Planet Coaster
I think the easiest way might be to build the key coasters, without theming, then get them where they need to be, then do your block size based on that, because the coasters are one thing you cant really change the size of, so everything flows from them.

You can get Google Earth Pro free these days, and use the time slider to get different images. Basically, start off by drawing a checkerboard over your park using terrain or paths, then within that grid colour up the the important parts. Eg we know Main Streets central canopy is 2x5, HSD is 4x2 at the end of it. The Intencity building is 1x2 but is half a square into the corner of HSD etc etc. Map out the zones of your part like this in advance to get the basics right. This avoids that dreaded problem of working yourself in a corner and not having space to fit in rides you need. Then within each area, work to detail.

What if you got an newer aerial image and overlaid a grid in illustrator or something. Maybe 1 illustrator square equals 10 game squares. Use that as a guide Then rough in a whole park using coloured terrain to mark how big things should sort of be. I'd keep the following things in mind. -Looking, the shop should be about the same size as the GL station. -The queue path entry isn't diagonal in front of the shop, it starts beside the shop, in front of the lockers/observation. -The ticket booth canopy looks right, we can see its the same length thereabouts as GL. -I dont think the grand arch is as "deep" -The main "ride" section of JLs building should be about the same as the foot print as GL etc

Can you use a recent google earth image and do relative scaling (Eg the shop is about x% of the width of something nearby. The store at the moment looks supermarket sized compared to GL

I think other manufacturers have time on their side. Mack have only been doing big thrill coasters for a few years so everyone else still outnumbers them. Helix, Blue Fire, Flash, Alpina Blitz and Lost Gravity have all been well received.

Theme Parks in Europe
What about Efteling and Toverland? Possibly Walibi too? A good way to plan is coast2coaster.net then shift the slider to parks with more than 3 or so coasters, and that should get you the major ones. I think you would definitely do Europa, never heard a bad thing, and it is voted #1 park in the world. If you're in France, Nigloland ive heard is Decent. Portaventura isnt that far out of the way, only 80km via train from Barcelona. Have you considered any parks in Scandinavia? In Germany, add Hansa Park and Tripsdrill to the list of potentials. If you're in Rome there's Rainbow Magicland and Cincetta World, which both have good coasters. In Spain there's parque de attractiones and Parque Warner. If i had to pick two, it'd be Europa and Phantasialand.

Sea World updates 2016
They won't rip up the GC highway? Then how did the first bit get built I Certainly think we will se the tram get to OOL, or at least to Burleigh heads in the medium term. The tram is ultimately going to be the more useful thing because it links travellers with the coastal strip.

Just on the point about trams and roundabouts....the road rule in that situation in Victoria is that trams passing through roundabouts have right of way.

Sea World updates 2016
The point he is making is that if you do a spit spur, then you permanently lock in a situation where the best available frequency to each branch is every 6 mins (a tram every 6 mins from the spit, plus a tram every 6 mins from helensvale = a tram every 3 mins south of the junction to the southern end of the line. (A tram every 3 mins being the physical limit of the system) The issue though is that in say a decades time, only having a tram available every 6 mins on the Helensvale branch would be insufficient to deal with passenger loads. See here for an good explanation of the dynamics of serving a rail line that branches: http://humantransit.org/2011/02/basics-branching-or-how-transit-is-like-a-river.html

You could do either, but they both have flaws/positives. Cableway -More touristy -Less restricted corridor. -More direct for passengers coming from the north. -In terms of integrating with the existing system, you could do something like the Emirates Air-Line in London, where you can pay with oyster. Adjust the fares accordingly, eg have a surcharge on top of the standard zone 5 fare if needed. Tram -Single seat journey from the southern suburbs -Allows for extra stops on the spit...Eg stop at Tedder Ave, Marina Mirage, Sea World, Spit North. -As mentioned though, doing a spur line means you permanently restrict the Southport and Helensvale branch of the network to only half the system capacity. This could be even more problematic if they ever branched at GCUH and build the line up Olsen Ave to Harbour town, since you'd be splitting again.

But the point is, any tourist attraction has lower patronage on a weekday, that's part and the parcel of the industry. Be it the Southbank Ferris Wheel, or Ripleys or whatever. Often they combat this with special prices on tickets in certain hours. I dunno why you're singling this one out, lol maybe some one way ferries would be viable Also, if I were doing it, I might look at running from a station built into Australia Fair (which would be upgraded by then hopefully)...Basically, hop off a tram, walk through an A/Ced mall, jump on the skyway, and end up on the other side.
