  1. that usually isn't a big focus of the Half Year presentation... unless its something that will be visible or impacting their P&L in some way prior to June 30.
  2. completely agree Alex... funnily a comment made by the DW CEO on the call this morning in response to a question on their price increases was: "We were surprised how "elastic" the market is with cost." When asked to elaborate, he said that them increasing their prices didn't seem to concern people and alluded to his thoughts being that people would pay regardless as they want to visit.... he also mentioned once SV opens and has had time settle, that they'll evaluate whether their value makes a further price increase relevant...
  3. yeah i'm a bit over the fountains too... maybe he's trying to get rid of some of the water as HMAS Dreamworld sinks....
  4. Apparently... depends how long it takes to fix the defects... nothing like spending $20m+ and your ride can’t be registered due to defects....
  5. No other majors rides or attractions planned currently though the master plan will include a roll out strategy when it is completed
  6. Yep.. just listening in. Someone has just asked in the first question. SV - construction was 4-6 weeks behind needed for Christmas. Ride is finished except for some defects which are being resolved before the ride can be registered. They hope this will happen “in the near future” capital light focus on entertainment offerings to bring local/pass holders into the park more master plan underway with focus to increase profitability on a much smaller footprint - analysing what/how land can be utilised for commercial and residential development. $5m per annum reduction in expenses (read: less staff, less operating hours)
  7. There goes the shop... Also not understanding the fountain of improb votes on my previous post? I took the photos, so they have no improbability haha
  8. Took this on Saturday... same costume. Not sure if that is the same batman however, the cowl just looks wrong on that guy...
  9. Mark seems intelligent enough to not jump on the Titanic 100m out from an iceberg.. Also, having had direct, sustained and successful theme park experience makes Mark far too qualified for the job....
  10. Of course the small things matter - but they currently don’t have rubbish blowing down the streets and broken toilets, so my suggestion is not - “let’s no longer collect garbage and fix broken amenities in favour of having a big coaster”, it’s made on the assumption that the status quo in “small things” currently is upheld with the addition of something big. DW probably knows better than anyone that from little things, big things grow.... faulty water pump wasn’t it.....
  11. Surely the principles of running a hotel are identical to those of a theme park... 🙄🙄🤪🤪
  12. I think DW is past “smaller details” being able to bring back people. DW need big, audacious “you can’t help but pay attention” changes and additions to bring people back. agree on staffing at MW, it’s terrible, they need to invest in training, or recruit the right people to start with. I had someone tell me at Gotham Burgers the other day that my premium membership is no good for the monthly pass discounts - these only apply to one pass holders, despite the memberships being the highest level pass, and the website clearly stating “‘memberships and one pass”. Despite this, and showing them the website wording, they still refuse to discount. Needless to say I wasn’t impressed
  13. Thank god im not the only one... i didn’t know wtf was going on last time I rode on The Claw (first time in well over 12 months). I know I haven’t put on weight, and whilst I’m not the smallest bloke I wouldn’t call myself overly big, but I struggled to do it up. Good to know it’s a change in their end and my scales are not broken, nor is my mirror lying to me
  14. Yes, they were the children of the deceased but that isn’t relevant to this lawsuit.
  15. Couldn’t agree more, the problem is that it appears Ardent don’t have the people in decision making/overall strategy positions with any theme park nous whatsoever. I don’t think they have the knowhow or the actual desire to commit the funds to do what it will take to turn it around.
  16. Hyper coaster has a tester seat. Scooby probably has the least forgiving harnesses from what I have seen in terms of people not being able to get the required number of “clicks”.
  17. @Gold Coast Amusement Force My sincere apologies. My comment was misguided and rude. Tbh I actually had you confused with someone else which is entirely my fault for not paying enough attention, and you didn’t deserve my comment or reaction. I’ve retracted & deleted my comment, it remains in your quote box which is fine, I own the error and will be more careful & considerate moving forward.
  18. retracted. Rude and unnecessary, and misguided
  19. Well the narrative from the park has slightly changed from ”opening in the coming weeks” to ”keep an eye on our website and Fb page for updates”
  20. “Months” is short-term in DW maintenance timelines...
  21. Probably because an experienced theme park CEO wouldn’t want to go near Ardent/DW knowing the lack of investment/resources, the negative public perception and the mountain in front in terms of timeframe to begin to move forwards. They’d rather keep their rep in tact that be associated with a disfunction parent company who invariable control his/her ability to do the job right.
  22. In a board meeting... DW CEO: “we sure got that Brogent mob good! They agreed to let us pay off Sky Voyager over 6 years! Chumps! We’ll run this place into the ground and be closed in 2! Suckers! ”
  23. Given time doesn’t stop, the coming weeks actually describes every week from next week thru until the inevitable obliteration of our planet from a dying sun in 4 billion or so years... so id say they are on the money...
  24. So it was closed for one day, today. I don’t get the point of reporting this, it doesn’t help anyone with planning their day knowing a ride is closed, as the park closed hours ago..
