The New Atlantis - Construction Updates
rappa replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Its very subjective. Before its major retracting (years ago now) people were slamming Ghostrider as a rough POS. I thought it was properly mental in a good way. The retracking made it more palatable for many whilst still having some ‘jesus christ!’ value left in it. I recon this might end up being my favourite Gold Coast coaster. But again that’s very subjective (fyi my fav at present is Superman). -

Im not into a back reconstruction (hello Bush Beast) but personally a bit less than silky smooth makes a wooden coaster even more exciting for me. The RMC stuff is amazing, and its super smooth, but you don’t feel like you might die, which I enjoy. I have a feeling we might just actually have a sneaky kick ass surprise of a real winner coaster here that is miles from the mild family attraction we were/are expecting. Ive heard some rumors that some international industry peeps expect this to get real attention. -
The New Atlantis - Construction Updates

FWIW I wasnt saying someone’s opinion of wanting the concept art and not what’s delivered is invalid. I was merely saying you have to go all in. So you can’t say I want the picture and am unhappy they didn’t build exactly that. But then also want the themed ride experience and kiss ass coaster layout, because the concept art shows un unthemed coaster with a lackluster layout. Thats all. -

So maybe everyone could calm down for 2 seconds. This is all subjective. And I’ll spell out what Joz was trying to say. The concept art looks pretty. But actually look at the coaster. Look at the station. Both are shit! We may not get a joke of waterfall however it looks like the station will be a fully immersive themed experience. And the coaster layout is kick ass (no way is this a family coaster). So would you sooner have nice gardens, a waterfall and a completely un-themed dull coaster? Or modest landscaping and a kick ass coaster with themed station? That’s the question. And nobody called anyone here a moron FYI so we can leave the “Im so offended” style nonsense at the door. -

Melbourne Show Rebel Coaster Incident
rappa replied to Dean Barnett's topic in Theme Park Discussion
There is a video of the incident. Its horrible and clear this is not an operator fault. And even a fence you can climb if it’s head height like this then stuff that, its not negligent. Something isnt right about this, it almost looked intentional to be honest. Sad for everyone involved. -

I mean they were stupid. But they might actually die so maybe we could just cool it a tad. -
Sea World's Leviathan + Trident Testing

There’s a lot more to getting open than just the rides. Likely a lot of general construction (ie boring) stuff still happening. Then all the joys of building certification and government fun no doubt. -

I completely agree and I hope my prediction doesn’t come true. -
Shock as Dreamworld loses man behind Tiger Island attraction
rappa replied to PoolGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Not understanding (or interested in) animals doesn’t automatically equate to shambles… But it’s no industry secret that the current CEO has no interest in animal based attractions, never really has. So this departure doesn’t really surprise me. I’d say the days of Tiger Island are numbered and wouldn’t be surprised if this time next year Dreamworld’s tigers are sharing a home with Bindi and Bob. -

The cranes are back out and in Action tonight -
Correct. There will always be the odd occasion when something doesn’t fire, but a well designed system allows for that so you don’t get something awful. Scooby Next Gen just wasn’t that. But hopefully those days are behind us and the new attractions being built are much better.
-
Another typical case of VRTP being below Disney standard! That boat isn’t even sinking 😂 It depends. ‘Not working’ could just mean the scene didnt trigger for whatever reason for their car. The problem with Scooby is that video was done so poorly by someone who clearly has little understanding of how an attraction operates. There is no ‘holding state’ so if it doesn’t trigger you just get black. Same as the final drop scene which just runs out of video whilst you sit there.

Yeah have to agree situation is far from ideal right now

Pretty sure I said the screens should be working. 99% of the time someone posts actual factual info here it’s going to come from a source that can’t be disclosed, that’s the nature of real inside information. Gatekeeping would be posting “I know something and won’t tell you” which is a far cry from posting actual insights that may be of interest to people, to the extent they can be shared. There are several members on these board who are actively working in/with the parks or have close contacts with people that are. Often they will try to share whatever information they can get away with to contribute to the discussion and for the interest of other members who may actually be interested in reading. Your options are to have information without always the full path back to the source, or to have nothing. I know which I’d prefer. I don’t however have some agenda of wanting to post pure speculation as fact for the purpose of making myself feel good, if I did, perhaps I’d sooner no real info is shared. Whenever I make a guess about something or speculate, I always make a point of stating that I’m doing so. Therefore it stands to reason that if I’m saying something is fact, it probably is I can’t/won’t speak for others, but that’s my story. Sorry if it upsets you to be corrected when your speculation is inaccurate. Glad to hear you are busy, the last few years have not been good to many AV Experts out there.
-
No Citation is not needed, that is what they are. You are the one that came and stated as fact something that was incorrect based on pure assumption. I am merely correcting you. Ive done my time here and don’t need to provide justification for any info or facts I provide. People can choose to accept them or not, but to not do so would be foolish.
-
Woohoo, just what this forum needs. Another theme park AV expert.
-
Easy to operate once installed, like most display wall type product. But expensive and hard to replace if damaged, so maybe that is what is currently the case? I personally hate those screens and would be happy to see them vanish.

DC Rivals HyperCoaster train stuck mid-course
rappa replied to PoolGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
God can you stop with your rubbish. This is like your previous post saying they pull the train apart all the time so just take it off. When in actual fact you have no idea how they usually take the train apart. Just quit the armchair expert routine on things you actually don’t know about. -
For someone who claims to work in the industry you think you would know they are far from off the shelf TVs. They are actually super expensive special panels with external electronics/processors to make them thin and lightweight enough for the ride. Im not saying they shouldn’t be working. But I can’t stand posts of ‘Im an expert so bla bla bla’ when the person is actually completely wrong.

DC Rivals HyperCoaster train stuck mid-course
rappa replied to PoolGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
We have to remember that each train is worth millions of dollars. So you don’t just start pulling apart such a thing without procedure and planning. -
So whats with the TOW still there and no painting? Is this the workers that need to come back referred to above?
