Someone is coming to Dreamworld
If that’s all that is in the pipeline there won’t be a DW to put the coaster in... Depends on taste. I’d argue there is a lot more Batman fans than Consantino fans (well I don’t need to argue it, it’s a straight fact). I’ll see both as I have passes for both, but if I had passes for neither - a new Batmobile and DCR beats a magician and a still delayed SV, especially in terms of a long term commitment to a park which is what an annual pass is. It’s been near on a decade since I have not had passes to DW, and the last year or two I’ve probably only kept them as a figurative (and probably misguided) show of support through embattled times, however I don’t see a solitary reason why I should renew this year. I’ll (hopefully) get to ride SV before they expire mid year, and then there is nothing on the horizon except some shaded seats that the park down the road has. Without some MAJOR announcements coming mid year with what will likely be terrible financial year results (no doubt presented in some way to not seem so terrible) I wouldn’t be surprised if they have less than half the passholders they had 2-3 years ago

$100m indoor water park, Dingley, Melbourne.
Been to Melbourne plenty of times, and spent the first 21 years of my life in Sydney. Sydney & Brisbane are infinitely easier to navigate. If Melbourne was planned to be that way then it must have been designed by the same guys now calling the shots at Dreamworld...

Dreamworld mismanagement reaches fever pitch with tone-deaf Wipeout closure
Can’t be base level redundancies when they they are hiring base level employees.

Will Sky Voyager turn around Dreamworlds financial struggle once open?
Nope. It will provide a minor uplift and give passholders an extra ride. I don’t see it being the saviour and driving a large spike in extra passholders or interstate visitors

Sea World to launch new Thunder Lake Stunt Show
Agree with that - new pdonline is absolute rubbish.

Someone is coming to Dreamworld
To be fair he is an acclaimed award winning magician - I can’t speak for his books or movie, but he isn’t just a run of the mill hire-a-magician that does birthday parties for kids. The slow reveal tease builds chatter, interest and hype so from that angle I don’t think it was a poor marketing ploy

Big brother is not owned by DW. They have no say in its production. People getting disappointmented may as well complain to McDonalds that they want better pizzas at Dominos. Magicians have a strong history of theme park shows, my thoughts are this will be a one off for Neon Night though.

100% Consentino Wonder if it’s for Neon nights or school holiday shows

Someone is coming to Dreamworld
Yes and when the channel 10 2019 broadcast presentation took place in Nov 2018 it was clear the idea was shelved with zero mention of BB and I’m a Celeb returning. Networks don’t “hide” major productions for surprise release as they need to forward plan production and sell advertising space, of which value is attributed to hype, not secrecy
-
Someone is coming to Dreamworld
Big Brother wouldn’t be being revealed by DW, it would be revealed by the broadcaster. Production schedules are locked in well in advance, I’d be absolutely dumbfounded if it turned out to be BB (nor does it have anything to do with space or the authoring of books).

What's gone wrong with SkyVoyager?
As Mickey said, from my understanding the delays are due to structural issues with the building, not the ride itself.

Wipeout is closed for good (retired)
Not a single theme park operator or even a billionaire with cash to burn with consider doing that though, the value is in the land. If it’s being levelled, it’s to put 2000 homes on it, not rebuild a theme park

Someone is coming to Dreamworld
Whilst I can’t stand the show, I’d imagine Dr Who would have a higher global audience than 50m. “Their show” indicates a couple or group. This is Dreamworld so it’s likely to be something cheap, and no longer relevant in anyway, but currently getting some media attention. If I had to put 2+2 together to get 5, I’d say they are getting a Mr Squiggle show. -60th anniversary in the media a lot lately with Woolies doing merch and mint putting out coins. - space = “the man from the moon”. - 50m whilst I can’t find figures, it was on air for 40 years so I imagine those numbers would be quite possible - completely irrelevant to kids of today which wouldn’t surprise me with DW.

10 have had nothing but massive fails all year. The launch of their new channels failed, Im a Celebrity failed and won’t return next year. They won’t be rushing into more reality tv

To be fair, BA:TR & LTRR were replaced by rides that were planned to replace them. Whilst the consensus may not be that they were great choices, it was a plan.
-
Dreamworld Maintenance 2019
Zero % chance of that occurring. They are not going to drop $15m+ just to replace an old ride with a more modern version of the exact same thing.
-
Dreamworld Maintenance 2019
Wipeout is going so they don’t have to keep investing money into a ailing decades old attraction. I somehow doubt they’ll be rediverting funds that they weren’t wanting to spend to another ailing decades old attraction
-
Disregarding any restrictions/money, what is one attraction you would love to see at an Australian theme park of your choice?
If I’m disregarding all restrictions and money, then I’m replacing TOT & GD with a Kingda Da/TTD-esque ride that takes the global height record and includes a drop tower down the middle.

Unbuilt Disney - The Story of Disneyland Australia
Solid bump I know, but seems to the most relevant place to post this article from the Bulletin today... Gold Coast theme parks: 1998 deal for Gold Coast Disneyland dumped over $845m disagreement MARCH 08, 2019 IT took 21 years of work but entertainment giant Disney was finally keen go build its own Disneyworld on the Gold Coast. But it all went wrong and the plan fell apart. The prospect of a Gold Coast Disneyland was back in the news this week on the back of the State Government announcing it would push ahead with creating a global tourism hub. The Gold Coast nearly had its own Disneyland Leading Coast businessman Tony Cochrane, who will be part of a Gold Coast Tourism Advisory Panel, told Toursim Minister Kate Jones the tender process could lead to an entertainment giant like Disneylandpitching a project without a casino component. “I think our view will be let’s bring everything forward. Let’s look at everything. We shouldn’t rule anything out or anything in at this early stage,’’ Mr Cochrane said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for the Coast. Let’s see what they’re going to propose and where.” His comments came 21 years after the Coast came close to securing Disney, only to lose the deal in an argument over nearly $1 billion. The push to secure Disneyland for a site at Coomera first began in 1977 when the Southport-based Star Land Company began trying to woo the American company. How Gold Coast Disney would have looked. But it was not until early 1998 that things got serious when the State Government got involved. Gold Coast-based Sport Minister Mr Mick Vievers visited Disneyland in late 1997 with former Expo chairman Sir Llew Edwards, fuelling speculation that the Government was negotiating a deal with Disney Corporation to set up shop in Queensland. Talk initially centred on Bribie Island but attention soon turned to the Gold Coast and the Star land. An early concept image Initially led by the Borbidge Government and continued by Labor after it won that year’s election, taxpayers ultimately stumped up around $2 million. Operating under the working title of ‘Starland’, former premier Wayne Goss was brought in to lead the charge and was sent to the US by the Government to negotiate with the Walt Disney company. There was strong support from the Gold Coast City Council’s Cr Jan Grew. An overview of the Disney site at Coomera. Less than two months after taking office, Premier Peter Beattie wrote to Disney saying he wanted an answer on whether the project would go ahead by September 1998. Disney responded that month saying it would require millions of dollars in support to make the theme park viable. “For a Disney project to be feasible, it would require direct government support including land, infrastructure, tax incentives and capital dollars for construction costs of the theme park of at least $US300 million to $US500 million, most likely toward the upper end of this range,” the company said. Former Premier Wayne Goss Picture: Nathan Richter A month later, Mr Beattie wrote to the Disney organisation seeking a clear indication by the end of September as to whether the Starland project had sufficient support for a full financial feasibility study to proceed. But Disney hit back claiming the “economics” were “difficult”. “At this time, we do not have sufficient confidence that the project will receive enough financial support for it to be feasible, and therefore, do not wish to risk creating false expectations either among the public, government leaders or Star Land Company. Premier Peter Beattie in 1998. “Therefore, unless your government is willing to commit to this type of funding, we don’t believe that probabilities warrant further time and energy being spent …’’ The Premier then wrote to Star Land chairman Dr J. Carmichael that the Government appreciated the substantial effort and commitment by the company to the development of the project. “In the circumstances, I advise that the Queensland Government is not prepared to provide any further funding to the Star Land Company for the Starland project,’’ he said.

Biggest load of crock I have ever heard. The ride has needed to go for years, but to make it out like there is this undeniable request from visitors for additionally shaded seating “near major rides” is ridiculous. The biggest undercover seated area in the park is a 30 second walk away, and there is further shaded seating in front of Flowrider. the park can’t attract enough to people to fill the existing bloody seats they have. I would argue not a single person has requested a “chill out zone”. There has been something major wrong with it for years. As is general standard when someone without “runs on the board” announces aomething as fact without much detail in how/why they have this information
