Could/Is Wonderland relocating or changing setup?
Daniel replied to rewindniwer's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Rewindniwer, welcome to the forum old son. Good to have you on board. However, please watch the spelling. Just quietly, there is a resident Spelling Nazi wandering around.... DIASPPEARING, THERE, SEPARATE, STACKS (if you really have to use that word), BETTER. When you say changing the setup, what do you mean? The only rides that have relocated have come from elsewhere (i.e. HB) to 'patch up' holes left by rides removed. They've been disappearing because they are all mostly old, second hand rides. Parts get hard to come by, get louder, more expensive and much harder to fix. That's why. It's fair enough they are removed, but everyone's frustration with the place comes from them not being replaced. Wildlife Park movement? What are you talking about? Enlighten us all will you? Restrictions? What are they? Other than height. You can't get too much more of a remote location without being in the sticks.. Great location right there, 1 minute from the Motorway off ramp, however near nothing else basically. The Beach having its own entrance seems logical. I like it. I've thought about that before. Charge people ten or twelve bucks to get in the Beach only. That can be done and would be easy to police anyone that might try and dodge the 50 bucks park admission. Maybe too logical for them. They're not going to move! Where are they going to get land in Sydney that is worth so much money by putting houses on it? They don't need to move. The cost would be astronomical. They'd need all new rides because I'm tipping the existing ones wouldn't like a move too much. Why would they purchase more land when they're sitting on $50 million worth? -
Like I said, there's a difference between putting sh*t on someone and smearing it all over them, which is exactly what you are doing. You're referring to someone's performance as an operator just because they use their foot every now and then, whilst they're doing other things. All I can say is if that's the biggest safety issue against your name as an operator you're doing pretty well. Of course it was done in front of supervisors, it's not really a big issue is it? Why should they care? Just like baseball and cricket umpires, operators have their own little idiosyncrasies. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have ever done it and I definitely won't be the last. It's called time management if you ask me. While dispatching the ride you can be filling out the count sheet, other paper work etc. It beats holding it down while the train leaves the station with your hand and it sure beats holding it down while it comes from the emergency brakes right down to the dispatch brakes. It's basically the same principle as a dead man button. There's another thing, people using height sticks for dead man buttons. No I never did that, and wouldn't for that matter. People have/do. Doesn't mean to say I wouldn't use my foot though Re: your camera question, no it hasn't happened to any of us because we won't let them take it on in the first place! That's why you're answer is going to be no. By the way, I only insult when it's warranted!

Hand... foot... who gives a crap when you're know what you're doing. It's like you Richard using your remote control for your TV because you didn't want to get up. What difference does it make? You get the same result. As an unloader you can stand on the station. Instead of being outside of the gate when you close it, be inside you gimp... :? You've seen unloaders inside you goose.
-
Tell me, is it procedure to press buttons with your hand? Richard, I know what you're implying and you're trying to have a go at me here? I don't see how you can justify making a comment like that. Somebody's performance as a ride operator isn't judged by them holding down a button with their foot. Learn the difference between putting sh*t on someone and smearing sh*t all over them.
-
There's a big bloody difference between using a foot to press a button and plainly breaking safety procedures. How can you compare the two? That's the worst insult anyone's ever given me on this forum. You've got to be kidding. I don't see what that has to do with the price of bloody fish anyway. I didn't say that there's no chance of staff taking shortcuts anyway. It's pretty rare at Demon these days, if at all. They know, if they get caught, they'll get their balls fried. If you happened to be an unloader, as if you'd be walking along the station while the ride's going anyway. They're standing up having a yarn with the operator  I can't believe you dribbled that Rich, with all due respect.
-
They don't have to be new people... Probably 2 or 3 were getting trained. I wasn't trained on Dodgems until about 6 months after I started... It's not a matter of starting and getting trained on everything on your first day. There's people that have been there for years that still have even 5 or 6 rides to go.
-
Rich, there's no chance of the operator tripping over someone's bag while the ride's going due to the fact they're in the operators booth with the gate shut. The operator behind their locked gate, otherwise the train can't dispatch and the unloader is outside the locked exit gate. The raised platform at Demon is there for the use of the operator/unloader, and is used by them while checking harnesses so they don't have to contend with such objects. Your theory re: tripping in front of the train isn't any good. You better come up with a better argument now That's the reason unloaders must stand outside the exit gate. Both gates have to be closed otherwise the train isn't going anywhere.
-
Don't forget that whoever was being trained needed to be trained by a trainer...

It's like most other threads Chippy, it veers off track mate. She'll be right.
-
Hey Liam, do you like sex and travel?
-
Someone's got to do it old son. By the way, YOU'RE and HERE you illiterate person you.
-
INTRIGUED, ACTUALLY
-
Carpenter, Do you want to try again please? :? This time in English.
-
I'm all over the spelling and grammar issue like a rash Rich. You might have noticed over the last few weeks. I'll get them making sense soon enough. They obviously don't teach it at school anymore.

My oath it would Scream. What are you talking about? You've got the IQ of a room temperature

Jozzy Boy, IT'S. Like I said on the closure of HB (It will forever be HB, bugger that LWL crap), it all falls back to money. You're exactly right in what you're saying Joz. They don't have to pay cleaners to clean the area, they don't have to pay food and beverage staff for the food outlets, no retail staff for shops, no games attendants, no maintenance staff for the rides and of course no operators. Probably as a guess, and a minimum I will say, 50 or 60 shifts per day. Lets say that everyone who was up there did a 6 hour paid day. We'll underestimate a little and assume $72 for the day was the average wage. Don't forget that these figures are grossly underdone. That's give or take $4000 a day, just in wages. Then we have cost of actually running the rides. Keeping their required maintenance up to them etc... It was probably as a guess remember, costing them in excess of $10,000 a day to have HB open. Thousands at least anyway. They obviously couldn't justify it being open with the numbers they were/are getting through the gates. So they shut it to save some bucks. Don't forget just 5 rides came down from HB. It took them more than 18 months to get those 5 down, with the last being Balloons in about March or so of this year.

Show us some real rides, not some sideshow pieces of rubbish

REGARDING, SHOOED, HYDRANT, ASSISTANCE, KNOCKED, REVISITED Sounds almost as sensational as the codswallop that was Action Man. They won't let you take your own photos because they want you to buy them from the shop, for which they no doubt have to pay a royalty or something for.

I say NUFFINK re: the parade. Boxing Day was pretty packed here last year though. GoBoi, APPARENTLY.
-
You got our weather from yesterday mate by the sounds of it. I nearly carked it! Our hottest Christmas Day since 1983.
-
Money mate. That's what it all comes down to. Spelling was good that post but your diction sucked.
-
Sure did Joz. Dropped yourself in the poop there old son.
-
That's kind of a little better Shifty. Only just. You repeated the same thing 14 times in that post, just a different way 'I' is always a capital when it stands alone. BECAUSE (twice), ATTENDANCE, IT’S. Other than that, you're slowly improving mate.
-
Yeah stopping for air is also vital. I think I'm going to explode sometimes. My face goes blue and I start going in and out of consciousness. S-L-O-W down Hussy and Shifty. Did you guys get that spell checker for Christmas? JAG, did you? I'll go bagging whatever I want to Huss. There's a lot of people that support my anti-model building sentiments on this forum old son. It's not just me being a hard to get along with bastard you know, as much as you'd wish it to be and you probably think it is. It's something that doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I may have tried it for all you know. How much different can it be from a model car anyway? Boring as bat crap... Get outside this summer, take your pooch for a walk, throw a frisbee. Do something outside this summer. If you want to build models at least do it in winter when you're meant to be inside. Scream, did you mean CONTINUING old son? By the way, your camera girl post was meaningless. I know, I know, you're just trying to knock up a quick ton so you can rename your title. Also if Rich banned me again, the average IQ of this place would drop too much  muhahaha
-
I'd rather watch paint dry to be honest, but look, if it turns you on, go for it! If it's your cup of tea that's cool. Alright, I'll stop paying out on ya's (ON THIS SUBJECT ONLY ) No pics of a Huss. They're almost as boring as ride models... ... Not intererested in carny rides. Fixed rides I know a little more. Did you mean what's wrong with model rides Joz? I'm sure you did and it was probably just a typo.
