hopefully May get a full re-fresh So you think if they keep it closed for an additional month it will what, become a better ride? I'm sure if it needed more than a month it would have it. Also, what's wrong with it?

Would you invest in a house that had been abandoned and left to rot for the best part of a decade?? Even re-building an exact replica would require partial deconstruction of the mountain which raises the same health concerns. I honestly believe the asbestos issue is all that's stopped them from knocking it down (and the cost/loss of income associated) As for the skyway pillars, they're not in the way of anything, so are they worth the expense to move? I'd say they'll stay til they imede future development. The vast majority of visitors either wouldn't notice them, or wouldn't give them a second thought once they did see them

The mine ride is beyond repair now, it would need full replacement which would mean tearing down the mountain, which is turn would mean shutting down a decent area of the park due to the asbestos. I think we'll see a large attraction announced Mid year for a late 2015/early 2016 opening, but doubt lagoon is the only area Id see being considered as part of a new rides footprint

What media outlets? The only real experience the general public will have had with a woodie would have been at Wonderland, and the Bush Beast was one hell of a ride that I'd ride over and over again in a heartbeat

Superman - nothing about it is boring Storm - definitelty not a kids coaster Cyclone - is old but that doesn't make it in enjoyable. Parks have limited budgets, and 'cool' coasters are very expensive. I don't think they are dropping the ball at all, just doing the best they can with the limited budgets they have, which just happens to be rides you don't think are 'cool'

Fair to say the extended trading hours are going down well (today the first day it's remained open as it wasn't pouring down). Drove past the park at about 6:30 and Carpark was more full than it was at midday

What rides have you gotten stuck on, or have seen broken down?
So how exactly were you 'stuck' if the harness failure wouldnt allow the train to depart the station?

Nope. Since day 1 of opening you are repeatedly told no loose articles by the entry attendant, signage and the video loop. Only items that can be removed and left behind with an attendant at the doors are prescription glasses. Been that way for 10 years

Blackfish
Now you are calling me ignorant and abusing me? You start off by blaming Australians and referring to them killing off species, and then say it's only supporters of non-Australian sea-worlds you are targeting. What is your thoughts on tiger island? The ignorant person is you. Agenda driven, swayed by media and smear campaigns and propaganda. As for giving back to society or paying it forward, you know Jack all about what I have or haven't done in my life, which i'd comfortably say is a hell of a lot more than what you and the majority of the higher than mighty conservation crew do

I don't think as a first time poster on these forums you have a right to criticise or take a shot at anyone, whether pro animal captivity or not. Are you saying anyone who supports SeaWorld and enjoys the shows are selfish and self-centred?

Hi, welcome to the page. We're a group of theme park enthusiasts here, and from your one and only post thus far, it seems the only reason you've joined is to blow the 'save the animals' trumpet. If you love theme parks and want to contribute to discussions that's awesome, but if you are just going to post agenda driven dribble I'm sure there is a better outlet for you somewhere else. If you are also going to take a shot at 'aussies' whether on the basis of history or otherwise, I'd again recommend you find elsewhere to do so

6:30 isn't 8, and from memory it was 6pm not 6:30 and it wasn't everyday or advertised, it was a daily decision at the discretion of management based on attendance.

Dreamworld opening hours extended, with the park closing at 8pm from Dec 27 - Jan 18th, with Illuminate laser show each night. Think this is a great iniative for the park and something I'd love to see MW replicate. Also Screamworld confirmed for every Friday night in Jan from 6:30-10pm with WWW open as well for $20pp (park closes normal time 5pm on these days)

if you'd said it scratched the hell out of your back I would have agreed, but to say you received a concussion would be implying you had some form of head knock or trauma whilst riding, which is pretty serious

How exactly did that happen?

Hold on... Someone asked about the prices and type of food, I responded. I didn't jump on here and make a 'complain thread'. There was ZERO embellishment and I don't need anyone to pat me on the back, or support to feel better (WTF??) it was my experience. That is all. I didn't say "no one go there it's terrible". I said it how it was and then pointed out it was great the prior visit. I'll likely still go back next time too. I'm not angry at the staff, they weren't busy and were having a laugh & that's fine. In any service industry though, if a customer is waiting longer than expected and staff don't appear busy, it casts negative thoughts in the customer, rightly or wrongly. I deal with it with my own staff regularly. Someone of you just seem to jump down people's throats if they dare speak a negative word about a park or experience. I didn't sensationalise it, I just told my experience. Next time I won't bother.

Maybe stop assuming Alex... Let's see, I was solo with my 2 year old son, so was feeding him, not just sitting around, though even if I was just sitting around, why should I have to chase up my order?? It was about 2pm. I have no issue with staff members joking around, in fact as a manager of a service based industry I encourage it, but not at the expense of customer service. I also stated a had a great experience the previous time, so unless you are one of the 'Dough Bros' yourself, I see absolutely no reason why you bothered with that in depth defense of the staff in a situation you were not present for.

Was at DW today and 'are' at Dough Bros. $14.95 gets you 1 slice of pizza (size equivalent of 2 slices of pizza hut/dominos pizza), chips and a small post mix. 3 pizzas to choose from (Hawaiian, pepperoni and supreme) $24.95 gets you a 'gourmet' pizza (roughly Pizza Hut equivalent size) 2 chips 2 small drinks. Kids meals $9.95 for a ham n cheese kids pizza (a square pizza about 10cm x 10cm), chips, small drink and a toy. This was my second visit to Dough Bros. Last time was realty enjoyable (hence the return), but this time it was ridiculously poor service and quality. One bite into my $15 pizza slice and I realised the entire base was soggy like it had been sitting in water. Took it back and nicely pointed out the issue, the guy at the counter said 'no dramas', turns out the entire pizza people were getting their slices from was soggy. So he said the chef would run a new one through, would only take 5mins. 15mins later I was sick of waiting so walked to counter where the 3 staff members (sans the guy that served me) were laughing and chatting as I was one of only 2 people in the outlet, and I notice a new pizza is sitting there on display. They inform me the guy who served me finished for the day, and didn't tell them. But they could get it now if I wanted. I got a refund and left. Don't mind service standards dropping when it's flat out, but when you have 3-4 staff members plus the chef to look after 2-3 customers, you shouldn't be screwing up.
