  1. Don't think we'll be seeing any extensive capex at Dreamworld in the next 12 months. They definitely be spending but as we've seen it will be on freshening up park standards and offerings to 'refresh' the park. On a ride front I think we'll be lucky to see any new rides this calendar year. I don't see Main Event being too keen for massive investment until they see a relatively strong pickup in attendance figures
  2. Laxatives won't make the announcement come quicker...
  3. The marketing, well the lack there of, has been ridiculous. It's a tradegy of Shakespearean proportions that the management of the parks we love & support so much, and want to see succeed, seem completely devoid of marketing nous. The building of hype and early interest has already passed them by. Any of the 100,000 people who pass by a now partially constructed Coaster as they go down the M1 and go home and jump on the MW website are greeted by... nothing. They don't tell their family and mates in nsw/vic that there is this cool new coaster coming, because they know nothing about it. People have already decided where they are spending their Sept holidays, and have done so without a vital piece of information that could have made the GC and unmissable option. It just seems crazy to me.
  4. Look, I didn't mind SS as a movie. It's not a bad movie at all, just suffers from introducing the audience to about 15 new characters that have had no prominence in film or tv previously (except Joker). It also suffers from a poor major 'villain' in Enchantress. It was popular enough to get immediately greenlit for a sequel, and spin off movies for Harley & potentially Deadshot on the strength in their portraying actors performances. In saying all that, I still don't think it is an easily marketable theme for a coaster. We have a villains precinct, a "generic" villains based Coaster in AA, do we need another "collective villains" coaster? I still have no idea why it's not red/yellow and themed to The Flash, it seemed a perfect choice for mine. Maybe there was a special on magenta paint...
  5. Stopped to take some photos today myself (won't upload theme as they will just be repeats of what we've seen posted already). Was cool to see a few others in & around the site doing the same, not sure if any of them were you guys or people just taking photos for themselves
  6. Superman isn't DC's main character, that's Bats. Commercially, Batman is a more valuable and successful licence. There is no way they will be re-theming SE. There is better chance of this being the Barney The Dinosaur Coaster than SE being re-themed. SS has been discussed in the early days as a possible theme, seems highly unlikely to me as a theme, and that has no reflection on the DW accident, it's just a poor theme
  7. $100k apartments? Maybe 15 years ago... or in Eaglby (apologies if anyone on here lives in Eaglby).
  8. Sinestro was mentioned early on when the first track arrived. again though, its a minor villain not known to anyone outside of readers of the Lantern comics, those who watched that terrible movie. Hes not the basis for the best coaster ever built in a country. The colours have no resemblance to ANY Wonder Woman imagery. Some people here know what the theme is and are keeping lips sealed (rightly so), I am not one of them, but for me it's either a generic/non-individual character themed, or it's The Joker. That's it.
  9. Yeah.. noticed that the other day as well and thought it was strange. Why not just say "and Paradise Country" ?? Are they believing that by just Saying "and more" it will trick people into believing there are more than 4 parks/attractions? I don't like the tonality of the ad at all tbh...
  10. Well TPSN believes it'll be themed to The Phantom... ha..
  11. Tried to take a few shots from a different angle this arvo..
  12. New guardhouse has some cool retro movie theatre style signage
  13. Based off this? The only thing you could confidently rule out from that is that it's not the lift hill (unless your TPSN).
  14. Have you considered that they did stock a larger range but certain products didn't move, resulting in unnecessary stock waste? Your photos from DW also show the same lines located in multiple places (display towers and shelving fixtures). Don't confuse volume with range. Wouldn't be surprised if they have very similar product ranges, but MW doesn't multi-locate and utilise unnecessary floor stands due to either space limitations or sales results of the lines
  15. Why play music when the riders can just use their #pureimagination
  16. Not much to report really.. couple more supports up, and some digging going on around the footings on the south east concern of the site
  17. This topic has been discussed previously (maybe in the travelling fairs thread) from memory there was a divide in people's opinions, some of the belief that carnival rides are more susceptible to safety issues due to the constant pulling apart and rebuilding, whilst others believing that practice is what makes them safe as they are re-checked more often. I guess I'm in the former group, I just don't have the level of comfort on a carnival ride as I do on a permanently installed theme park ride. I do have a second take before I go on any of the 'bigger' or more intense Carnivale rides as they feel to be less safe. I guess I have the benefit of choice living near the theme parks on the GC so I can choose to skip the carnivals rides at the Ekka or a travelling fair and just head to the parks, a double win as I save money and remove the perceived risk in my mind. If I still lived in Sydney though, I'd probably be more receptive to travelling rides as they'd be my only options for regular rides
  18. But we're you not still in the station??
  19. Sounds like he was never stuck, as he never left the station haha
  20. The coaster doesn't open for 5 months, that's plenty of time to organise something if both parties wanted/agreed to but I find that unlikely. on another note, I guess we'll have to go back to guessing the theme when they down tools at 5pm and we have no more movement for 4 days.
  21. Did a quick drive by on the way to work incase they got an early start, hoping to see the first piece in place. Unfortunately not, but the site is a buzz of activity with more supports currently being installed (low supports, small crane) didnt stop in the carpark to take a photo as we have plenty of low support photos already! Goodluck to everyone else heading down to get the first piece money shot today!
  22. Wow, this is going crazy pedantic.. its not about being able to shift blame, it's about accountability and diligence organisations have safe work practices and policies designed to keep staff and customers safe. In most organisations, after training, staff are signed off as being understanding and compliant to these policies. If an accident were to occur, whilst the organisation will be ultimately liable due to the accident occurring on their property, the staff member if found to be in breach of trained and acknowledged skills and practices, could be liable for fines from a regulating body, and disciplinary action/dismissal from the employer.
  23. Wow! That's a quick recovery! I Wish them well!
  24. A couple of Weeks or days... is that the timeframe they gave you?? No wonder we haven't had an announcement...
