There was zero social distancing in the queue on ground level, no markers, painting, signs or communication from staff to social distance. QLD is in its best space Covid-wise with 4 months since community transfer, there would be no mandate surely to change queuing structure or capacity on towers, there wasn’t even markers on the tower anywhere once you were released to get up there. It’s just crazy and poor execution

First school holiday visit to DW today. crane in the car park lifting some ST pieces around. I’m usually quite defensive of DW, but they get a solid F for operational planning. Some of the decision making is just amateur hour at best. the monster trucks whist an unique attraction in theory just hasn’t been executed well at all. To have zero shading available for the show whatsoever, and expect people to go in 30mins prior to sit in direct sun on metal benches that were easily 80+ degrees - we were lucky we had towels in our bag. I’d say at least 30-40 people left prior to it even starting. the show itself only goes for 12-15mins, and is in one word - boring. then we get to WWW, where for some god awful reason they’ve decided to have the queue lines for green room and Hydrocoaster on ground level rather than utilising all the tower stairs, only letting roughly 10-12 people on the tower for each queue at a time. The outcome being instead of queuing in the generally shade of the tower, you are now queuing in direct sun, no shade, burning hot floors. A 1.5hr wait for Hydrocoaster and only 10mins of that wait was on the tower stairs itself. No communication, at one point HC broke down, line didn’t move for 15mins, but no one came along to tell people there was issues, only way we found out was people coming down the tower who told us as they tried to push through to get out. no idea what is going on, but they really need to rethink what they are doing.

Sit me next to anyone you like. there is no social distancing at cinemas anymore, there is no social distancing at the shops in queue, aisles etc. time to stop living restricted when there is no current outbreak. Live cautiously, and if you are more susceptible take your own personal precautions.

Loved LW/AA and bummed I haven’t been on it in a couple of years. Think my last ride was at white Xmas back in 2017 - it was a great coaster IMO and the revamp did alleviate the ear bashing that was annoying, and I didn’t experience the leg pain others mentioned - it was mildly uncomfortable in the brake run at worse for me. the intensity was certainly the highest of any coaster imo...

Think it’s essential with the bypass going in for The Big Banana to market itself as a stand-alone destination rather than just a place to stop for a drink and photo between Sydney and the GC, and this goes along way to doing it. hope it comes to fruition

I’m not disagreeing with you at all. Just a firm believer that mental health is vitally important and if you have suffered through that level of trauma that it continues to haunt you daily, that you proactively move yourself from the situation for your own sanity and health. He deserves every dollar he can get for what he saw/witnessed/was involved in

Another day, another news limited article about DW. maintenance worker suing for over $300k due to being first on scene at the TRR tragedy, and another $300k after crashing a golf buggy last year whilst working there. don’t blame him for suing given what he witnessed, but if sights and sounds and large crowds etc now cause anxiety, i wouldn’t still be choosing to work at the place where that incident occurred. Haven’t been overseas in 20 years, was due for our first family trip to Disneyland this year Sept. at this stage we are thinking Sept 2022 but will depend on vaccine rules as I’m not jabbing my kid with a rushed vaccine with no knowledge of potential long term side effects. works out well with timing though as Super Mario World at USH is due mid 2022 and we’re a big Nintendo family so that eases the disappointment of missing this year somewhat

Just weeks after a young girl suffered horrific internal injuries on a waterslide, a patron narrowly escaped serious injury after another slide mishap. And workers had a lucky escape when the three-tonne arms of the ‘swinging rickshaw ride’, Pandemonium, fell during maintenance. Workplace Health and Safety Queensland has launched an investigation into both incidents which come after the 8-year-old Logan girl was rushed to hospital with shocking internal injuries last month after riding the Fully 6 waterslide at Dreamworld’s sister park, WhiteWater World. The regulator hit Dreamworld’s publicly-listed owner Ardent Leisure with safety improvement notices over that incident but sources say the company is appealing. Dreamworld has defended the slide’s safety but the girl’s furious family has launched legal action, calling in the same lawyers who handled successful compensation claims over the 2016 Thunder River Rapids ride disaster which killed four tourists. Sources say Ardent was issued with three safety notices over the incident on the Pandemonium ride which is one of three major Dreamworld thrill rides that has been closed for extended maintenance. A worker is believed to have narrowly escaped being crushed when the ride’s arms fell, about a week after the Fully 6 incident. WHSQ was also alerted over an incident on the Triple Vortex slide last weekend. “Workplace Health and Safety Queensland confirms that Ardent Leisure has recently notified it of a near miss incident during maintenance on the Pandemonium ride and another minor incident last Saturday where a patron was cleared of any serious injury after riding the Triple Vortex tube slide,” a spokesman said. “To ensure patron and worker safety, WHSQ has taken action and continues to investigate these matters”. A Dreamworld spokeswoman said the park had self-reported the Pandemonium incident, which occurred during scheduled maintenance, to WHSQ. “We … are working cooperatively with them and have received confirmation that they are satisfied with our actions,” she said. “We acknowledge a minor event that took place on the Triple Vortex slide at WhiteWater World and we confirm that a notice was not issued by WHSQ. WHSQ have advised they are satisfied with our actions in relation to this matter.” The spokeswoman said the park had acquired the Fully 6 waterslide from a top global manufacturer and it operated strictly in accordance with the maker’s requirements. “WhiteWater World has requested a review of this notice with WHSQ and the notice is currently stayed,” she said. The theme park said it had made sweeping safety improvements after a damning inquest into the Thunder River Rapids ride tragedy exposed major flaws with ride procedures and maintenance and staff training.
