  1. Indeed, since $20 on rivals is a full queue skip, not just a VQ.
  2. Yeah I know it'll be tyre, all I was saying is that the tyres are powered by conventional electric motors, not hydraulic like MDMC / JR.
  3. The weird thing is, it's one of the most expensive apps out there. $15 a day for a bit of guest info that should be for free and ride bookings. Village theme parks app does all that.
  4. Why would they ruin the Genie character like that?
  5. Exactly, people cant go elsewhere right now and are hungry for localised fun, so prices should reflect that.
  6. Disney is in a weird position where they charge a lot and nickel and dime a bit, but at the same time the attractions themselves, the food, the merch are all really good and ARE getting better so people put up with it. In effect they have put prices up $20 because how else can you really enjoy your day now. You HAD to play the game and use FP to enjoy Disney, now that’s paywalled. Yeah I personally hate the loss of spontaneity. If the line is 4 hours for a new E ticket, I can wait it because at least its my call to do that (and to be honest ive spent 15 hours on a plane to even get there so perspective people) and can prioritise it other things later in the day. Like if I went to DL now, I would not stay mad if I had to miss space Mountain and Indy for lack of time, to get on Rise of the Resistance….#1 priority is riding new/better/innovative rides. But boarding groups and over reliance on Virtual queues muck with that, because if slots run out you are stuck riding stuff you don’t care as much about and If I knew that was going to happen I would go elsewhere and come another time.
  7. Indeed, most of the noise on the tyre launches here in oz seems to be the rattling of the train.
  8. So Intamin switched to electric on tyre launches since Juvulen and Yukon Quad, i think thats what bd has.
  9. Even though the track is coming together I’m a bit concerned about how all the other systems and regulatory approvals are progressing. I’m not sure how much float was built into their timelines, but I’m worried lockdown related delays could push it into 2022.
  10. Would be cool if windows are cut in the wall so we can watch the launch from the station.
  11. Needs to be >Pick your photo on the touchscreeen >Tap card to purchase >Type in either your phone number or email to get the photo sent to you. Edit: and obviously at the point where you tap your card, you could also have the option to scan your photo band or pass instead for free.
  12. Needs to be a zero g roll IMO, god damn a coaster here needs that element urgently. But I'm guessing Mack are trying to leave as much alone as possible, hence adding those wierd intermediate supports rather than thickening the spine. Re the spinning car. I would have thought it would have made sense to have an extra standard car that could be swapped out so that the spinning car can always be on track. Or IDK just order an extra spinning car if it gets popular. Operationally, this will work a bit better than DCR in that a train stacked can roll into the station and not have to negotiate a slow U turn.
  13. I think coasters like this could have the opposite of ST, a couple of foward facing rows, because the layout looks great and would be fun to experience in the "pure form".
  14. ^That's league.
  15. Im curious, if they have nowhere to go for the time being could they hang around and then have some sort of mini carnival when lockdown lifts?
  16. If they don't sell a "Big Dipper Pretzel" promo food item there is something wrong.
  17. @Noxegon make a website where the user is presented with a random theme park and must move the slider between theme park and amusement park or anywhere in between. We then put the parks on a scatter plot and write a dissertation on the results.
  18. The Germans have a better word, freizeitpark which literally means "Free time park" so no ambiguity there.
  19. I think the issue with anything is that there is stuff that straddles the boundaries. Like Dorney Park or Luna Park or Nagashima, squarely Amusement parks. Or Disneysea or Phantasialand or PortAventura, squarely theme parks. But then Australian parks, some SF parks etc straddle the boundary and have zones with themes, but some without, and then sometimes attractions that break the theme. And also, the other factor to consider is what level of theming brings it from amusement park to theme park. For example Adventure World does have zones (Eg the Nautical Zone, the mining themed section on the mountain, the devil themed zone and the dragon land zone but the theming is a bit light on, so it never feels quite immersive. Whilst old gold rush at DW definitely was immersive.
  20. I think Mack have a more robust system. In Australia GL basically picked stock music so it didn't really add much emotion and Arkham was so quiet and useless it was a waste of money. But yeah, onboard audio slaps when it's properly composed and matches the ride movement, like when you ride Space Mountain and there is this specific point in the soundtrack where the music drops and you go down the first drop and turn and its the coolest thing ever And even stuff more recently like Taron it just added a whole extra layer to to the experience for me.
  21. But I mean, I think the presentation of this already seems better than DCR. The lack of a connecting path wont sink or swim the ride. Re onboard audio, I've come around to the view that it basically a non negotiable for any major ride these days, if I were running the show I'd sacrifice other things to have it.
  22. DW already has probably an excess of outlets, many of which do not open, so it can make sense to have fewer outlets with high turnover rather than dispersing staff onto lots of little ones and have them twiddling their thumbs waiting for guests. Is a path really a drop in the ocean? Additional path and a ramp or bridge structure would be several hundred thousand. If you wanted to do it "properly", eg with -a bridge going through the loop -a hub in the middle of the reverse spiral -Landscaping and theming along these paths so you aren't walking through a field of gravel and footers as per Arkham Then it's a bit more because effectively its a themed land now. Once you let 2 or 3 line items of a few hundred k creep into the scope you can easily add $1m to the budget without breaking a sweat. I mean my view is that within the budget, maximise stuff like theming, and then put things like extra pathways onto a future ride budget once more attractions start getting developed that end. As the saying goes, you can have anything you want but not everything you want. My view is what we are getting looks pretty reasonable so far, queue seems well designed with multiple lanes, and even some high speed near misses with theming, so a bit of extra distance to get to Coroboree isn't too bad. Other ways we can blow the budget on a coaster -Additional rockwork or tunnels -Natural creek water feature through area -Onboard audio -Themed walls to cover adjacent buildings. -LED lights along length of track -Additional sqm of circulation walkways around ride -Additional shade structures, seating etc to these circulation walkways. -More detailed fencing, eg themed posts rather than standard chainlink -Enclosed station building with show lighting -Fog effects in tunnels -Theming (eg rockwork, painting or planks) to foundations. Not saying these are bad things or anything, just that seemingly small plusses quickly add up.
  23. Devils advocate, I could understand why the path would be left out. The coaster is the only ride in that area, when previously it had three rides, plus shops. The park circulation pattern would be as below: So the main benefits of the path would be better photo angles of the coaster. Non riders would only be going as far as the entrance, which is not very deep in the area. So hey, why not have everyone go back via main street and not walk that much longer, and hopefully buy an ice cream or some lollies or a coffee on that side.
