Amusing Gold Coast Bulletin article
It's also interesting how the article contradicts itself: Regardless, I'll have to get my yearly dose of dodginess and have a ride of these coasters come August. Edit: I just found another funny thing on the GC Bulletin site, the 'artists impression' of how these new rides will look....we've got Viper at SFMM in there.

Universal Studios Singapore
It's on Sentosa island (Hence the larger development being named Resorts World at Sentosa) http://www.sentosa.com.sg/useful_info/getting_to.html From what I have seen the monorail is a good place to get photos Edit: I was doing some browsing, and another (really good a might add) construction update has turned up: http://www.thethemeparkguy.com/park/univer...dios-singapore/ You can see a Lost World (Jurrassic Park) Rapids ride, the Revenge of the Mummy coaster, Waterworld Show and slightly more of the Battlestar coasters.

Major Jamberoo expansion plans
The official page on it is here: http://www.jamberoo.net/the_future.php The Behemoth Bowl will be the enclosed one, so hopefully they will do lighting and sound inside. The other thing is that the Tornado appears to have a frill neck lizard climbing around the outside, seems like they got the idea from the dragon on the Tornado at Siam Park. The 'maglev' (Wish they'd stop calling it that) water coaster seems to have a pretty unique layout...It seems to have a section where you go through or over a restaurant. The notable absences I can see in these plans from earlier ones is the complex with raft slides and two cannon bowls, and the tantrum alley. Hopefully they'll work their way in at some point, but I guess if its going to take them 10 years for 6 rides it will be a long time coming. Though I can't see why they are spending all that money on a 2nd lazy river when they already have one...Granted they are saying you will be able to use it for transport, but if say WnW were to go and build a second lazy river for this purpose then I'd also see that as a waste of money and not something that will attract any new guests.

'Shot and Drop tower' for Adventure World
The funny thing is, the pronunciation is 'coburn'.

Google too hard? Anyway, the move it 24 has dimensions of 15.3 x 13.4 http://www.kmg.nl/kmg/factory/moveit24_en.html Ummm, didn't you read my last post? The other 3 rides are discontinued models though, as they aren't listed on the manufacturer websites, so the dimensions will have to be found some other way.

'Shot and Drop tower' for Adventure World
I was bored, so I decided to do my usual thing and check out the council websites for attraction development applications, but for something different, I decided to check out if there was a development application tracking system for Cockburn city council, the one where Adventure World is located....Turns out there is. Better still, on it I discovered Adventure World have gotten approval 'Shot and drop tower' just 9 days ago. At this stage, it's still very vauge of course, the only manufacturer I know of that markets a ride under that name is Huss, though of course this specific style of ride is made by many manufacturers.

First ride on Batwing Spaceshot
In the vid at 0:40 you can hear a second, much quieter thud, and I think it would just be the valves closing again.

GOING TO WEST COAST OF USA
Oh, I didn't realise they had unlimited version of the express pass (Wasn't on offer when I visited). IOA and USF with no lines whatsoever! You're definitely in for a pretty awesome day then looked up the price for the pass out of curiosity, eeek! Though I guess it is worthwhile in the scheme of things given how much these trips cost. Though I gotta say, If you've spent that much....well you can see the movie any old day The Mummy in Orlando is better than the one in Hollywood, and does completely different stuff, so I'd imagine you'd like it even more. I guess one last tip I can offer, only a simple one, but go to the websites of the parks and check out the hours, gives you an idea of how much time you have to play with. http://www.universalorlando.com/hours-info...park_hours.html http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/calendars Quick question, but are you staying on Disney property? They have this thing called extra magic hours, where Disney resort/hotel guests get exclusive access to the parks outside of normal operating hours (And naturally it is quieter without normal guests around) By all means, do stuff like Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain etc, but yeah, no need to ride "its a small world", or see the same 3d shows again. Be prepared to be exhausted by the end of it all, and be sure to post up on here how it all went.

GOING TO WEST COAST OF USA
Haha, I can guarantee you now that you'd be too busy and having fun at both parks to even remember to go out and spend time seeing the movie. If you have paid over $100 for the park ticket, then why waste 3 hours worth of it? Citywalk is open well into the night, so I'd recommend seeing Transformers after the parks have closed. All though Hulk and Dueling Dragons are big rides, the place as a whole isn't that stomach churining, and you'd be fine to go at it all day. At the Universal parks, turn up to I.O.A. before opening time, and when the gates open rush to rides like Hulk, Dueling Dragons and Spiderman and get a ride in when they are quiet. That way you don't 'waste' an express token when you don't need to (At Universal Florida, you can only skip the line once per ride) and when the rides are busier, you can come back and use the express pass to get a reride...Oh, and absolutely don't forget to ride Spiderman. With that extra half day, I'd play it by ear. 3 days will be a terrible rush for the 4 Disney parks, so you may well want to use up that half day for more time at Disney. Id recommend www.allears.net which I found invaluable for figuring out how to tackle Disney. Find out which rides have fastpass , and try and use them as much as you can (They tend to run out early)...Rock n Roller Coaster, Test Track, Expedition Everest have single rider, so if you don't mind riding separate to whoever you are with you can skip a long queue. Admittedly, I did Disney in 3 days, but I had the advantage that I had been to Disneyland in LA, so at the Magic Kindgom I just did a 'highlights' package the equivalents of my favourite rides from the LA park. The other slightly bad point is that I only spent 2-3 hours at Animal Kingdom. This was enough time to see all the major attractions (Though i didn't spend much time looking at the Animals, other than on the actual safari) and again, I did this by turning at opening time, and hurrying to the major rides before they got busy. However, if you wind up not needing the extra time, then I think Blizzard Beach is the hot pick for the half day.....Or just go to Sea World for Kraken and Manta!

First ride on Batwing Spaceshot
Yeah, I think Zane's vid definitely confirms it , though is it is a counterweight, or more of a plunger/plug type thing that is inside the tubes? What Richo said has been my line all along, it doesn't look crap or anything...its all quite tidy, but its not a themed experience.

Ideas for Luna Park Sydney
OK, time to make this topic a bit more fun, and perhaps end the debates of “will this ride fit here?”....and people making silly suggestions for things that won't fit Attatched are two PDFs, and each has a 5mm grid drawn over the park, and it is at a scale of 1:1000, this means. - Each grid square is 5x5m in real life - 1cm = 10m - 1mm =1m Steps: -Print off both PDFs on A4 -On one of the sheets, cut along the dotted line -Line up the cut edge with the dotted line on the other, and you will have the whole park. -Glue or tape together. -Now you can design your ideas for Luna Park. -Go to the ride manufacturer websites, and get the dimensions of the rides you want. -Use the grid as a guide to how much space it would take up, for example if you wanted to put in that Maurer Sohne XC2000 Spinning Coaster, you would know it would be about 4 squares wide, and a tad under 9 squares long. (Or simply 20.5mm by 43.3 mm) -Have Fun! What often works well is to get a piece of tracing paper and put it on top, and then doodle away. lpsleft1to1000.pdf lpsright1to1000.pdf -I've also attached a jpg, so you could draw over it in MS Paint or whatever if you wanted, the grid squares still represent 5m, but they won't be 5mm long if you were to print it since this image is a different size.

Scooby Doo Lately
From what I understand that has always worked?...no matter what state the ride has been in any of the times I have ridden, the turntable laser cone has been one thing that is consistently there.

Ideas for Luna Park Sydney
Just a quick point, but you could always build stuff on the roof. At the Adelaide show, the old wild mouse was built on the roof of the ghost train. If you were doing a ghost train, It could be re imagined to be more update...Steer away from having those UV painted back drops, and have a few actual impressive illusions. You could go one step further and introduce the whole interactive shooting element too.

China builds first sex theme park
I guess what I meant is that it's not out on the street where kids and people who don't want can see it, you'd actually have to go in. Anyway, the point about this not qualifying is true...anyone remember that gerbil train that was on Ozcoaster years ago? That counts as being more theme parky to me I guess it is a premature adjudication on the part of authorities.

What would you do if 'you' owned or managed DW?
^Yeah, the coolest part was probably watching all the brakes wheels and chains doing their thing below you. But on the coaster itself I tended to look straight ahead anyway...I made an effort at a couple of points to watch the track whizz by, and it was about as interesting as watching lane markers whizz by out of a car window. Floorless dive machines are another story though, the far outside seats really do give that 'flying armchair' effect.

The park was adults only though wasn't it, how is that public?

What would you do if 'you' owned or managed DW?
^It's crazy, Eejanaika cost $49 Million AUD, and reportedly is a horribly rough and uncomfortable ride anyway. If you wanted to go for the whole seat flipping thing, Intamin make both the ZacSpin and the Ball Coaster at a fraction of the cost. In some ways, getting a floorless could be a good way of making it look different to Cyclone, and perhaps a gimmick they could advertise. Experience wise, I found little difference between the floorless and the normal sit down, but they 'look' really cool, which is the important thing in terms of getting people to visit.

Yeah mate, I don't need it pointed out that these rides are less intense than roller coasters and thrill rides. The point is about providing balance and something for everyone....I love big rides as much as anybody on here, but at the same I know that not everyone is a thrill seeker, and you need to find other ways to make the ride good that don't rely on raw force and speed. I do have a personal appreciation for rides told with a nice story and theming (Bermuda Triangle at Sea World would be a good example, the ride only has two fairly small drops, but it still is a pretty cool ride, and one of the parks most popular) I guess my point is that it doesn't have to have strong Gs or whatever to be good, it's just gotta be fun. That flume that was at the park over the summer is a good example, a couple of people on here bitched that it wasn't a thrill ride, but it turned out to be popular with the public, and flumes are fun anyway. Yeah, but that doesn't fix LPSs does it?

Ideas for Luna Park Sydney
Because once upon a time, it wasn't just flat rides, it did actually have stuff like the river caves, ghost train, big dipper (old and new incarnations) To me, a proper tracked attraction is worth 2 or 3 flat rides, and if you have those then the park feels a lot more rounded. Also, these attractions were a lot more imaginative, since things like ghost trains and river caves can tell a story. Why cant we have them back? I have never seen it proclaimed anywhere that it is "supposed" to be a carnival themed park...It only became that in more recent times when the owners looked for the quick and cheap option (plopping in tranportable rides) rather than building proper stuff befitting of its position on the harbour, and its position in the Sydney psyche. It depends how much effort you put in, even Disney has Zamperla rides (Eg Alladins carpets) Even have a look at the WB kids area at Movie World, that place is pretty much all Zamperla stuff, but none of it looks temporary because they took the time and effort. eg http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coas...eety_Cages.html http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coas...ywood_Cars.html http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coas...m_Railroad.html Disko Coasters only come in a park model.

I doubt you could put a gyro drop on a roof, since they weight too much, so I guess it could go anywhere with a diameter of 11-15m.

Took me about 5 seconds on Google Earth to spot the sewage ponds a kilometer or so from the park Another good quote.

Anyone else been paying attention to our latest ad banner: http://www.fairypark.com/attractions.php Joz, is this one of those dodgy little parks you love? Re the youtube video, I think that there is the very definition of interpretative dance.
