I find a few things weird. Firsy they do a massive re-theme with carthay circle and the like only to then make it Superheroes... I can only assume superheroes will take over some of the unused stages and the area around Tower/guardians. How they make the Hyperion with Frozen fit I have no idea. Its a shame Tower wasn't closer to Carthay and they could have kept that whole area old world Hollywood. As for Pixar Pier $10 says mostly the area they are touching is the vacant space where the tower rides used to be. And I'd be ok with that. I do worry though that the great path DCA was on with placemaking is being ruined with many of these changes including Guardians.

Probably makes sense to dry dock the barges during the day for maintenance and ongoing life. So you could tow them up the back and then roll out of the water.

I think that pieces indicates the extreme nature of the first hill.

Not really so, you can build such a display to be barge based installation that is self contained and towed into position for show which would still leave your lake free for daytime deep water shows.

To be fair seems a perfect fit now. Totally custom made. Its not like they just hacked a piece out. You wouldn't want it snug and touching because there is going to be movement/flex in that whole structure when running.

I did 80 laps on eXcelerator YEARS ago and when I was younger and stupider lol Obviously not back to back but the park was super quiet and I did sessions of about 20 laps or so. Mess riding with crazy Richard 'mantis man' who sits on that thing all day everyday. Most reridable coaster I know.
