Wizard of Oz - Movie World Arkham Asylum Replacement

Yeah it’s a bit ridiculous. They hold majority of the line inside within the first half of the queue, then sending a small group to wait at the halfway point of the cattle run in that random shade part, then the final small group of 20ish would wait before the castle. I don’t think the forest is actually air conned as waiting around those stairs was torture, not as bad as in the sun, but not as nice as when you first walk inside and the queues split. Also, was it just me or was the final “cattle run” leaving both rides leave you feeling like you’re walking a prison exercise yard? (Thankfully haven’t experienced it in real life) -

If anyone’s interested, I grabbed a commemorative WOZ coin from the little one’s new annual pass. It’s a nice touch… wish both parks did this over the years for all the ride openings. -

Rivertown is ~$60M + Steel Taipan was ~$33M… there’s still $7M left to spend… No chance it’s because we’re just in Aus and things are more expensive. If not shelter because it might impact the theming… at the very least some bloody fans! The 80min line up for FOTWW was torture in the sun with barely a breeze. It was actually a slight relief when the ride went past and there was a small whoosh… Not sure if more will be added… atleast not anytime soon. If they really did spend $100M it’s going to take some time before they’ve got more funds to spend on any improvements or additions to it all. -

IMHO it looks like it’s been done on the cheap. MW need to ask for some refunds for their $100M, or have a serious look at their procurement processes. I wouldn’t exactly say it’s “immersive” theming, with the exception of the one bit of queue for FOTWW. Everything else is just themed. The rides themselves are great, and well done to MW for bringing some fun & variety to the GC ride lineup. But to harp on about the millions spent, the immersive theming and all that just set the bar too high, and they couldn’t reach it in the end. Also, someone needs to have their execs line up for a ride in 34c+ sunshine for an hour +. They NEED fans, shade and aircon for the inside bits. -

Because normally every ride eligible to be open (I.e not under maintenance or tech issue on the day) is usually open for every night event… I was too looking forward to riding them at night today. Guess there’s always next year 😒 -
We have an opening date… To our valued passholders, We’re thrilled to announce that ALL attractions in Rivertown will officially open this Monday, 23 December!

Keen to see if/how that changes when they run different courses. I know Greg has mentioned previously you could possibly have a new ride experience each time… but surely there’s a limit to the combinations. I wonder what it is

Doesn’t necessarily mean they are never intending on running more than one. It’s a soft opening, they’re not going to have 2 trains running

God damn those models are schmick! I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again… GC Theme Parks are really upping the ante! Both deserve huge props for the standard they’re setting. Let’s hope they maintain it and continue to develop to this standard moving forward -

Could we see a Steven Bradbury moment?? (Hopefully without MW stumbling) …I should’ve read all the updates before I replied. Incredible to see them open to guests! Anyone got photos on the cars on the track instead of the photo op?

Tiger Island Redevelopment - STAGE 1
Michelangelo replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
From what I’ve read across multiple outlets there was no release. They instead provided a statement to media, assumedly in response to Courier Mail’s inquiries: “In November 2022, Dreamworld shared its intention to transition Tiger Island to an environment in which tigers and handlers do not interact directly,” it said in a statement. “Since this time, Dreamworld has invested significantly in upgrading its tiger habitats and pfacilities to enable this transition. Construction of the alterations required is near complete. “The safety of team members, guests and animals are Dreamworld’s highest priority.” It continued: “As a result, Dreamworld has now transitioned its tiger program to a non-handled operation. Heres my assumed timeline of events They announce the transition in 2022 They get cracking on construction (behind the scenes they start transitioning) There was the incident They said after the incident they’d conduct a full review … **crickets**/courier mail’s clicks were dropping Courier Mail start contacting the park saying, hey where’s the review? We haven’t shat on a Gold Coast theme park for a few months now… So, DW release a statement saying they have transitioned to non-contact and their new Tiger island isn’t complete yet. Courier Mail twist the statement to suit their click bait. -

I have a gut feeling it might be a certain someone who used to run Tiger Island, or even Mr Mucci -

Cmon courier mail… bullshit reporting again. spinning the narrative. Greg announced they were putting an end to human and tiger contact back when he announced jungle rush in 2022. This wasn’t a move made after a handler was attacked. -
What type of Rollercoaster would you find in the Amazon Jungle? it’s called a theme park bro… talk about being obtuse 🙄 To help you with your creativity, here’s some examples of what I was thinking…

Wooden fence is just an example. I’m sure Pico could come up with something amazing that looks like it’s been sitting in the Amazon jungle for 20 years, yet still meet all the regulations They’ll also know how to ensure it doesn’t obscure views
