Tiger Island Refurbishment - Dreamworld 2016
DisneyDoll replied to Jay Jay The Jet Plane's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'd like to see the riverboat returned as I think it gave the park some atmosphere & the caves in the Log Ride themed a lot better, even lengthened. -
'World Best' Attraction coming to VRTP
DisneyDoll replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The older ones were quite noisy but there are many improvements they have made to the modern woodies that cut a lot of it down. There are also many exciting new things these modern wooden coasters can do including loops so I'd personally LOVE to see one built. I would also love a new dark ride as well but after the failure ( IMHO of course ) of Justice League, I doubt they will go down that path again anytime soon. -
'World Best' Attraction coming to VRTP
DisneyDoll replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I just hope it's something that's worth this hype. Like OceanGirl, I also am hopeful for a new coaster or dark ride. If it's a waterslide I will be extremely disappointed no matter how good it is. -
I think that's a great idea, it's a lovely little park & I think it's long overdue.

Yes the resort at Sea World isn't as far to the park as Disneyland. I assume you stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel as it's the least close hotel. The resort itself was nice enough with some good amenities for the kids to do. The room had a small balcony & was clean & fresh. You enter the park from the rear entrance & when we stayed there, we found little or no crowds at all to get in. I hope you have a great time :-)

Well this could make a trip to Melbourne a little more tempting for all those haunt fans if this pans out http://if.com.au/2015/10/29/article/Madman-finds-thrills-and-chills-in-theme-park/SDVBAREOOQ.html

Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
DisneyDoll replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Nice shots Xexon. Wasn't this area the old queue section? I rode it several times but it was years ago & I kind of remember this was the right position for it. The track used to do a drop then a sweeping right turn above the heads of those in the queue where the corrugated steel is. -
I agree completely, Australia needs a wonderful wooden coaster.... It's been a long time between drinks

I went thru one of these type of attractions at Universal years ago. It was based on the Mummy, that was enough for me. I just don't understand the fascination of these attractions. I know there are millions of people who love them but being scared half to death by actors is not my idea of a good time.

I couldn't agree more, it is a lovely park to look at. The gardens are very spectacular & it has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. The food there was also top notch not only at the park but at the Disneyland Hotel where we stayed. When I visited there were many people from the mainland over that four day period, I'm guessing this is the norm. I fear that if they don't add more rides quickly, they will lose these visitors after the park in Shanghai opens because by all I've seen & heard at the D23 Expo, it will be one amazing park.

Gold Coast almost got Disneyland.

I'd love to see a Disney Resort here however I do feel that the prices they charge for Aulani are rather steep. We looked into going when it first opened & were shocked at the cost. You expect to pay more for Disney but this was just too much. I just revisited it again to see what was on offer. Even at 25% off & staying 4 nights in January ( 2016 ) its $2185 AUD for a family of four. The resort looks amazing but that's a serious sum for those few days. Then add meals, airfares, cars etc. -
Regardless HOW old it is, the park still needs more rides in my opinion.
-
I waited till they opened Mystic Manor, Toy Story Land & Big Grizzly Mountain as I'd heard the original park's line up of rides was sparse. Even with these additions, it still just took two days to see everything including all the shows as I mentioned. This is exactly why I feel they need to add some more attractions to the park before building a new one. That's just my opinion but I've been to most Disney Parks around the world & this one is lacking in rides even though it is has beautiful gardens, they are no match for the likes of Pirates, Splash Mtn, Indiana Jones etc. They could also do with some more dark rides in Fanatasyland, again...just my opinion.
-
Second park???...I think they should put a LOT more in this one first. We spent 4 days there & basically saw it all including the shows after two.
-
LOL...Yes, I had some when I was there recently & it was beyond gross

As Alex mentioned in the comment you reposted above, Luna Park is HERITAGE LISTED. Nothing short of the old buildings accidently burning to the ground would enable them to build it from the ground up again.

Luna Park Sydney - the future with Wet'n'Wild
DisneyDoll replied to JulieLovis's topic in Theme Park Discussion
That IS interesting & wouldn't it be a nice new addition for the park? Then again, maybe it could be a promo for what's in store for Halloween. -
Disney sells crap to park guests
DisneyDoll replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I don't think Walt would've approved & I find the whole concept tacky. Yes I agree....They are mind blowing, the one I had was as tough as a boot, I threw it out after a couple of bites. -
Aussie World rocks IMHO.

What American Park do YOu most want to visit?

I'd love to visit Cedar Point as it has so many coasters. -
Luna Park Sydney- Future rides and attractions
DisneyDoll replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
You are incorrect, the original Big Dipper was made of wood & ran across the top of both the ghost Train & River Caves rides. This was between 1935 & 1979 when a fire that originated in the Ghost Train destroyed that side of the park. You are talking about the metal replacement coaster that is now in Dreamworld not the original one pictured below on the left. Yes Alex I did say that, I was the coordinator for the social events in my company so I had no choice, attendance was mandatory & the company wanted to use Luna Park as it's venue. If I had the choice I would've picked a different place to have them. I also said that " Luna Park is an amusement park & as such should be that first & a concert, band, stage show venue last & again, that is my opinion. I am more than aware that it generates a lot of revenue for the park but once again, I don't have to like it. -
Luna Park Sydney- Future rides and attractions
DisneyDoll replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thank you Alex but there is no need to mansplain this to me. I understand what an entertainment venue is, I am also aware of the Heritage Listing of all the older structures at the park. Just so you know, I’ve actually been to the Big Top on many occasions over the past 11 years, I am a Sydney sider & my old work used to have functions there each year. My point is that Luna Park is an amusement park & as such, should be that first & a concert, band , stage show venue last…. That is my opinion & I feel the space taken up by the Big Top robs the park of much needed space for rides. It’s there & seems to work for them but there is no reason that everyone has to like it or think it a worthwhile trade-off for more rides & especially a much needed coaster. -
Luna Park Sydney- Future rides and attractions
DisneyDoll replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Really?...It wouldn't bring me back. As I said, they could send the supports through the Big Top & run the coaster over the top of it. They may need to adjust the ceiling height but I feel it could be done. The park is desperate for a rollercoaster, yes it will age, the original one was there for 44 years & was still the most popular ride at the park when it closed. There is also another venue on the opposite side of the park nearer the water so I think two venues & no coaster is stupid. -

I agree with Alex, keep it in tune with the retro theme of what's left of the original park. Get rid of that Big Top venue OR do what they did with the original Big Dipper & sink supports through it ( they did this with the old Ghost Train & River Caves ) & run it above the venue. This would give them plenty of room for a nice sized coaster.
