  1. I volunteer to ride it on the weekend to confirm or disprove your claim. Now, could you arrange me a ride please? In seriousness, this thing is so smooth and quiet, it's likely the absence of the sound of wheels on rails could be giving you that impression. There is no way that all the wheels aren't in constant contact with the track. There is no obvious variance in thickness of the tracks on any photo in this thread during the last few weeks of construction. In the cycle 2 vid I posted on the last page, almost all coaster noise was from Green Lantern.
  2. Anything that distracts from the enormity and signature element that is the non-inverting loop, is a detraction.
  3. The above photos were from the first run, then my vids are from runs 2 and 4 (out of 5 that I saw).
  4. Assuming the weather holds out (storm Thursday, showers on the weekend?), I can't see why a soft opening in the middle of September couldn't happen. One of my vids of this thing in action is being processed in YouTube atm. Link shortly. I really wished FTTP NBN was on in my suburb!
  5. Once I get some bandwidth tonight, I'll upload both vids I took.
  6. Grabbed a coffee and went to my car to leave - parked near the fence. Just as I was loading up, I hear a 2 second horn blast. Yep, they cycled Rivals! Got a video but it's just the same as others already in this thread. Guess the horn is to warn workers onsite. EDIT / 3rd cycle as I type!
  7. Sight lines are completely different now - and I like it. The pano above from the fountain, and this pic below, outside of SDSC. Dunno if it was intentional, but seeing tops of GL/Rivals/Superman/Batwing together certainly adds excitement.
  8. Random things from today's MW visit: - You can see the top of Rivals' lift hill as you come out from the Hope Island underpass on the M1 👍 - The MRT queue video isn't playing on Superman. @Slick you got anything in the pipeline? 🤔 😜 - RideOp at Scooby had solid belief that the front half would pretty much look the same as it used to. Yeah yeah I know, they're just a RideOp and not Graham Burke. - I rode Arkham for the first time in many years - and its still a violently rough ride. I'd hate to have ridden it back when the Parkz regulars were complaining! - The acceleration of Superman is still breathtaking, and will never not be. - These skylines. Seriously. - Just rode SDSC for the first time in its current state. Interesting as a layout learning experience, but sorely needing theming. Personally I'd like to see the theming extended all the way to the turntable.
  9. Is there any obvious indication a test cycle is imminent? By that I mean Mack staff moving around, other on-site work stoppage etc. Hoping to catch Rivals running today. Some better pics of the wavy hair structure: How many test cycles so far? There's already wheel marks on the paint: Queue area proceeding nicely: (above 2 pics shot thru fence at GL/JL)
  10. Going by the mounting points on it towards the front of the trailer, you're probably right.
  11. There's 2 flatbed semi trailers being unloaded atm, both with steel framework, visually different from the ride's supports. I can't make out Joker on either of them. Possibly for queue, theming or the bridge ? Its Logan Steel doing the job here. FruitPhone only today.. I wonder if Andrew could grab me one of the few dozen empty 'Mack' crates? 😜 I jest, but MW if you're reading this, fans would love these to be given away. [edit - addition] 3 trailer loads and counting. Occasional pieces looked right to affix to the mounting points at the top of the hill. Polite conversation with a guy onsite reveals it is Joker! No other pics will help as it's just grey angular steelwork at this point. Assembly over the next few days (lighting etc to go in too).
  12. Been watching recently: Commando Santa's Buffalo Valley; Planet Brocoaster (& tips); DeLady Signer's Rio Bravo; Koali Beach, by Silvarret, DeLady Signer, Koalis and Rudi Rennkamel. Soon to watch: Pixel Island by PixelWess; Alpine Odyssey by Uthris; Jubilee Gardens by CommandoSanta and RubleTrillions.
  13. Pretty sure @Skeeta was implying the Theme Park memorabilia black market. I'm quite sure there's going to be quite a few security cameras around the whole Rivals precinct.
  14. ABC Brisbane's Brekky host Craig Zonka and a listener got to ride The Beast, pre-Ekka opening. Ignore his reaction, he's "not a ride guy", and focus on the ride itself. Looks fast and powerful. If I make it to the Ekka, I'm certainly going to ride it. Does @HussRainbow87 appear in the video?
  15. Agreed. I also liked the Venice part of Moonraker.
  16. Some amazing videos of late: And a brilliant Portal 2 ride, bit iffy on the Heroes crossover though.
  17. I wonder if this queue area theming will have wrist band interactivity like the Villains area? Also, I'm another in the 'damn that's high' group - even after seeing the video and knowing Hypers get to 60+metres: Damn, that's high.
  18. Keep an eye out on Brisbane Cosplayer Zerebin on Facebook - he's making a huge Bastion cosplay.
  19. I guess it depends on who's traveling with you, but I definitely recommend a trip to Kennedy Space Center. It could serve as a day off from parks if people are feeling not coaster-enthused that day, and it's quite an amazing historical US site to visit. Actual rockets still there, one of the shuttles, plenty for kids, bus tours to the pad (if SpaceX aren't launching)... the Atlantic Ocean is only 30 mins from NASA if you want to tick that off any bucket lists. Obviously the rest of your trip sounds awesome, I had a blast at Universal/IOA back in 2009.
  20. ANOTHER new update to follow the recent Summer update! Furthermore, micro transaction DLC is here, in the form of Universal Intellectual Property. You can get go carts and scenery for Back to the Future, The Munsters, and Knight Rider.
  21. You and I both know their copy/paste answer to that...
