  1. I personally agree with @DaptoFunlandGuythat the Treehouse should be operating during the night. It gives the kids a fun thing to do while at the market and a place to run around and have fun. I have good memories of playing in a play place similar to BTH in Bendigo when I was a kid and I’m sure many others have the same memories. I’m not saying they should open every ride up but I do think that a few would be good to give people some entertainment. The only other one that would fit the markets besides BTH/Wave Swinger would be The Claw in my opinion. It fits the general atmosphere of the event and would be good for the thrill seekers.
  2. In some big news, RMC and Larson International are merging to form a single operating identity, with the promise to create a "powerhouse in the amusement industry". The new organization will make a portfolio of family and thrill rides. Both companies will combine their engineering R&D efforts to further drive innovations for both companies. Additional operating synergies will be derived through leveraging manufacturing capacity and streamlining back-office operations including benefits, accounting, software licensing etc. After 30+ years with Larson, President Jeff Novotny has elected to retire, however his son Hunter will be a key part of the new company. All existing staff and management will be retained at the new company. The new company will be lead by Darren Toor (president of RMC) who will serve as president and CEO. RMC is committed to "building dreams" by consistently delivering award winning rides. Going forward, RMC will continue building existing ride platforms as well as develop new and differentiated rides. "I am excited to bring together these two incredible organizations," stated Toor. "Our values are closely aligned, and I look forward to future success by putting out incredible rides, providing a great value, and treating our customers and crew members like family." Both companies have collaborated for several years on many projects. The merger provides current Larson International customers with the same quality rides and service that they have known for years and provides the Larson International staff the opportunity to grow, learn and contribute to a different side of the industry. Adding the proven product line from Larson gives RMC additional diversity and allows RMC to deliver rides to any size of operator.
  3. If that were to happen, I feel like it would operate for around a year under Cedar Fair and then closed at the same time as Geauga Lake so that most rides can be relocated to other parks in the chain. I would hope it kept operating though under Cedar Fair but we can only imagine what it would be like.
  4. Something I have noticed that has happened with rides like Toboggans and Go Karts at many parks in out country. The parks have speed limited them so you can’t go racing down the hill at maximum speed without brakes etc on a toboggan, or go very fast on a go kart. I personally don’t like how this has happened, as it takes away the fun aspect of the ride. Let’s take a look at some examples: First, let’s go to Funfields in Whittlesea which has many waterslides and rides for people to enjoy. Some of the rides they have are go karts and a toboggan track that goes down the hill. I went in February with 3 others and went on the toboggan. Even know I was going fast, it felt like I was going very slow, which is because the toboggans were apparently speed limited. I didn’t go on the go karts, but I was looking at them and Dad noticed they were going slow. Next, we will go to Adventure World in Perth that is very similar to Funfields, although they don’t have a toboggan. One of the rides they have are go karts. I haven’t actually been yet but I have heard they were also speed-limited like the ones at Funfields which makes them much less unenjoyable. Personally, I hate the idea of speed limiting attractions of rides where people can control their own speed. Back before it used to be really fun where you could go down a hill really fast on a toboggan, but now they are speed-limited so you can only go up to a certain speed. IMO I would rather a warning where the park states they would not pay for people hurting themselves by going too fast, rather than ruining it for the thrill seekers. My dad also agrees with me and hates that rides are speed-limited so much the fun is taken away. What do you think?
  5. IIRC there is still one. Not sure but I would guess around less than Movie World etc. Unfortunately you will miss out on the wild mouse as it has been closed for 8 months. You can still check out the Boomerang, Little Nipper and of course BDIII.
  6. I personally hope it is replaced by another top spin in the same location and named "Rampage II". Retain the theming but change the ride and name. But to be honest it is probably going to be replaced by the same thing as Wipeout (shaded seating) Another thing I would like is a well themed family coaster in the park. Possibly a Wild Mouse near the front of the park. Hopefully not a Vekoma SFC450 though as 2 other parks are already getting one.
  7. As many of us know, Wonderland Sydney was once a theme park in Western Sydney that operated between 1985 to 1994 and was the biggest theme park in Australia. It was originally operated by a mixture of companies, including James Hardie, Leighton Holdings (now CIMIC Holdings) NSW State Annuation Holdings and Taft Broadcasting Parks. The latter bought the Hanna-Barbera characters to the park as well as relocated rides from Kings Island and other parks owned by Taft Broadcasting, although it didn't have a majority stake. In 1992, Taft Broadcasting Parks was bought out by Paramount Communications (now Paramount Global) and rebranded its parks as Paramount's (name) in 1994. However, Wonderland Sydney wasn't bought out by Paramount as they didn't want it due to them only having a minority stake and it being on the other side of the world. Tafts shares in the park were sold to James Hardie. The park was bought out by Sunway Group in 1997, who screwed up the park and closed it in 2004, branding it for a number of reasons including 9/11, Bali Bombings, the Iraq War and SARS. However, what if the park was bought out by Paramount in 1992? Here's what I think would've happened: Paramount Era Like the other parks, it would've most likely been branded to have the Paramount prefix in its name. My guess is it would've been branded as "Paramount Australia's Wonderland" similar to how Paramount Canada's Wonderland was branded. Nick characters would've been added at Wonderland eventually instead of at Dreamworld and the Hanna-Barbera characters would remain (most likely wouldn't have an effect on SDSC as it was based on the 2002 movie). It would also likely been sold to Cedar Fair by CBS as CBS didn't want any theme parks. Cedar Fair Era Like the other parks again, it would've been branded as "Australia's Wonderland" again like from 1985-1994 by Cedar Fair. The Nick and HB characters could've remained until 2010 like the former Paramount Parks, until they were replaced by Peanuts like the other CF parks. Unfortunately, it would've most likely been a lower-tier park (Worlds of Fun, Michigan's Adventure etc.) and not get as much investment as the other sister parks just like how it didn't before it was sold (Taft wanted it to be smaller than the others IIRC). So this is what could've happened if Paramount/Cedar Fair bought Wonderland like the rest of the parks and would've been the only park in the chain outside North America. Unfortunately, this is just in my imagination, and it is now gone in real life. At least one of its old sister parks will be joining them soon with California's Great America closing soon. It is good to wonder though, tell me what you think.
  8. Looks like the theatre background is now a screen. Looks good and is helpful so it can be used for multiple shows. Only thing is that it can wear out and will need to be replaced at some point. Love the 3D signs rather than the 2D ones used previously for Madagascar. One thing I don't like however is that there is less theming than Dreamworks. Also that the grey track sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the pavement.
  9. Some changes to the maintenance schedule: Play School Wheel is now from 9 October until 8 December Shockwave is from 29 October until 7 December Candy Flier is from 12 June to 23 June
  10. Unfortunately I doubt it would still be here if Wonderland survived, as Disney would've most likely taken it away at the end of the licensing deal.
  11. Sadly I don’t think I’ll be able to meanwhile. I haven’t been there yet so I guess the date I will ride it is never.
  12. Sydney Royal Easter Show Slingshot at Raging Waters Sydney
  13. Thanks to everyone for explaining. So it seems VRTP pay WB for characters and licensing that they want, and WB doesn't choose what ones, they just give the tick of approval for VRTP to use the characters in certain attractions etc. some are allowed in rides, some aren't. VRTP realise HB is not relevant and LT is more relevant which is why they have Looney Tunes and not Hanna-Barbera. Another question: If VRTP realise some characters from other studios are more relevant than some from WB, then could they make a deal with Paramount, Sony etc. to put franchises from them in Movie World without WB having any say? It seems that they already do this sometimes with the mazes at Fright Nights (only 2 mazes were WB that was the IT and The Conjuring mazes IIRC) and the Shrek show that happened.
  14. We all know that Hanna-Barbera is owned by Warner Bros, and the WB parks use it to their advantage. Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi has rides based on Scooby Doo, The Jetsons and The Flintstones, and Parque Warner Madrid has rides based on The Flintstones, Yogi Bear and Scooby Doo. What does Warner Bros Movie World have based on HB? Nothing. Yes, they have Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster, but that it based on the 2002 movie that comes from Warner Bros, not Hanna-Barbera. Here is my reason why they don’t have it: Movie World does not have permission to use Hanna-Barbera characters. It is another reason why the Kids WB area has Looney Tunes only, and none from Hanna-Barbera. If they did have HB rights I’m sure they would use it. So basically SDSC has to remain based on the films, not the show due to them not allowed to use Hanna-Barbera.
  15. We already have one at Movie World. (Scooby). I would rather a dark boat ride to make up for the losses of LTRR and BT.
  16. Another good thing about the theatre is that it can be used for multiple things (much like the Nick one) when it was Madagascar it could only be used for that only.
  17. I'm guessing Bella will be the one making you wet with her gun?
  18. Yes, I know Justice League was only introduced 10 years ago and had a refurb not long ago. However, I am wondering what it could be replaced with, seeing as it is very unpopular. I reckon after Scooby/WoO we will see it removed TBH. What I would like - a river ride based on Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It fits into the "classic movies" thing that MW is going for with WoO, also is one of Warner's most popular franchises.
  19. Not sure TBH. If it keeps being this unreliable I feel they should just get rid of it. It’s hidden away from the current DC area so I would rather just replace the whole area with something new. In other news, Batwing has been extended a week. No change for Superman.
  20. If they do put more filler, I would personally sacrifice Speedy Gonzales for it, because: Oldest ride in the park (only one remaining from opening) JDS offers the same thing but 90cm+ can go on, including 145cm+ One of the least popular kids rides
  21. Wow! That went up fast. I could see it opening in the next few weeks or so for the Easter School Holidays.
  22. Unfortunately, the Hollywood version is smaller than the Japan/Epic Universe ones, which have the Mario Kart ride and Yoshi's Adventure as well as the Donkey Kong expansion coming soon. IIRC the Singapore version will be based off Hollywood's version. The theming looks great though, great job by Pico Play (They made the Japan version, not sure about the Hollywood one). The new WoO land concept art at Movie World kind of reminds me of SNW TBH, makes sense as I am pretty sure its going to be by Pico as well.
  23. I was hoping for it to be from the end of October till the start of holidays, but unfortunately its not. At least I will be going with all the coasters (exc. Scooby) open.
