  1. Couple of other things that got missed. - Sheep shearing show at DW - Skull rock 3D I don't think it's coaster overload. We only get 1 every 4-5 years or so, and that is literally how it has always been. Looking back at that list of additions, only 2 of them in the past two years have been coasters, so they are in the minority... And there hasn't even been any other "thrill" rides in that mix.... We'd have to go back to 2006, with Batwing for that. Cedar Point, with 17 coasters, or SF Magic Mountain, also with 17, is coaster overload.
  2. And to be fair, cars with onboard audio and LEDs and like are a bit of a taste of Disney/Universal anyway. It's not as if either of these things will feature in the marketing campaign, so they clearly are about improving the ride experience for guests. Note too, from the video, it was actually MW that approached S&S for things such as the new train design, not just taking an off the shelf thing. When guests board in the station, they'll be more noticeable, because it will presumably be undercover/indoors at that point, so reduced light levels. Also worth noting that on Rip Ride Rockit you could see the LEDs on the train in the daylight.
  3. Haters gonna hate. Everyone loves a behind the scenes effect tour, and this as a cool behind the scenes tour....Better? Even if 70% of the audience loves a coaster, then it's still worthwhile.
  4. What was the point of that? Unofficial videos are never as good as the originals.
  5. Hmm, makes you wonder if that is the solution to SWs land issues...Just reclaim more!
  6. But do you have a "background in physics"?
  7. Personally, I think many of the iPhone apps produced by companies are absolute gimmicks, unless they are actually doing something with the functions of the phone. There is nothing described in the functions of the Jamberoo app that couldn't be achieved through a mobile version of the website. The advantage with that is that any brand of phone would be accessing the same information and functionality just as easily, and doesn't require the user to go to the effort of downloading and app, and having it sitting there for a one off/occasional visit. Things like the Woolworths app, which actually do stuff like scan barcodes using the camera, are good. But apps that basically replicate website, but with wanky apple style icon navigation, are shit. And in the poll, who the fuck voted for Yes, I'll download it but won't use it .?
  8. Can I see a worked example?
  9. I wonder why it would be a heat issue? There's one of these in Madrid!
  10. What attractions do you recommend?
  11. Woah, ninemsn must not update their slideshows that often. The event it refers to DID happen prior to this MW incident... It is the soldier killed at Darien Lake that was mentioned in this topic.... The very reason for the double amputee rule change.
  12. WA has adventure world, which would be compromised.
  13. I'm not sure If I'd care for Disney too much. My most recent trip taught me that they actually have a large number of attractions that simply aren't fun or entertaining. Or maybe it was just EPCOT. Oooh, and all this talk of Universal reminds me that Transformers opens in less than a month. I plan on heading over in February, so I'm making a real effort to abstain from watching any POVs before I visit.
  14. Lol u mad bro? The way I see it, Australia as a country gets only 6 Mil tourists per year. Our theme parks get say 1-1.3 Mil Each. Internationals going to our theme parks then constitute a fraction of that. The biggest single visitor international group is of course, the Kiwis, and I don't see them as a market particularly swayed by a worlds first claim (And on the flipside, steepest in the Southern hemisphere applies to them too). They would be visiting our theme parks anyway, much for the same reasons as people from interstate in Aus do it ,or the reasons why Brits overrun Orlando, because they're there and its known. So that leaves people from Europe, the Americas and Asia. No one from there is really going to fly long haul just for the steepest drop.
  15. Exactly, I mean a new float in the 20th Birthday parade, new soundtrack, friggen SLIDE DANCERS, but it's still considered the same old?
  16. The park hasn't been sucessful to begin with. Lol. I wouldn't consider the UAE just any desert county.... It's a global hotspot, well it was until the global financial crisis.
  17. I agree with what Ian said. Couple of points. -What's the point of going after international publicity if it doesn't actually translate into visits? Takabisha was on the news, but I bet nobody now, except enthusiasts could name the park it is located in, or even the name of the ride itself, other than "that coaster in Japan". How many people have actually since gone and planned a trip to Fuji Queue as a result? -The steepest drop record has been broken a few times now, with parks spiting each other by 1 degree basically every time. Every time S&S built an El Loco, they added an extra degree. Where was the international media coverage for the 5 or so times it has happened already? Either of you heard of Vild Svinet for instance? (No cheating!) Following on from this, I reckon the only reason Takashiba made the news is because its one of "Those crazy Japanese" type stories. -Making the ride 1 degree steeper wont make the ride better now. It's a blatantly foamy suggestion, just like the people who were saying GD should be made taller to "win back" the record from SFMM at the time that Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom was announced.
  18. ^Jet rescue is good though.
  19. If the track and supports were already being welded at the time of Takabishas announcement, then it would have been too late.
  20. Back when Apocalypse at SF Magic Mountain was Branded terminator and still had speakers, there was some music, but mostly the sounds of "The terminators" in hot pursuit, with sounds of machine guns, "They're coming", and of course the famous catch cry from the ride "Take the tunnel!" The Bizzaro coasters also had some "interesting" sounds onboard.
  21. Woah woah hang on. So its fake rock and looks kinda cool, and it's considered SF theming? Who cares if the signage is 'normally' the last thing to be done. Normally the gift shop is the last thing to be done too, and we got that several months ahead of opening! You might be reading into things too much, it could just be that doing the theming around the entrance now instead of later makes sense, because its on the other side of the creek, so work can go on independent of the main coaster. This is for Gogoboy too, but spot the electrical conduit in the rockwork and the shape of the untextured reddish coloured bit. I'm guessing that the ride name will go there, and it will be illuminated. There's your 3D signage. Win
  22. How many rides have been closed in total?
