  1. ^I wouldn't say that Cyclone is worse than LW, the main reason being that the restraints don't go past your ears like on LW. As for intensity of GD versus BW, on paper they both pull 4 gs, though GD is 'scarier' because of its height. Come on guys, don't be pussbags.
  2. There are some reviews on this page: http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/index.php?s...0&start=350
  3. That didn't stop WWW being built. I personally don't have an issue, IMO for too long Australia has had too few water parks, they shouldn't be something you have to travel from interstate to visit, but rather something servicing a local area. We are starting to see a bit of a shift with places like Jamberoo and Adventure Park adding water parks, but really, most major touristy areas, and largish cities should have at least one. Whoever goes through the annual reports or whatever can correct me on this, but water parks are mostly targeted at locals anyway. People visiting/living on the Sunshine coast do have a bit of a trek to WnW, so perhaps its just catering to another market. I'm sure one is in the pipeline. They could go for a bit of an 'Aussie' theme perhaps. Again, these two issues didn't stop WWW going ahead.
  4. Yeah, Tower of Terror is definitely less powerful (160kmph/7 secs = 0.64g , compared to superman 100kmph/2 secs = 1.4 g ) Going downwards on GD is a bit different to Batwing: you arent ejected out of your seat, you just freefall and feel weightless, so less intense, though the height probably makes up for it. The Claw doesn't really make you sick...have you ridden Surfrider? Thats the best comparison I can make...the Pirate Ship at SW is another somewhat similar experience, though a bit amped up. Bottom line, the duration isn't long enough for you to have a vommie. As said above, at the top of each swing you get that floaty feeling, I guess like the at the top of Batwing. Cyclone is nothing bad at all, nor is Wipeout. But yeah, just throw yourself in and ride stuff without thinking too hard, It's all perfectly safe and really fun. I mean you have done Superman etc, so there is really no reason to worry about anything else given you have tackled then. One of us, one of us, one of us!

I always thought number 1 was the most addictive...its structure meant there was an actual game to finish, rather than the open ended designs of the more recent two, and I guess since it was the first one it was more novel, and hence more likely to suck you in.
  6. Either that or MW inherits the biggest kids area known to man.
  7. Well, it's playing the odds on a ride like that really, you want your bum on a seat before it breaks down (I did this on X for instance). Personally, Inverted coasters are the only thing I bother waiting for front row on, other times I just go straight to the back, or cheat and sit in the second row.
  8. Yeah, but if you visit Disney's Animal Kingdom, and you ride everything then you are done before lunchtime there too, but I sure as hell wouldn't say DW is better because of it. I don't really care if one park has more rides than the other, because if they aren't memorable or high quality then what's the point.

  10. See, its that type of mindset that resulted in MDMCs bland layout....They tried too hard to make it like a racing circuit and the net result was a layout full of nothing but turns and gradual rises and falls. Who cares if jetskis don't fly....that's not the point, the point is to give priority one to a good layout, and priority two to fitting in with the theme the ride vehicle provides. Personally, I think rides like Piraten and Kawasemi give good examples of the sort style I would like to see (though obviously with reduced height) Now, ignore the big high up bits of track, and you can sort of see what I am getting at, just a layout with quick directional changes, lots of pops of airtime, and non wide turns.
  11. Well, id be pretty darn annoyed if we wound up with a direct clone, though given the nature of the site that seems unlikely.
  12. Well, I went down the park today and nothing really interesting is happening on site apart from more sand in the place of water under the bridge: Vikings revenge is also short one lift hill: Not a whole lot else was happening, the new penguin point looks nice, but the penguins seemed to have just congregated in one corner. The old enclosure is now a photo centre. I also met John Menzies today, but said I hello and little else. The other thing I did was go on Bermuda, and it seems as if the fire on the final drop is gone, and a lot of the fog (such as in the vortex at the start) is less dense.

That's what the third picture down shows.

A track switch allows a coaster to go along different track sections, often used on coasters with dual stations, or at the transfer table:

I thought that the Wild expansion for RCT3 had track switches. Of course, there are no track switches for No Limits.
  16. There are a whole bunch of food places on the other side of the Freeway (McDonalds, KFC, Dominos, Eagle Boys, Subway plus a number of independent places) I would say it isn't worth it, for the amount of time you will waste could be better spent getting the full value out of your park ticket. As far as food goes at MW, it's overpriced, but pretty decent. The best quality/value can be had by eating at the parks sit down restaurant, Ricks Cafe Americain.
  17. ^Isn't that really just a sideways marvin the martian? The one thing is though, if you already had a music related ride, would you really need a second one that would immediatley be overshadowed. There is no getting around that it doesn't really differ from what is already at carnivals. Plus where is the theming/story. I do think a flat ride or two wouldn't hurt for MW, but I would never want to see anything like Ocean parade where its just full of spin and spews.

Yeah but he asked you to stop, maybe all he wanted was a proper answer, not 3 posts worth of weird movie references.

Wait, so you're saying you did the whole thing where you go through the library, and see batman talking to you in the Batcave, but chickened out when it came to the actual simulator part? Why? I'ts not scary at all. I fuzzily remember riding the original for the first time when I was 4 and came off fine at that age. Though if the mild movement of the ride is too much you are able to go on a motionless version version of the ride at certain times of the day. Though if claustrophobia is an issue I can see why you might want to avoid it. The current ride film looks like this: The best I could find for the old one is this one, while it the version that was at the German Movie World, the vision is the same:
  20. Also worth pointing out is the Universal 2 park ticket, which is worth $79.99 USD for 7 Days access...very cheap, and it appears they have dropped the price since I visited because the 2 park ticket was $99 when I went. Its a worthwhile option since that's a little bit over $11 a day. The Busch Gardens and SW one is $89, again for 7 days but that price includes the shuttle over to Busch. So thats $170 for 7+7 days of access...a bit better value since it isn't worth paying out the $110 difference for the two water parks when individual tickets for them would then only be $80 all up (With WnW still having 14 days access)
  21. Mozzie Musta, Of course I am.
  22. If you didn't want to go too far a field to ride one you could always go on the one at Aussie World.
  23. Hey, as soon as I turned 18 I got my adult passport and jetted off a couple of months later. It I know how frustrating the wait is to be able to go on trips like this, but get a job as soon as you are old enough and you will easily be able to afford one when the time comes, so you can head off and do your own thing, spending as much or as little as you like, and without all the faffing associated with trying to travel with the rest of your family.
  24. Haha brings back memories of my 30 minute visit to the park earlier this year, where I took a single ride of Kraken in the back seat (awesome I didn't get to ride JTA at all since it was undergoing maintenance...what is the 'coaster' section like on it? I was however forewarned about that front seat tidal wave on the mini drop, though of course I never ended up having to worry. Didn't make an effort to see anything else in the park given I had seen it in San Diego a few days earlier and I really did have to be getting back to IOA. Could you see much going on with the new coaster?....that has put the park back on my radar, so I must see the place 'properly' again at some point down the track.
  25. You can always return though, and from memory you can even gain your school leaving certificate (whatever it is called up here) at TAFE, so you don't have to hold it as a regret forever if you don't want to.
