Movieworld 30 Year Anniversary Celebration Predictions

Any gym will tell you having people set up on a monthly direct debit is a much bigger win that them paying upfront for a fixed term. Close to your expiry date, when you get a bill in the mail (or a renewal email) requesting $140, you have to take action on it for it to continue - you consider the value, the usage, your current financial situation etc - apathy doesn't lead to the business in question making money off you. On a monthly ongoing/rolling payment, unless you are a genuine budget keeper when it comes to your finances, you are less likely to notice what is a small charge ($12 per month), and even if not using/taking advantage of it, less likely to cancel it (ahh... its only $12, we'll probably go in a few weeks....). There are probably plenty of people paying monthly that have forgotten they even have memberships (especially given Membership holders dont get sent exclusive offers etc anymore). -
Dreamworld General Park Update - April 2021

Might be coming towards the end of the licencing period? DW looking to cut costs - its not as it the Mick Doohan licence is exactly relevant or valuable today, compared to what it was 15 years ago when in development. Doohan's sprawling mansion down the road from the park at Coomera Waters is for sale, maybe he's done with the GC... -

Yet another offer/opportunity not sent to Membership holders -
Private and catholic schools also don’t go back until tomorrow so their kids would have been making use of the last day of their holidays

I don’t believe manufacturers apply any age restrictions to rides, only minimum & maximum heights, and in some cases weight
-
Confirming that I’ve just checked as I couldn’t believe they’d have implemented new restrictions on Gold Coaster just because they repainted the trains ... it’s minimum age of 10 if unaccompanied, no age restrictions if with an adult
-
What? That’s 100% new. When it was HWSW there was no age associated just height.
-
I wasn’t aware of DCR having an age restriction? I thought that was just a dreamworld thing. In saying that it’s 7yo, and I probably wouldn’t consider putting a kid under 7 on a hyper coaster anyway. Dreamworld does my head in though with The Claw having a minimum age of 10. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

Dreamworld General Park Update - April 2021

And this was the exact same rides (incl Pandamonium with tech issues) that were down on the first day of the school holidays, so there has not been any progress made in the past 16 days to bring any of these online during the holidays. I dont frequent that area much now that my son no longer has interest in Dronkey Flyer and the Shrek-Go-Round (Thank God) but that shortcut was there i'd say at least 18 months-2 years ago. -
Was sitting in that exact location 2 weeks ago. the

the rides that constantly get pushed back (BSS, DD, GL and previously AA) are hardly rides that you would base a trip around however.
-
entirely depends on the demographic makeup of your group. If you are largely toddlers, young kids and low-thrill people - then you are going to Dreamworld. If you want coasters, Dreamworld isn't even a consideration.
-
I expect it to still be busy, its still school holidays. It may be a little down on last weekend as interstate visitors will likely head back home prior to the weekend
-
I can tell you that both Thurs and Fri last week and again this morning the queue to enter the car park between 9:30 and 10:30am extended the entire Northbound off ramp of the m1 and about 500-600m south of the exit itself. I’ve never ever seen that occur in 15 years living up here.
-
Yep, I wrongly stated QLD when I meant GC, my bad. last week was the first week I have worn a mask since covid became a word we all know. as for masks in parks - I can only applaud how Movieworld handled this over the weekend, where as it was a firm Fail for dreamworld

Ride Express at Dreamworld.
Brad2912 replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Because you are talking about a completely different operating environment. the economy is different, the cost of standard admission is different, the mix of one day admissions vs annual passes is different, the currency/exchange is different, the visitation numbers are different. it’s the equivalent of walking into a restaurant in darling harbour and saying “why is this steak $48 when I can get one at Denny’s in downtown LA for $11”. -
Ride Express at Dreamworld.
Brad2912 replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
That’s a ridiculously stupid comparison. -
Not QLD wide, that was only in Brisbane so didn’t effect the Gold Coast or theme parks
-
Impossible to tell really. The last 6 days have been the first time masks have been mandated in QLD since the pandemic started (outside of hospitals and aged care). Providing the next 2 weeks rides out without any unlinked cases, masks will be gone again by mid April.

Yesterday the following was closed at DW MDMC Pandamonium Shockwave Escape from Madagascar Tailspin for a family group and that is a massive closure list and only leaves rides for toddlers, or high level thrill rides with the exception of Sky Voyager. Movieworld had closures but still has rides across all the main groups. Families still have WWF, Scooby, Road Runner, and the thrill seekers still have SE, Rivals and GL
