  1. ^Ah well, its only a minor issue, but what you describe will probably be what will happen. Sit in the front on this one Its no different to say Corkscrew, where the back cars go faster around the turn at the top of the lift hill than the front ones, because the front cars are already speeding up down the drop while the back cars are still going around the turn.
  2. Here's a shot showing a few positions on the page: http://www.parkz.com.au/profile.html
  3. More stuff: -That new "This ride is a work in progress" image shows up on all ride profiles. -The front page of the site has hit the sweet spot, its more balanced, and solves that problem of whole updates getting shunted, plus its easier to keep track of specific projects. So I'm guessing what it does is finds the last 5 attractions to have construction photos uploaded...not sure on the ordering critera though (Wheel of Brisbane is 3rd instead of 5th) -IMO the page that monitors your submissions is the best looking on the site in terms of design. It would be cool if the title bars you made could become the theme across the site somehow. -But on that page, it still says for me: If line 331 gets fixed then my page will look perfect....like a nice tidy list written by someone with OCD. One last thing, I'm not trying to bag you out or anything, and I'm probably at fault here by not paying enough attention when I put stuff up, but often photos get through with mistakes (Be it tags, or spelling/grammar errors), which can make the approval process seem a bit redundant. You've mentioned that mass approve thing you do...does that allow things to go unnoticed?
  4. No, because the roof is the dominating element.
  5. Ah, Freak 'n' Fall was the mini slogan for the ride (Like Mad 'n' Massive for Tornado), I saw it on a bus shelter yesterday and last night I was racking my brain trying to remember what it was. So, opens in 6 days time, I reckon I'll have to head down. One other thing, but I think the shade structure on the platform was a missed opportunity, they should have gone with an Asian style roof...Combined with the red structure it would have gotten a bit of a Japanese feeling across. I mean, still have it as shade cloth, but the metal framework should have had those curved ridges, instead of the dome type thing they decided to go with. See http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/US/Orlando/E..._Pavillion.html Conveyor belts?
  6. I think 13 year olds paying adult prices is fair enough, I think 13 year olds would be among the biggest consumers of the parks resources (ie rides) At that age you should be riding all the thrill rides, but at the same time you are still young enough for some of the kids stuff. Remember, a 13 year old is a teenager, so definitely not a child anyway. Ticket prices though in general are going up a bit much...above CPI anyway, and I think some of the more recent price hikes were unjustified, mainly because they took place before any of this years new rides were open.

So if shrek, with one 3D screen uses $100k a year in lamps, would that mean something like Spiderman (considering the projectors in that are continuous duty) would use $1Mil+ in lamps alone?
  8. I got the fun of riding the monorail and log ride to get those pics. On a side note, I loled in the flume queue when a ride op (Do you know a Lionel?) wouldn't let a group of two ride alone (they didn't want another pair in the boat)...."Dude, there's like 100 people in the queue, I cant do it" The pair reluctantly agreed in the end.
  9. They have been up for a little while now, but I had a lot of photos today so they have long been shunted off the main page. http://www.parkz.com.au/photos/AU/Gold_Coa...r/construction/ PS Richo, that construction sign thing on the attraction profile page is really cool, but the paint splats could have been brown (like mud on a construction sign)...Or is it more of a rave construction site?
  10. Well, its done now. DjRappa wins: They have put a barge board and gutter brackets in on the Harry Potter shop. Well, after seeing it in person it is indeed better than I expected....I don't hate it which is the main thing. Its not that dark in there...its sort of 'white'...if you have ever been to a conservatory in a botanical garden you'd have some idea of the feeling. It has the effect of making everything in Main St feel larger than life, kind of an interesting effect. Most interesting for me is the impressive box gutter that runs over the garden to the locker area: Also, they have put in a roof somewhere else, a big one over the bus area out the front of the park, in the same style as the main st roof. I actually emailed Translink over the lack of a bus shelter a few months back after being caught out in a downpour with a few friends at the end of the day (I commented that SW has them, so MW should too) Did I sway them? we may never know....
  11. I think space limitations have forced them to split the brake run in half, the first bit will knock off most of the speed (so its more like a trim brake), but it will sill go around the turn a bit fast (hence it being banked) but the last section will be where the actual block is (where the train can be stopped) and last bit of speed will be knocked off here.
  12. Ok, some updates. First thing, I was able to get pics of the trains. As I was heading out I spotted a bunch of containers over on the eastern side of the car park...BUT, one was ajar and I could see a white thing in it, Immediately i knew it had to be the jet skis (I reasoned a real jet ski used in shows wouldn't be delivered in a container) I jogged over quickly before some worker or the wind shut it (Skyway was closed because of the winds) Now, I'm not stupid, I kept my distance and didn't trespass, didn't try to open the door wider or anything like that. I took the best pics I could from where I was, so unfortunately no nose cone. I walked down to Maccas for a bite, and when I came back for the bus back to Helensvale station I went back to where the containers were to see if the wind had blown it open more or anything, but it was shut so that was it. Right place at the right time I guess. But yay, they have followed the KISS principle in designing them, and they just have a simple lap bar, which should dramatically speed up boarding. In terms of layout, its looking a bit like this now....some parts are still just footers, but its looking interesting:
  13. Because its not as full on wet as slides that land in a pool. Your feet, and bum get wet at most. PS Richo, first photo of it that I uploaded was incorrectly tagged (Forgot to give it construction and Kamakaze tags)
  14. Stay tuned for some photos (When Admins approve them) A lot can happen in a few days, and the set is going up, the logo is on the fence (Very futuristic, almost Dr Who in style) and the price appears to have balooned...Now $10Mil. Therefore it has to be at least half as good as AOS On the carpark training track, the only thing I saw was a red VN Commodore with one of those extra wheels on the side of the car that lets it drive sideways...it was parked at the time though.
  15. ^Hang on, so what was the reasoning for opening stuff part way into the holidays on one of the busiest day of the year? Hopefully they will get it ready at least a few days beforehand like they did with Batwing.
  16. That ground hugging turn looks pretty cool...little midget supports. I think the feeling of speed will definitely be there...With MDMC you can see they sort of attempted that by keeping the layout fairly flat, but they sort of missed the point by having the whole ride several meters in the air. One thing though is that this does seem pretty short...up and back a couple of times really. Everyone knows, sometime in December. Who is going to be able to say that? Edit: Wonder what is the go with all the concreted trenches...Is it all machinery rooms? I have a suspicion some of it could be for an underpass beneath the station for the entrance/exit.
  17. ^fail To be more specific, take a Gold Coast line train from Central, Roma St, South Brisbane or Southbank....Whichever is closest to where you are staying really. Trains run every half hour Take the train to Helensvale Station, it takes about an hour. From there you will have to Taxi it to the park (About 3km), the reason being is that since this is after normal park hours there aren't any Buses running to and from the park (They of course wind up at 5:30 or so ...Might be worth keeping an eye on it though, just in case they do decide to run extra services *) The Journey planner on http://www.translink.com.au/ is pretty useful, just type in where you are going and you can get specific times/instructions. *Question for the Screamworld people, but do they run extra buses then?

In the auto supports menu make sure you select "collision detection" down the bottom. When you generate the final supports it will automatically not place any beams in the way of the path of the track. However, if you are generating "Preview" supports, then it doesn't bother with collision detection.
  19. Ta for that...I really need to head down and see If I can figure out the layout now. Just a question though, what happened to that temporary shark exhibit they mentioned in a survey? Have they decided to go with a traditional animal exhibit instead?
  20. The stereotypical Disney bins can be seen by the tower in this pic: http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/US/Orlando/D...al_Kingdom.html You can also see a pair on the unloading island in this pic: http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/US/Anaheim/D...all_world_.html There's nothing really special about them, just a distinctive shape that they paint according to the area they are in. Nevertheless they are known enough for Disney to have "Push the Talking Trash Can" as a character in their parks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fbeaaz-HaiY...feature=related
  21. Yeah, I just double checked, and last year it was $20 ($25 at the gate)..so a doubling in price to $40 since last year....What a joke....I don't think I can really justify spending $40 on some street entertainment and a couple of walkthroughs. As people have said, they probably have increased the price because they sold out last year, but I'd probably attribute the sell outs to the low price ($20 was pretty good value, less than a third of a one day ticket) and not necesarrily because people were desperate for a Halloween event. Again, WVTP really need to look at their annual pass offerings....If you are paying hundreds (especially for the multi parks ones) there should be a few more sweeteners, such as access to events. The way it stands now it seems most offers are directed at MyFun subscribers.

Hmmm, The Aussie/Western theme seems a bit tenuous at best.....No doubt it would be an awesome addition regardless, but you know me, I'm a stickler for proper intergration....Dunno, maybe market it as revolutionary new type of movie? I mean Ideally this sort of thing would probably suit SW best (More internationals, the park is based around the natural world) but of course there are the height and space issues. I wonder if they would reconsider it...Intamin gives a breakdown of the costs of one in this PDF, $12.5 Mil USD does not seem out of MWs price range, and is actually quite a good price for the major attraction it would be.
  23. Yeah, do the fire one, because if you choose the plain red one clearly you are being lazy
  24. The Hollywood Stuntdriver training track from memory.
  25. They're offering Passholders tickets for $36...Is it worth it for that price? I'm sort of torn, I have never been to one of these events before, and I am interested in seeing the two mazes, but I have sort of already paid for an annual pass. Someone make up my mind for me.
