Bounty's (Pirate's) Revenge in Malaysia Photos
Well, this is the company that ran WL, so I wouldn't expect anything better from them.

But Big Thunder Mountain isn't a wooden coaster. But you are saying that on the assumption Dollywood would just freely give them their theme for the ride. Remember, all the ride manufacturer does is build the track and vehicles for the ride. It is up to the park to get other companies in to do the theming work around the ride, so if MW wanted a ride like mystery mine they would still have to do the theming work themselves. Eurofighters dont 'come' with a Western theme. The Vekoma website gives the dimensions as 82.8 x 57.3 which is fairly large, and that is for one of the smaller layouts (Have a look at a bigger one like Mammut at Gardaland!) In what way do you mean It wouldn't have to take up as much space? One clear feature with mine trains is that they rely heavily on twists, turns and spirals. Another feature is the fact they often have extensive mountain theming to go with them, essentially turning the ride area into a big block really only usable for the ride itself. Some wooden coasters do this, notably the GCIs: However, since the main aim of a lot of wooden coasters is to provide airtime the layouts are instead more out and back: Now, with two shapes of a given perimeter, the long narrow one will always take up less square meters of total space then a more square shaped one, so the case may be that an out and back wooden coaster would take up less space than a comparable mine train. And hey, thats the whole reason I wan't a wooden coaster ahead of mine trains or whatever: airtime! There is also the budget reason, since wooden coasters are cheaper than steel. Fitting a wooden coaster into the Wild West theme is easy, just look at the number of them that have been built that naturally gravitate towards a rustic theme, and of course the wooden coasters at other two ex Movie Worlds in Spain and Germany.

I think a lot of Gwazi's problems stem from the PTC trains they are running, which really don't do to well on layouts with lots of turns, I really do wish they would run Millenium Flyer trains on Gwazi as they are reportedly much smoother.

I dunno, for me personally, the only coaster type I'd really be happy having a place in the wild west area would be a wooden one. Nevertheless Eurofighters do seem like decent enough rides.

Only just discovered that Vikings Revenge will be shut for almost 3 months (May 1st till July 20th) for scheduled maintenance. Anybody else think a closure of that period would also have something to do with the work on the new coaster?

Haha, thats like when they put an F1 car on the Pepsi Max Big One.

It's expensive, but there is plenty of better stuff you can build for the same price....or less. if I had $25 Mil lying around, a coaster that does just one trick (going up the down at high speed) would be the last thing on my shopping list. I mean even a moderatley sized coaster will draw the crowds. I cant see the value of building a record breaker in Australia, it just wouldn't have the same advantage as doing it in the US where the theme park market is more competitive and there are a lot of big players .

Scooby-doo spooky coaster
On my first ride ever on it the house lights were on, it really is just a big smoky warehouse with a concrete floor, If you've ever been to Bunnings when they are open at night you'd have the right mental image of what it's like.

^It lost its fastest rank when Dodonpa at Fuji-Q Highland Park opened. It lost its tallest rank when Top Thrill Dragster opened at Cedar Point.

That link is false advertising because it is directing me to a camera phone video someone took on Giant Drop. I'm sure the vid you are talking about is this one. It's even more of a depressing reminder to think that DW building ground breaking stuff was something they did in the past, rather than something to hope for in the future. On a slightly related note, does anybody have any photos of TOT when it had its old tower top thing that looked like a sort of cone shape.

PA Now shut forever
Nev I don't mean to be stirring things up, but while searching for something entirely unrelated I did stumble across this. Personally I thought the MGM show was pretty impressive, could have had a bit more pace to it but nevertheless still very good. The closure of PASS was always going to happen at some point, and with any long running show you've always got that fine balance between preserving old favourites and keeping it relevant. Perhaps they just saw it better to just end it on a high note. Everyone has had a chance to enjoy it many times, but there comes a point where its going to get a bit obscure for a lot of the key demographics who visit simply because they are too young to have seen the films. Then again, I felt a lot of its charm just came from the humour and quality scripting, and of course the stunts. I'd be willing to bet that a lot of the really popular aspects will be reworked and included, just look at the SW ski show, scripting etc has changed each time, but they still manage to include the same things like the human pyramid.

Behind The Scenes Shots
They definitely had some cool artwork going, does anyone know the company who has their logo in the bottom right corner (aga)? http://www.fxillusions.com.au/images/super...ke/target0.html http://www.fxillusions.com.au/images/super...es/target0.html It would have been nice if they had gone for the whole arched roof thing, and the eerie orange-red lighting colours. It would have made it look more complete than it currently is. Too bad the images are so compressed, you can just make out text in the second one that suggests they were planning on having an electrical junction box that would spark when the earthquake hits. It would be nice if you could see all the other details a bit better.

New rollercoaster for Adelaide Show
Im guessing from the stats given that it is a Painfari Zyklon Loop 42. It runs 3 twelve person trains, which gives you the 36. Still undecided as to whether I would make the effort to ride this if it came to the Ekka.

It looks like is the "Car Flip" effect from the now defunct Lethal Weapon: Pursuit coaster in Germany.

Need ideas
I'm still at a loss as to what RCT3 has to do with a Kiwi theme park with cattle breed themed coasters.....Just on that note instead of it being called Angus, why don't you call it Wagyu, or Jersey or maybe even Fresian? Those names are euqally as catchy as Angus. Are there imaginary planning restrictions in your imaginary park? I see no reason why you couldn't build the coaster in one of the other themed areas...Crackle Creek for instance could form a good basis for a mine or sawmill themed coaster, both of which are workable themes. Alpine heights could also serve as a decent basis given the existence of Successful alpine themed rides like Matterhorn, Alpengesit and Schweizer Bobbahn...you say it is a coaster like Fahrenheit...perhaps the beyond vertical first drop could be off a cliff face.

Hollywood Stuntdriver
That's the same story I have been getting, its basically so they can have a big long run up lane like what is seen at the Disney Studio parks in order to pull of the stunts. Aparently is extending up the other way too, towards WB Kids.

Thrill seeker
Stats: http://www.parkz.com.au/parks/AU/Gold_Coas...rillseeker.html Photos: http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/gallery.php?gid=20 (Look at the photos of the Taipan, Taipan is actually the original Thrillseeker, but it has been repainted and is now a travelling ride) http://www.parkz.com.au/parks/AU/Melbourne...Metropolis.html (Coaster with an identical track layout)

If that is what you were told, and plans haven't changed then that pretty much has it in the bag. In some ways both models share similarities (Launched, and featuring saddle seating), Aquatrax just seems like too much of a good fit for it to be anything else. Perhaps just saying "it will be like motocoaster" is just an easier analogy by which to tell people about it, since nobody would really know about the existing one of its type since it's in Korea.

Rocket Ride
In case you didn't pick up on the joke Joz was making, I was describing the Disko ride as being 'humble' (humble is an adjective, look it up in a dictionary), humble isn't the name of the Manufacturer, so that probably explains why you didn't get any results. Zamperla is the manufacturer. Besides, if humble was the name of an actual manufacturer, i would have capitalised it and written 'Humble'.

TV Commercial from the 80's (Cade's County Waterpark)
I'm sure it would have be in an archive somewhere. The thing is someone would have had to have taped a TV show back then, would have not been doing that thing where you stop recording in the ads, would have not taped over it, or lost it etc, and would have to own equipment to get it onto the computer, and from there would have had to have seen the potential for people to actually care about it on youtube....I like those odds! In other words the internet is probably the worst place to look. I mean, on youtube there aren't even any clips of A*mazing, and that was once one of the most popular kids TV shows going. Do you know the production company? You could try contacting them.

It wasn't too bad for me, but on one of my rides I managed to get my leg stuck at the wrong angle so it cramped up quite badly. Is it possible that they could just use the aquatrax train design? For what is being described I think it just fits the bill perfectly. Here we have a car that is already designed to emulate jetski riding, and is already set up for working with a magnetic launch, so why not use that? It seems weird to try and adapt the motorcycle train design with its tilting front section, to a jetski design....you wouldn't be achieving much other than slowing down loading. I really do hope they try to be more adventurous than with MDMC, they don't really have much of a reason to make it all flat turns like a racetrack, there is no excuse for not having a few bunny hills at least, or tighter turns, I mean the idea of a jet ski on a coaster track is a bit absurd anyway so no point aiming for a realism that isn't there to begin with. Maybe going over bunny hills could be like riding over big waves.

NEW RIDE: SPONGEBOB FLYPANTS
^To clear up that incomprehensible post, Avatar from what I can gather is a Nicktoon done like a rip-off of anime cartoons. Pretty weird name for a show, and even weirder is the fact the main character has a big arrow tattooed on his head. Interestingly, the Nick Universe Park has an Avatar half pipe coaster. Seems like a pretty crappy theme for a ride, just because it is possible to do a ride themed to something doesn't mean you should.....what broad appeal do cartoons like that have other than to primary schoolers and nerdy high schoolers.
