  1. 100% this. If they remain on this trajectory DW will be unbeatable in their offering. Im sure GY has plans for moto, rocky hollow area and the rest of the vacant land that’ll be equal to or better than Rivertown… the man just needs some $$$ to get it done
  2. IMHO it looks like it’s been done on the cheap. MW need to ask for some refunds for their $100M, or have a serious look at their procurement processes. I wouldn’t exactly say it’s “immersive” theming, with the exception of the one bit of queue for FOTWW. Everything else is just themed. The rides themselves are great, and well done to MW for bringing some fun & variety to the GC ride lineup. But to harp on about the millions spent, the immersive theming and all that just set the bar too high, and they couldn’t reach it in the end. Also, someone needs to have their execs line up for a ride in 34c+ sunshine for an hour +. They NEED fans, shade and aircon for the inside bits.
  3. Because normally every ride eligible to be open (I.e not under maintenance or tech issue on the day) is usually open for every night event… I was too looking forward to riding them at night today. Guess there’s always next year 😒
  4. We have an opening date… To our valued passholders, We’re thrilled to announce that ALL attractions in Rivertown will officially open this Monday, 23 December!
  5. Keen to see if/how that changes when they run different courses. I know Greg has mentioned previously you could possibly have a new ride experience each time… but surely there’s a limit to the combinations. I wonder what it is
  6. Might be a thing for kids… Riders under 10 must wear it maybe? …or even moreso kids under 5
  7. Doesn’t necessarily mean they are never intending on running more than one. It’s a soft opening, they’re not going to have 2 trains running
  8. God damn those models are schmick! I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again… GC Theme Parks are really upping the ante! Both deserve huge props for the standard they’re setting. Let’s hope they maintain it and continue to develop to this standard moving forward
  9. @Rabbit2014 what’s so disappointing about these?
  10. That’s awesome to hear! Was each ride the same or different layout?
  11. Could we see a Steven Bradbury moment?? (Hopefully without MW stumbling) …I should’ve read all the updates before I replied. Incredible to see them open to guests! Anyone got photos on the cars on the track instead of the photo op?
  12. From what I’ve read across multiple outlets there was no release. They instead provided a statement to media, assumedly in response to Courier Mail’s inquiries: “In November 2022, Dreamworld shared its intention to transition Tiger Island to an environment in which tigers and handlers do not interact directly,” it said in a statement. “Since this time, Dreamworld has invested significantly in upgrading its tiger habitats and pfacilities to enable this transition. Construction of the alterations required is near complete. “The safety of team members, guests and animals are Dreamworld’s highest priority.” It continued: “As a result, Dreamworld has now transitioned its tiger program to a non-handled operation. Heres my assumed timeline of events They announce the transition in 2022 They get cracking on construction (behind the scenes they start transitioning) There was the incident They said after the incident they’d conduct a full review … **crickets**/courier mail’s clicks were dropping Courier Mail start contacting the park saying, hey where’s the review? We haven’t shat on a Gold Coast theme park for a few months now… So, DW release a statement saying they have transitioned to non-contact and their new Tiger island isn’t complete yet. Courier Mail twist the statement to suit their click bait.
  13. I have a gut feeling it might be a certain someone who used to run Tiger Island, or even Mr Mucci
  14. Cmon courier mail… bullshit reporting again. spinning the narrative. Greg announced they were putting an end to human and tiger contact back when he announced jungle rush in 2022. This wasn’t a move made after a handler was attacked.
  15. What type of Rollercoaster would you find in the Amazon Jungle? it’s called a theme park bro… talk about being obtuse 🙄 To help you with your creativity, here’s some examples of what I was thinking…
  16. Wooden fence is just an example. I’m sure Pico could come up with something amazing that looks like it’s been sitting in the Amazon jungle for 20 years, yet still meet all the regulations They’ll also know how to ensure it doesn’t obscure views
  17. Oh yeah I’m totally nitpicking like a bit of an a-hole. who knows there could still be theming to be attached to it or something… Considering the amount of rain in the past 2 months as well… huge! I think it’s more a $ issue. It a huge expenditure to demo it without very little return. They’re better off leaving it until they’ve either got cash to splash, or they can incorporate the demo costs into something that will sell more tickets (like a new ride in that space)
  18. Ditto. Mannnn they’ve done good and there’s still a tad more to go! I’m going to be one of those people and highlight the chain link fencing… really wish they were themed to suit! Something like an old rickety wooden fence look would’ve been incredible. Maybe they still will be, or maybe they’ll be hidden once it grows in. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Cannot wait for opening!
  19. Credit where credit’s due. DW have held steady on that $99 price point for some years. It’s been that long I can’t even remember when my renewal was anything less. Given the offering has continued to improve, they need to be commended on that one. 👏 IMO I don’t think it’s a scummy thing to do. The full price is immediately below. If DW had monthly memberships like VRTP used to do, I’m sure you’d expect them to display the per month price larger than the total over 12 months without thinking it’s scummy… so what’s the diff? Pretty sure this is marketing 101… Make the prices look as small as possible, make the discounts look as big as possible. Ever noticed how ALL companies will advertise prices as “from”? Buy these products from only $1! Then, Black Friday deals up to 99% off store-wide! Is it scummy that VRTP add all this extra “value” to their passes? INCLUDES $245 IN BONUS VALUE When you dig a little deeper, it’s $245 worth of discounts/vouchers and you have to spend an extra $400+ to actually unlock this value
  20. That’s exactly what has happened. Quite a lot of management (and staff for that matter) at DW is ex-VRTP.
  21. Relax Hollywood. Having a dig at you for your regular negativity towards DW isn’t all of us wanting to talk about you.
  22. Where’s @New display name? Too far fetched to think they might open for DW’s anni on the 15th?
  23. *chef’s kiss* I think the days of 2D shitty signage are gone for GC theme parks
