I think its the other way around, Teens have a large disposable income, thats why so many teens strut around in expensive clothes with their expensive clothes and regulary just buy whatever they feel like. Families, in paticular, parents have to worry about running the family with their money and dont seem to just buy stuff for the sake of it as much as teens. Still, im hopeful about this, but "New Attraction" could mean that, it could be a ride, but it could be a show as that is considered an attraction too. I think DW will have to try something good, Im doubtful about how much interest BB can still hold, and with MW, SW and WnWSC all rolling out new attractions, they will definitley be feeling the pinch.

Adam, The ride will use vekomas new track system, not train system. The red train posted by yourself is for use on their looping coasters with inside rails, not for expedition everest type track where the rails are on the outside.

Hmm, I wonder what makes top spin style rides and fountains go hand in hand? Maybe this could be a ride slogan "Wipeout: spin cycle with rinse and hold" So anyway, what are people talking about with the dragsters on TOT? are they showing TTD footage?

I can answer this. Bascially, you cant go saying stuff like "hey everyone, come to my site" because thats advertising. But you can do links if its relevant to the topic, for example, someone might want pics of a ride, it is OK to post a link to a site showing pics of the ride.

Because it is an Australian first and Intamin accelerators are all the rage right now, none of them have gotten bad reviews, apart from TTDs technical problems they are doing well. You also need to consider that Australias last looping coaster was built ten years ago so this is big news. No need to get so upset about people going off topic though KK, i mean, who ever heard of a converstion going for several weeks about the same thing, when talking in real life you can barley manage taling about one thing for 5 minutes before the subject changes, just let it flow and when interesting news comes in (Eg construction) then the topic will steer back. I dont mean to be smart or anything like that, but here is a bit of food for thought. When comparing rides, its always best to compare like with like, for example comparing rapids rides with rapids rides and comparing inverted coasters with inverted coasters. Going by this, it would be best to compare wild mouses with wild mouses. If you were to compare Scooby Doo with Mullholland madness, it would be fair to say that Scooby Doo is better since they are both mouses, so in the mouse category, Scooby has not only matched disney, it has completley beaten it. Comparing to another Disney mouse; Primeval Whirl, Scooby Doo again is better. So in conclusion, Scooby Doo is better than Disney in terms of Mouse coasters.

With Glubbos point about them being able to charge $40 per disc, well, that is coming close in price to a whole second day at the park and remember, most people would thinking "rip off" about the prices at the park already and would go :eek: at paying $40, i mean, $40 could buy 2 DVDs and that is like 5 hours of entertainment, versus this being only 30 mins at the max. I would buy it, but only if it were somewhere around the $20 mark.

Hmm, you could always put the flat ride indoors, for example, Chessington World of adventures has a break dance ride that is indoors and you shoot targets with a laser gun. And Paramounts King Island in the US has an indoor Tomb Raider top spin. So you never know. I dont even think we will get a spiral at all, not even a 90 degree one, the slope to vertical and the arch will most likely be melded into one. Then again, we might get a wierd top hat, where one of the drops is straight.

Flat rides can indeed look nice, take the Claw for example. If they were to be built at MW, you could put Facade around 3 sides with 1/2 the front side left open for viewing. the ride structure could be themed well too. the other half of the front side of the ride would be where the queue building could be an that too could be themed to MW standard, inside the queue could be TVs telling the rides story, they would be properly acted and shot at the studios.

This ride overcomes MWs space issues since freefall rides take only small amounts of space. And Scott, why wouldnt you want the ride opening in October, the sooner it opens the better (for the rest of us at least), and if you are away then, you could just go after you come back and enjoy shorter lines and less breakdowns.

Yeah, TRR could be improved a bit. Some ideas that spring to mind are, -New Fountains -More Themeing beside the ride -Spruce up existing Theming -Turn up the overhead waterfall at the tunnel (Prehaps by installing a new pump) -Get rid of the Dinosaur, its goldrush remember. -Install coin op spray guns. -Do something to make the ride up the conveyor more interesting.

According to RCDB, its opening in october. I might hold off a bit, maybe till november or at the very start of the holidays while the primary schools and 7-10 of secondary schools are still on holidays to avoid any teething problems that come with new rides.

Brakes, wheels, same difference. lets just call them "car stopping thingys" But anyway, its the same thing again, it takes less power to leave the wheels off then to have them running needlessly.

Im just wondering, is there enough room around where Batman is for a couple of flat rides? They could coencide with the new batman movie and could be themed to a few other batman Characters, Mr Freeze or Poison Ivy for example. These would give the park its "20 minute queues" and help fill peoples days. A new Gotham city area would also be created with this. And because its close to the front of the park, the rides would have a high visual impact facing out towards the road.

The brakes that seperate each block automaticaly close when that block is occupied. For example, say a car passes a set of brakes at the start of a block, after it has cleared the brakes they close, and do not re-open until it passes the next set of brakes, these ones close, and the first set opens. The brakes would most likley shut as soon as the block is occupied,instead of waiting till the car is near because it would save power (it takes power to keep brakes open) and because wear probably isnt much of an issue, i dont think its that frequent a car needs to stop on the main run-away part of the track because the dispatch times and block spacings have been optimised so this doesnt happen. They do this by having more blocks than required. As for the fire thing, its just stupid, If the fire detectors are placed so that all parts of the ride are covered then it would be more reliable than a sensor mounted on a moving object that can only see a part of the ride at a time. A fixed fire detector would find a fire sooner.

Yeah, there are quite a few mack powered coasters about, one that springs to mind is Runaway Mine Train at Alton Towers. But I dont think this system is in use at MW, its is just incredibly unlikley. It would require electrical contacts along the entire track, which in just realising this, I have just thought of another point, if there is this supposed reverse away from danger system, how would it work if there is no third rail to power the car at the section the car is at. Another point, on the ride, can you hear electrical motor noises? And also, if these cars have batteries to move them, then where would the lage space needeed to hold the batteries be located. I really do thing you were being had, all the reasons stated by various people sound way more likley than something that was probably said to get someone (Adam) bothering someone (The ride op) about the intricate workings of the rides saftey systems off their back while they tried to do their job (operate the ride) Tell me people which of these situations sounds more likley. SITUATION A Adam: Hey Ride op dude, what happens on this ride in an emergency? Op: Uhh, well, we have these back up motors in the car right, that get you away from danger, and you know those Eyes that look like LEDs, well they are fire sensors. Adam: Cool! Op: (thinking to himself) Hee hee hee, he actually believed that spiel. SITUATION B Adam: Hey Ride op dude, what happens on this ride in an emergency? Op: Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster features a complex emergency system, and I will now stop doing my job of operating the ride to tell you about it. But buying a new 9v battery every day for every car would just be wasteful. The LEDs might be powered by some other system, such as some sort of device in the car that generates the small amount of power needed for the LED. Are the electrical contacts you are thinking of just the block system sensors. If you want a definite answer, send an Email to the park or ask rabid as he would be able to get a straight answer.

Hmm, did you ask the op something like "what happens if this has an emergency?" The op may have just spun you pork pies about a second system because they might have just dismissed you as being GP and made up something to set your mind at ease, or to avoid having to give a long winded explanation on how a block system really works. Im with alex on this, the eyes on the front of the cars would just be LEDs, and only there for ashetical value. It seems very stupid to have fire sensors on them, what sort of fire system would have its detectors on a moving object that has to keep tranmitting to a base station, when you could just have fire detectors and fire retarding equipment in fixed locations like every other building in the world I really do doubt the existance of onboard motors, an until you tell us where you got that from, im assuming its made up, like seriously, i have never heard of any other ride having motors in the cars as a back up system. The complexity of the control system to get the exact location of each car, then decide on what it should do with each one (direction to go, how fast to move the car ect) would be huge, and it has to make the right decsion. Scooby doo would be no different from any other mack mouse out there, execpt for the fact it has triggers on the track for the special effects. The straight parts kenny metioned is where the block brakes are, all mouse coasters have a zig zag and it serves a utilitarian purpouse of fitting in several block brakes, while still being fun for the riders. Kennys description also echos how it really works. All the block brakes were shut so kennys car stopped at the first block brake it got to. The others cars kept moving because they hadnt got their respective block brakes yet, and when they did, they stopped. Seriously, it doesnt have an on car system. . So in other words this entire thread has been built on what you think a secondary system would be like on scooby. Your own theroys and not any info from a credible source. You may have just misinterpreted what you heard, rides do have two computer systems, each one keeping a check on the other, and if one fails, the whole ride shuts down. I think this is what is really meant.
