  1. I also think the type of ride also impacts on public opinion/outrage in the event of an accident/incident. Despite the fact it shouldn’t matter and from a safety and compliance standpoint there is no difference, the average Ma and Pa Public will be less outraged/shocked/enraged hearing someone was injured or killed on a rollercoaster that is high speed/intensity/inversions etc than on a fairly placid family ride you can bring your 2 year old on. that alone would have, in my opinion, caused a disparity in public sentiment if GL had of derailed versus what happened on TRR. The fact there were kids on the raft that survived made it hit home further as it made it more relatable to even those that don’t frequent parks at all. Had one of those children, god forbid, become a victim, I don’t think Dreamworld EVER recovers and probably isn’t even operating today.
  2. Because the “error” or “oversight” was markedly familiar to the type of mistake I’ve seen occur multiple times in cheap, offshore developer apps.
  3. Interesting find, but a reverse image search finds that to be an extremely common free to use stock photo for “roller coaster”. my assumption would be their cheap offshore app developer used the stock photo as a placeholder when developing something within the app and screwed up the code somehow.
  4. No, but responding in emoticons is as ridiculous as the notion that there was ever $1b in funding (or even anything near that)
  5. It’s an opinion based on what I have seen/heard/believe. I’m not gonna stake my life on it, but if I had to have a bet either way I know which way I’m leaning...
  6. It ain’t coming... not in the next decade anyway by which point it’s relevance in theme/linkage to wonderland will be long gone.
  7. What an inspired choice of name...
  8. Were you even alive then? Mid 90s to around 2001 Wonderland will always be the pinnacle for me as it was my formative years as a theme park enthusiast. I also spent most weekends and school holidays there, and the memories will stick with me forever.
  9. If they can’t keep a garden bed in a presentable condition I have serious worries about their ability to keep rides operating.
  10. I don’t know of the exact numbers, but they spent literal days trying to recreate the incident, and from my understanding were unable to such was the myriad of contributing successive factors that led to the incident.
  11. I don't think it's weird at all. If it is done right, it should be respectful, sincere, fitting and tasteful.
  12. After pleading guilty, the sentencing/penalty will be handed down very shortly (court recommenced at 12:30pm). Prosecutors have asked for a fine of between $3-4 million which DW have stated they have the immediate capacity to pay (as you'd expect). https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/truecrimeaustralia/police-courts/dreamworld-thunder-river-rapids-disaster-12yearolds-haunting-words/news-story/afaee97d0915cf9940679cc890a07d1c
  13. Here’s a few more taken from Dockside
  14. Couple from today. If I get some better ones later I’ll add as these were just taken on the way in and past the precinct entrance
  15. Nor had one of the banked corners when I was there yesterday
  16. I’m gonna say it’s actually not that incredible at all and @themagician has taken better shots...
  17. Movie world visit this afternoon. straight to WWF as it’s hot & very excited to see the improved/repaired effects. meh. yes the geysers is working now, which is great, as is the water towel leak BUT - water trough at rock fall no functional - no noise effects or smoke effects at train bridge scene whatsoever - no Indian chant or any noise effects or any campfire smoke at the Indian teepee scene. So it’s probably 2 steps forward, 2 steps back. the entirety of the lift hill Is pitch black, no lantern lights anymore, which I didn’t mind tbh... went for a second ride to see if maybe I got a busted timed run, but the same until.... turned the corner into the lift hill to see the boat before us was bottomed out/stopped pre-conveyer belt that takes you to the lift chain. We rammed into it and shunted it forward onto the conveyor. It wasn’t stacked as it was the first boat released post covid wipe down (we were second). we then stopped pre-conveyor, and the boat behind us rammed us forward onto the conveyor and up we went. Rounded the corner into the station only to shunt the boat in front again as the station was stacked. Boat behind us then shunted us. At this point there were some worried rice ops, some techs, heard something about turntable one. Our boat and the one behind were evacced off the side after waiting about 10mins as we couldn’t get up to the station. Got a “ride re-admission pass” for the trouble so straight to the front of Scooby was a good reward for the experience...haha Wristbands for DC Supervillians have also been removed, which I think is poor given more than half of the interactive scenes are inaccessible due to some work going on above the Capt Cold scene, which also blocks off the Joker/Harley, Luther & Grodd scenes. The Sinestro scene is also non-functional so having to pay for a wristband that only works on 2 scenes is just crap...
  18. They were still painting yesterday when I was there. Didn’t take any photos as it didn’t seem really necessary as it hasn’t progressed much since the last update.
  19. Here’s a new one.... an ice cream in a regular cone costs an extra 40 cents than if you want it in a cup...
  20. Exactly, my son is 135cm so can go on Rivals. Yet can’t go on The Claw.
  21. Thankfully won’t have to worry about that with my near 8 year old not able to ride it until he is 10 for some stupid reason. (Moreso stupid is the 10 year age restriction on Claw despite a 120cm height restriction... stupidity)
  22. Shockwave with its 2 empty seats between groups is a nightmare... we already know how slow it is at the best of time, current cycle only has 10 people on it... 🤯
  23. No sticky dots. Show that you have registered at the tent outside the lego store ramp, then head straight up to a sorter who directs you onto whichever booth/entry to go to. I’d say 3mins from crossing the zebra crossing from the carpark to being inside the park (granted I only had 2 people to register, and my iPhone pre-populated all the details)
  24. First DW visit post-closures right now. entry pretty seamless. headed for Sky Voyager first, line looked long but taking into account every second queue line closed and spacing figured it wasn’t really that bad. 2mins in queue and it’s closed due to technical difficulties. All good, that happens. Headed down to MDMC as its a big deal for my 7 year old. Staff member on entry, not open. “Technicians are running late today, will be open later on”. awesome. currently In the line for Escape from Madagascar - hoping for third time lucky...
