  1. I vote it should just stay red and orange, because they have gone to the effort of assigning it a theme (some sort of beast) so any other colour scheme would look bizzare (red claw feet with blue and yellow legs ) and it wouldn't really point to anything. If it is blue and yellow, is it supposed to reflect the ride being made of sand and water? How did we get talking about the claw being painted, I thought this was about DWs latest addition...
  2. That was me. All I had said was that the 'metallic' nature of the terminator theme could have been better achieved had they gone for a steel support structure. At the time I made that post the coaster had been official for two weeks, so the layout, and the fact it would be fully wood was well known, hence me posting:
  3. Hasn't that been known since day one?
  4. ^It was weird, I remember seeing ads for Gardasil (Yup, the vaccine that is given for free to Australian girls is advertised on TV in the US ) and they were indeed running through all the side effects...Must be an advertising law over there. Notice how here you aren't even allowed to name any prescription drugs in ads on tv here, hence that generic message "Talk to your doctor". Just looking at that pic of Waterworld reminds me of how bare and industrial it was. If you check out this pic of Pipeline plunge you can see how all the water elements are modular and attach to the columns, it would be nice if they bought a bunch of these and turned the platform into a proper water play structure, and at the same time dressed it up a bit with some theming on the columns, and on the roofs, just so it is a bit more fun and inviting.
  5. Can I say that debates between car enthusiasts are funnier to watch than those between coaster enthusiasts.
  6. Yeah, but your average Hawaiian wouldn't have a problem with it would they?
  7. But that's the thing though, it seems as if Dreamworld are only interested in installing these paper thin, low cost/temporary attractions, instead of the big ticket rides people really like. Its interesting how many rides, like TOT, Thunder River, GD and so on are the backbone of the park, and made it what it is today, and remain consistently popular with the public despite not having these brand/corporate tie ins, because they are good rides. Yet now days it seems to be the opposite; a whole bunch of smaller (often extra cost) attractions that don't have the same appeal, with a brand tie in slapped on that doesn't actually add to the ride. Interestingly, Whitewater world does have a focus on high quality rides, and the trend looks to continue with what is planned for phase 3....I just wish they would take this approach with DW, instead of cheaping out.
  8. I thought I'd better post this, but Ally, don't be discouraged or offended. Everyone does appreciate it when we can get scoops on upcoming attractions, and when people from park management participate on the forums. But keep in mind that people do have deeply held opinions on the sorts of rides they like, and the direction they would like to see DW head in, and aren't afraid to let these be known. Check out the link Bush Beast Forever posted...basically they hook the driving controls of a car up to a Playstation, and there is a projector in front of the car, and the car has some hydraulics underneath, and vibrators in the seat that jiggle the car around a bit to simulate driving.
  9. Anywhere you could park 4 cars really (since they are doing 4 cars with the DW version). This is basically what these look like. PS, just noticed that TPP got a link in the blogroll, What, no love for Parkz?
  10. Yeah guys, just using some of the admin tools shows this is indeed legit. As for my thoughts, well, I hate to be negative, but this attraction sounds pretty average to me. At the end of the day, it's just a driving simulator, something I have seen multiple times before (quite often they are a touring attraction) and not really something that would get me down to the park, given the fact I prefer to spend my time on proper rides/roller coasters, plus the fact you'd have to pay extra anyway. I'm sure the rev heads would get something out of it (and those who are into DWs strategy of corporate tie ins) but I'm personally holding out for the next big ride. Edit: The V8 supercars page says that the price will be $10 to drive, and $5 to be a passenger. JJ made a post that was actually funny. What is the world coming to?
  11. No, the point is that the members username was the same as a WVTP employee (first name and last name) and as such what he was posting could be taken as the truth, when in reality it was made up.
  12. Did you happen to get photos of the Tornado? That's the only ride missing in the Hawaiian Waters gallery: http://www.parkz.com.au/parks/US/Kapolei/H...Adventure_Park/
  13. But I still don't get what you are trying to do with that post.
  14. So....Hollywood Stuntdriver is still on schedule then? The cars aren't falling apart?
  15. But that's what I mean, there is no reason you couldn't have gone back later once the vomit had been cleaned up. In not going back, you missed one of the best rides in the park. But the spew in the Claw queue wasn't their fault at all, so how was it the last straw? Thing is, two major rides breaking down in succession is a very rare event (you can bet the maintenance staff were pulling their hair out), and not something they would have done deliberately to piss you off. I mean, by the sounds of it you were having a good day until that point (apart from motocoaster, but everyone knows that sucks) but you let a couple of setbacks spoil your day. I mean, with Wipeout you couldn't have wasted more than about 10 minutes on that. Im also unsure as to how screaming kids make Dreamworld a rip off. When I was at Knotts Berry Farm the place was packed out with school groups, which meant long waits for everything, which limited what I could get on, but there was still heaps to do. Dunno, If i were in your position i would have stuck it out till closing time and focused on getting done what I wanted to get done. If the day didn't pick by the end, then I'd chalk it up as a loss and not bother returning. If it did pick up, well then it means I got to ride some fun rides, and would have some happy memories.
  16. Yeah, I can't help but thing you weren't particularly perseverent. I mean leaving the Claw queue because someone spewed strikes me as odd (I would have taken a few steps back, or told a staff member it needed cleaning up) and it didn't seem to me as if you sought to get full value out of your ticket. Breakdowns can be unavoidable, and it often comes down to luck. Queues are an inevitable part (however unenjoyable) of the experience, so just need to bite the bullet for the payoff at the end. How long were the queues anyway (Or what was the wait time given?) I mean, you've gotta queue for some stuff, and you should have waited for stuff to be fixed, and then tried again. I'm guessing you might have had a better day if you went on the big 6 stuff first in the quieter morning period instead of wasting time on stuff like BB, Wildlife, Tiger Island, which can be done any time without queueing.
  17. But demand for ponchos is fairly inelastic, so you can increase prices a fair bit and demand wont drop much at all. My view on these sorts of measures is that rooting out obvious inefficiencies is fine, but when you start impacting upon the guest experience then you are going the wrong way about increasing profits. A better method IMO is just to try and make the park more popular.
  18. I guess, I mean if it is $150 a ticket then most of your money is going on the bands, and not on the rides, hence you want that aspect to be as good as possible. Nobody spends $150 just so they can go on DWs rides for new years.
  19. There's a thing down the bottom that says: "But wait, there's more... This page shows the newest photos. For more Jet Rescue Photos, see page 11. " Click on that to see the rest of the photos. Its no different to the way a forum thread works, where linking takes you to the latest posts. But you still have to look at previous pages. I mean say if you open a thread, and there are only 2 posts on the last page, it doesn't mean that there have only been two new posts in that thread since your last visit, it just means that the thread has spilled onto a new page...there could still be unread stuff on previous pages. Also, look at the dates on the photos, they are November 8th, so all photos with that date are part of the update.
  20. I remember being told about that tornado back at the Kamikaze launch, they also do dive in movies too, so I guess this is what they mean about applying the WnW formula (Also check out the style of the advertising: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=jLCXcXoBnPE ....same style as WnW, even with some recycled footage. How long till we see the park re branded as WnW? When I was there I didn't bother with the 3 person big Kahuna ones, but the Waianae Coaster ones I did because they would let you sit in the back of a 2 person one, and just go down in that, or have they changed the rules since then? But let me get this straight, is the Tornado right up on the upper part of the park at the top of the cliff? Anyhow, your thoughts on the place echo my own, it feels like a smaller WnW, but the park has the potential now to go and put in a lot of the newer slide types without competitive difficulty. EDIT: Yeah, it is at the top of the park.....I found a video report about it here, according to the reporter the park was bought out by "Village Roadhouse", the park has had extra landscaping, the kids area got a tipping bucket, and the dive in movie screen is an inflatable one. Did you happen to get any photos? I'd be interested to see what WVTP have done in the 11 or so months since I visited.
  21. OK, at the top of the page there are 3 bars of links (the main site one with home, articles etc...... then the one with Community Guidlines, Calendar etc...... but the 3rd light blue coloured one is the one you are interested in. 5th link from the right is a "My Controls" link, click that. On that page in the sidebar beneath 'personal profile' are links for editing your Signature and Avatar (The little pic by your name is called an avatar)
  22. Another update is up, the most interesting changes being trains on the track, and the rockpools people have been talking about: http://www.parkz.com.au/photos/AU/Gold_Coa...433-Jet-Rescue/
  23. I can't believe this, but Surfrider was closed again tonight, with the train nowhere in sight. What a lemon.
  24. It always tends to be an illusion of how close you are to the ground, but in reality rides are always built so that nothing is in the way of the safety envelope. There is one coaster that lets you touch the water though: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files...orld_16_100.jpg
