Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017
Whatever the case may be, even if it was open it certainly wasn't officially open. Regardless, would be great to see Wipeout open again, it's a personal favourite of mine. @Jordan M. you should check your VPN, when I checked the website this morning it worked perfectly.

Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017
Wrong. https://www.dreamworld.com.au/park-info/whats-open Just FYI, prior to posting a reply to @Aimsley81 I checked that very page so what I wrote was iron clad and factually correct, which next time I suggest you do the same. Side note: Dreamworld's CMS is quite sophisticated and does tailor customer experience depending on what you click. However, that page is easily found still under "Park info" in the main header menu.

Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017
No need to take what I said personally, it wasn't an attack on you. I, like many others, who regularly have to sift through a torrential sea of "fake news" found online, generally hold a healthy level of skepticism when things don't add up, don't have proof or don't have citations. Your post just so happens to tick all three boxes, just FYI. Always happy to be proven wrong, of course. I'd imagine re-opening the last of their thrill rides would be a big deal, and communicating that all of their rides have now met safety standards would be at the top of their list in terms of communicating a sense of moving forward to guests. Again, historically, the second a ride re-opened, even if it was part way through the day, they didn't hesitate to communicate, and I'd imagine this situation would be no different, regardless of annual maintenance.

Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017
If you're there, would you mind terribly sharing some shots of the ride running with today's newspaper in your hand? I'm joking of course, however the park hasn't shared anything on social nor does their website reflect the re-opening, and every single major attraction re-opening has been a big deal for them, which makes what you're saying very doubtful. Adding to this, checking Dreamworld's & Wipeout's geotags/analytics on social shows a whole lot of nothing, when historically guests have clamoured to be the first to share & ride re-opened rides.

DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion
Just noticed Gazza's post just then. Totally spot on.

DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion
You'll find something like that won't happen because set designers use totally different materials compared to say a permanent install i.e. polystyrene over fibreglass.

Can't wait. Looking forward to seeing a name, position and reason why the left a long with what they saw. Worst case scenario, they're an idiot with a grudge to bare against an old employee. Best case scenario, they may actually highlight a flaw with animal care that we're all not aware, Sea World fixes it, the animals get better care then they did before and it's one less thing for these folks to whinge about.

VRL - First Half Results (2017) Discussion
Village Roadshow has posted results for 1H17 this morning, with the presentation to happen later this afternoon. For those interested, the slides from the ASX are posted here. So far my favourite bits are: (No one can tell it's a watermark if we flip the image ) And of course the interesting font use for the new campaign: (EDIT: Oh hey 2000th post, go team.)

Aussie World's new announcement
Cheers for sharing, it looks like they're adding a really nice well rounded suite of rides to maybe even entice some of the local uni audience out. All said and done, after this is all added in, I can't help but think what next? With a park full of flats, surely making a move like Adventure World and investing in something major (like Abyss) would have to be on the cards?

Probably, went on it Monday and it seemed to work fine?

Tiger Island - Valentines Day 2017
Strange all the photos they uploaded from Facebook (at least the ones of the venue) were all at some weird, small resolution. Looked like a really lovely night. Touching on what @AlexB said, having had the odd beer or two at the top of the arena overlooking Tiger Island, I can pretty safely say as far as views go it's as good as the bottom level view in its own way. In short, you have an unrestricted view of the entire island vs. a close-up chunk of a specific bit.

People are dumb. I was in the middle of writing this huge "worry about credibility in journalism in the fake news age" opinion piece, then hit command+a and just started again to keep it simple. There's no more prestigious journalistic institutions and no more encyclopaedias on CD's or in books that hold all the facts and information to the world. Freedom of and to information in the digital age has opened up an equalised platform both correct and incorrect information, and the fact that society still can't pick the good from the bad scares the shit out of me, because it's so easy today to put your fingers in your ears and pretend that climate change isn't real, Trump is a cool dude or in this case, that Sea World harms animals. @joz said it best in this thread & I blasted @POP in another thread about Tiger Island not too long ago. Point is, watching one documentary on how a park overseas treats a specific animal that's related to a park here in name only and thus think everyone's evil, well, you're an idiot. Open your mind. Check the facts from both sides. Do some research. Check the citations and see where the general or scientific consensus lies.

Apparently it was good enough that the GCB fell for it.

Is Tower of Terror a roller coaster?
2014 @Slick is full of good cliches. Seriously though, a roller-coaster needs to coast, needs to do it most of the time, and needs to look like a coaster. Wild West Falls is a flume the majority of the time, so you know, it's a flume. Honestly, I don't think there's a black & white rule, folks just need common sense and less of a necessity to credit whore.

Dreamworld's Corroboree Stage 2
Why not both? In any case, I hope it gets the same love Tiger Island got. That'd make me really, really happy. Dreamworld's biggest advantage is being one-stop destination for out of towners, waterpark, rides, koalas, kangaroos, local culture, pretty tough to beat in terms of a one day destination.

Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
The only thing that's worse than having an accident after a major incident is having an accident that could've easily been avoided. Just a guess, but it quietly yells "back off @Andrewh".

Dreamworld reopening - the summer season
Just touching on Vintage Car talk, I hope the park mentality isn't "let's move one our most popular and classic family attractions to the furthest point in the park" followed closely by "why is this ride not doing good numbers anymore? Must be because people don't like old rides like this and thus we should close it."
