  1. I'm sorry, but a cheap, glityz, fairground (?) Town is pretty much what the GC is. Why on earth would you live there if you were opposed to high rise development. Natural place to live? In the hinterland maybe. There are plenty of other spots along the tens of thousands of kilometers of the Australian coast which are unspolit, so what is the point of stopping developments in an area where a precedent is already set? How is another ride on the SW skyline going to change the look siginficantly? The water slide tower and corkscrew already dominate anyway. IMO, they should not have a blanket 3 storey limit, they need to be more specific. No apartment blocks or whatever, but they should have a line saying it doesn't apply to amusement devices.

Not to mention Parque Warner Madrid.

    Theming.
  4. ^Yeah, you are right actually (G.P.E = m*g*h, E=0.5*m*v^2 .....both require mass) Kind of odd that the teacher would expect you to be able to find such a technical measurement yourself. Though I'll take a rough guess, and say its around the 4 tonne mark.
  5. Well, if it reaches 135km/h (37.5m/s) , and its falling at an acceleration of g (9.8ms^-2) then it takes 3.83 secs. Why do you need the mass? If you're doing the normal freefall calculations I don't see why its relevant?
  6. What is the reasoning behind the creep at the top again? Perhaps the tech guy who tweaked it was also responsible for the way Cyclone creeps into the station
  7. If you are interested in how it used to look, just check out the Parkz Wipeout gallery: http://www.parkz.com.au/photos/AU/Gold_Coa...eout/page1.html

  9. I never knew they made concrete pipes 7.8m wide. Besides, the issue isn't technical feasibility, its the sheer cost. Original is spot on.
  10. Really, it just comes down to local planning restrictions. I'm sure someone like Skeetafly can shed more light on these sorts of issues, but basically there are rules that restrict what you can and cant built in certain areas in order to preserve the local character, environment, appearance etc. It varies from region to region and country to country, because the world is a very diverse place. Building a big tall block of apartments is probably not going to be too out of place at Surfers Paradise, but imagine building one in a historical part of Brisbane.... Alton Towers has so many issues with height because the park is located in the countryside, surrounded by woodlands, so local residents and authorities are quite opposed to huge steel structures poking up above the tree line. It would be a pain for them, but it has meant they have been forced to come up with some innovative ways around the restrictions, resulting in some very unique and successful rides that probably wouldn't have come about if they were just building on flat land. But I think the water table would be a huge issue for anything built underground at SW. It really do think it is highly unlikey that it's for SW, especially considering they have already announced to staff that they would be getting a Jet Ski coaster. They also simply wouldn't have room for the significant amount of space one would take up. What makes you so sure it would be getting built instead of the jet ski coaster? . But remember, it's actually appeared on the concept artwork, making it far more likely to be going there if the park goes ahead. http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/index.php?a...ost&id=1606 This is of course, assuming a dive machine is even coming here.
  11. There's a whole heap of pics showing all aspects of the slide on the manufacturers website. http://www.aquarena.at/Produkte/Wasserruts...speed/AquaLOOP/ As predicted, there are hatches at the bottom of the loop, and the apex as these are both places people could potentially stop.
  12. How did I forget about this? Remember, Tornado was announced a year ahead of its opening http://www.parkz.com.au/article/2005/09/16...-Expansion.html So WnW had one in planning at least 15 months ahead of when the one at WWW opened. Lets just call it a draw, since nobody knows how early they would have hit the plan at either park.

^Yeah, but why do you have go get so uptight and defensive every time somebody makes a joke. You make it sound as if you are being singled out, when in reality virtually every thread on this forum has people not being serious or taking the piss at some point within them. Just remember, its a public forum, so in a thread not every response is going to be directed at or revolving around the person who started it, people sometime just post stuff for a laugh, so what, they obviously weren't going to answer your question or whatever anyway, so just scroll down and read the next post. Just calm down ok.
  14. ^Come on mate, you don't need to post for postings sake. As for the ride, it doesn't look terribly comfortable actually, i don't know why they would try making people lie on fibreglass when those rubber type restraints are far more comfortable. Then again I doubt this would have been much more than a mil, so you get what you pay for. So was this looking to be open by the end of this month, I have that free ticket, but it runs out on the 30th....At least this gives me somewhat of a reason to bother going down.

Id really like some picture of inside the Batman ride.
  16. One other little thing, will the community guidelines be back up soonish?
  17. I can barely understand your post. So you're saying that because Goldrush is themed to the 1800s, they should have a display of Dreamworld memorabilia inside the mountain? Meh, weird idea anyway.
  18. It seems as if Myfun has been updated again, and now features all their latest acquisitions, sadly, the terrible techno loop remains. Now that they have all these properties, it is high time that they started selling company wide annual passes that cover all their properties, much like what Six Flags, Busch, and Merlin have been doing for some time. If they aren't selling these by the time African Safari World opens, we're getting screwed over.
  19. And people make fun of me when I say winter is a good time to visit the water parks.
  20. But Tornadoes are such a common attraction these days, nothing more than a standard addition any self respecting water park has. There are 3 distinct funnel sizes. The 60 ft ones are at WnW and WWW (What made you think the WWW is bigger, other than an excuse to give another point to the WWW one?) There aren't any 45ft ones here (An example of one of them is at the Hersheypark Boardwalk), nor are there any Alley/Tantrum sized mini ones (Though WWW has one in planning)

I've already posted how to change track settings. I'd recommend giving the manual a read over too.

Remember, one station segment (and one brake segment for that matter) represents a block. The number of blocks must exceed the number of trains by one (so running 3 trains would need at least 4 blocks) If you want a station capable of holding several trains, then you need to have multiple station segments, each long enough to fit the train in fully. So really, a multi train station is just a bunch of stations in a row.
  23. It is the point, since it's not one company going into huge debts funding a large scale expansion programme, but rather individual companies funding their own parks. That's how it differs. In other words, Universal aren't going to suffer if this park fails. But anyway Six Flags isn't/wasn't failing just because of its debts, there were a whole lot of fundamental problems with their parks that led them to do so poorly....I remember the days when they were absolutely canned by enthusiasts, so imagine what the general public was thinking. Same thing with Disneyland Paris, it did poorly in its early years because of problems with how it was operated, namely how well it was catering to the French market. What point are you making then (Sine I obviously missed it ), you make it sound as if a park chain expanding makes it doomed to fail, but this is not the case, if its done well then there is no reason it can't be a success....what about Disneysea? That park has been hugely successful.
  24. Universal aren't building it, Genting Group is, so Universal aren't putting any money into it, rather Genting is paying Licensing fees to them for the use of characters, ride systems, films etc that Universal own. It's a similar situation at the Universal park in Japan.
  25. There is one of these looping slides operational now. the vid shows how it addresses all of the issues brought up here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TGmBrYpZag
