the fact is all those roving performers, the mazes and the staffing for those, not to mention extra shows, staff etc - cost a lot of money. I'd have no drama with my $89.99 renewal not including HFN or White Xmas because i can see where that $30 or $40 is being spent - on a one off amazing night event.

there is a better chance of a flying pig exhibit than DW getting a Kingda Ka replica. Also no chance in hell DW would be able to afford the Star Wars licence for an ongoing ride IMO.
-
Adding a foot/metre Adding a foot/metre of height will not make the Drop a better ride, nor make more visitors come to the park. Building a Kingda-Ka replica isn't feasible. Simple as that

completely understand that in value for money terms, $109 is still a steal... My grievance is that MW/SW have added much better rides & attractions in the previous 12 months, have more parks to access, but yet offer a discount for their returning pass holders. I would happily pay $150-$200 for a pass, but I think given DW/WWW additions vs MW/SW they cant justify the increase
-
its a joke really No loyalty discount for renewals, and passes have gone up from $99 last year (and it was a 13 month term). Meanwhile MW offers 3 parks for cheaper, 4 for the price of 3, and a renewal discount + new rides and attractions that are decent Wont be renewing DW/WWW thats for sure

Hell of a long monorail track from Oxenford to The Spit
-
To return, it would have had to have been there first! I'm almost certain the lucky few that have heard audio on the ride simply created it in their minds & tricked themselves into believing it was coming out of the speakers

How is it a marketing nightmare?? Do you know anything about marketing?? GL and AA:ST opened within months of each other as well ... there was no marketing nightmare. What do you think? People might accidentally get in the queue to walk into the Roxy with DC/Justice League on the sign thinking it is actually the Justice League attraction at the front of the park that they just walked past on the way in?? I dont think the average MW attendee is that stupid. Given, it more than likely will not be anything DC related, but saying it couldn't be due to previous press releases about the BATR replacement & time frames and a 'marketing nightmare' make no sense at all. In fact when Journey opened, there wasnt even a marketing campaign to go with it. Changing the movie in the Roxy is not a major attraction (and god help us if the day ever comes that such a change is called a major anything) so i doubt they will make any real noise about it to be honest

Yeah no doubt Speilberg will be executive producer, as he was on JP2 and JP3 - basically his production house will be involved in development but other than a couple of trips to the set and his name in the credits i doubt Speilberg will have much to do with the final product (except maybe part of the 'idea' behind the movie). I hope they don't do a remake - regardless of technological advancements - you don't mess with certain movies - and JP is one of them. Just put the better technology into the new movie as either Part 4 of the previous trilogy or as a standalone movie. On the JP front - the original movie is currently being post-converted to 3D and will be released around June next year on the 20th Anniversary of release

Jurassic Park IV is a loooong way from production. Spielberg has an 'idea' as he announced as ComicCon a year ago - but currently there is no script or screenplay, and no confirmed cast or director, let alone a start date. It'll be a miracle if we see it prior to 2015-16 - if it happens at all. As you said, you like to dream, and with the chances of a replica or new JP themed water ride being introduced in Australia pretty much a zero, thats what you'll have to keep doing!
-
no doubt there are probably better franchises and movie rights they could utilise. I, for one, think that Justice League/DC Universe would be a theme that could transfer well and utilise a 4D experience - much better than say Journey. I'm not talking live action - i'm talking animated ie. Batman Year 1 etc. I also do see the majority of people don't want further DC based attractions given that is all we have had in years - so a different theme is probably more likely and will be better received.
-
And your point is ... What because there is a justice league ride slated for Spring at the BATR building they can't have a DC themed film at the Roxy??? Your either real stupid or like 8yrs old to not understand what I was saying
-
What are you talking about??? I didn't mention anything about months or seasons in my post??
-
Plus pre-show room design. Very interested to see what theming it would be. Would be awesome to be a DC/Justice League theme or preferably old school looney tunes
-
That definitely does look cool, but on a MUCH bigger scale than what Sea World could/would be doing. There looked to be 15+ animatronic dinosaurs and scenes in that video - given the space Seaworld has put aside for the exhibit, i'm thinking we're looking at no more than 5 at SW, with the focus being on the kids archaeological area etc
-
So it opens in 2016 at USH? Didnt realise it was so far away ... that will be mark 5 years since the final movie came out - whilst im sure harry potter will be a long time crowd drawer, one would think the impact and interest will have significantly waivered by then with the majority of the youth/teen market that grew up with the book/movie releases moving into adulthood
-
That's what they get for poor new ride choices, nothing new at WWW for years and buying Skypoint which was a dodgy buy to begin with (no repeat business and only overpriced coffee and cake once you get up there)
-
*yawn* Would have been a great addition. But not prior to a BT replacement going in Also don't get the whole dinosaur relevance.

Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
Brad2912 replied to ads086's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Surprising that they would close it Monday and not Tuesday/Wednesday as it is a public holiday on QLD on Monday which usually means big theme park crowds -
Sea viper? Lochness monster?? This egg is sitting in the middle of the jungle...
-
It's a big egg. Maybe they are getting Ostriches I don't really think that a ride 'hatches'. A bizarre analogy if it is indeed a new ride

Bring A Universal Studios To Australia!
Brad2912 replied to daltma10's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If a feasibility study was conducted that showed marked growth in tourism dollars and employment for the local community I wouldn't mind state/ fed govt contributing, in part. But I do agree there are a lot more pressing issues in the community right now. Maybe we can have a Disneyland tax. At least we could get some fun out of the money. In saying that on the gold coast now, the government won't even pay to upgrade the roads in order for the long awaiting Coomera Town Centre to open which would employ over 600 people and pour millions into the local economy annually - they want Westfields to pay for it. So chances of them financing in part a theme park are extremely unlikely -

Kind of glad that didn't go ahead because that would mean my house that I've just built would probably be in the middle of Frontier Land right now... -
Bring A Universal Studios To Australia!

Unfortunately it's just not feasible for a park similar to Disneyland or Universal to open in Australia. That situation may change in another 20yrs, but it just wont happen. Disneyland has more visitors annually than Australia has international tourists. Hong Kong Disneyland is located within a few hours of over 1 billion people. To successfully open a park of Disney proportions, I'd say we'd need a population of at least 50 million people to sustain it, and a massive increase in international visitation
