Movie World really is a half day park!
It would be purely a safety thing, since DW, MW and SW dont have pools people can drown in unsupervised, but WWW and WnW do, so they cant let people in without full staffing.

day at www 24th may.
^I thought I was the only one. I like Cut Snake the most too because of that speedy final helix. Lol, so you went on the twenty-ford of May? It is 24th (twenty-fourth) so the thread title is right. Take the last two letters of the counting word and that's what you use, so "rd" would actually be used for 3rd (Third).

The Off Topic Topic
Something random I just discovered, those odd toilet signs at DW are actually 'borrowed' from Legoland. (Google Image legoland toilet sign if you don't believe me)...come to think of it the pictograms at DW do actually look a bit like lego men/women. Though evidently it would have been two obvious to 'borrow' some of the other legoland pictograms:

Dunno, I personally receive emails from them in two ways. I get emails for being a pass holder ("E-news"), and I get emails for being on the my fun mailing list ("Myfun Club"). I actually have the former going to my ISP email, and the latter going to my hotmail, not really intentional, but at least I can tell which is which. I'm presuming you guys get the pass holder emails, but not the Myfun Club ones...Only explanation I can think of.

- Movie World really is a half day park!
^I think part of the factor for it being a 'half day park' is that frequent visitors (which includes us) will find it harder to fill a whole day just because they know the park well enough, and are unlikely to get caught in any traps (Eg wasting time on a bad show, joining a ride queue at a time it is known to be busiest etc) and I guess also there is not much of an incentive for them to try to spend a day there (A holidaymaker can stay all day because they can, a local might leave early because they can always come back, or they have other commitments) Some degree of re-riding is necessary to have a good day at MW (If you only got to ride Superman once, you'd be left wanting more for example) but still a 'full day park' in its strictest sense doesn't have this opportunity. Not being a full day park isn't necessarily a bad thing (Just look at California Adventure, Animal Kingdom, Whitewater World etc) but it would be better if there was more to get through, though a side effect of a rides based park where everything is a 'major' ride means less rides all up and not a lot of opportunity to build filler rides.- Ferris wheel construction at SouthBank
Today I discovered I have a 3 hour gap between my Lecture and Tute, so I went into the city and noticed the wheel at the last second whilst in the bus.- The Official Jet Rescue construction thread
Have you even clicked the link contained in the email and done the survey?- batboat interior photo's
Charming. Your probably right though, if fences are there there's no problem jumping them. Next time im at MW I'll prob jump the fence under Lethal Weapon and grab the legs of a rider.- The Official Jet Rescue construction thread
If you've registered with them and get those regular emails from them then you would have gotten one. PS Richo, great article, but the two links at the bottom are broken.- The Mummy Live - Dreamworld
No reason they couldn't change it back.....grab all the tables and chairs, stack them up against the wall.- batboat interior photo's
Quick question, did you trespass to take the batboat photos?- Dreamworld Here I come
Movie World has two sets of dodgems, Taz's Hollywood Cars in the WB Kids Zone and the Dodgems in the Intensity Arcade. I think the falling out happened the day MW opened Superman to be honest. Its been done to death, but to me DW is a very bleh/meh sort of park to me...and Motocoaster carried on this mediocrity, I mean, other than the launch, name one 'highlight' moment of the ride. Like umm no, you like forgot, like Batman Adventure, and like Shrek 4D, and like Hollywood Stuntdriver. I like this joke. Possibly due to the fact they move at walking pace, and are fairly light weight cars.- Village Roadshow Buys Another US Park
But what is WnW's formula? Being the only major water park in a sun drenched country for more than 20 years? No doubt WnW is a great park, but I cant really see what sets their formula apart from most other water parks.- Official Kamikaze Thread
Funnily enough, that's what I voted for. I guess the dual installation is a point of difference to Tornado...No worse than when WWW put in two more bowl slides in when they already had the rip. The consistent popularity of Tornado sort of proves the public like this style of slide, and the opportunity to ride single is a plus.- The Official Jet Rescue construction thread
Hmm, and I can also deduce that the trains wont have any wheels.- Official Kamikaze Thread
From the Myfun Survey: The pic showed a pair installation (same pic can be seen on the Waterfun Products website, so no point uploading it) so I guess how that differs to Tornado. Names to pick from were: Kamakaze Manta Ray Tsunami Aqua Plunge Tidal Plunge Hydro Rush Chaos Avalanche Cliff Hanger- The Official Jet Rescue construction thread
Ok, I'm double posting, but in a MyFun survey I got this morning: The names they had to pick from were: -Jet Rescue -Jet Ski Rescue -Marine Extreme -Sea World Surf Rescue -Sea Rescue -Surf Rescue -Marine Rescue Interestingly, December was mentioned as the opening month, not September/October as previously thought. The other thing they are adding (another temp attraction/travelling exhibit) I'll bet this will go where the SW eye was:- batboat interior photo's
I already told you how to upload stuff in another thread: But anyway, uploading photos doesn't really need to be taught, if you just went to the photo uploading page and worked your way down you'd be able to do it quite easily yourself...its not exactly rocket science.- The Official Jet Rescue construction thread
Ok, so I gave the park a quick visit, again right at the end of the day. This is what I could work out in terms of layout so far. I had intended to bring my sketchpad, but I forgot so I just drew from memory and the pics. But this one has me wondering. When motocoaster was going up, even at the early stages it was easy to see that it was essentially a figure 8 style layout, just because it had two groups of rows of footers that were in big u turn shapes, and what we got wasn't too far from that. But here, it seems a bit more odd/interesting to say the least..tons of directional changes, very tight turns, and a huge pit with several rows of footers (I guess one launch will be next to the other) PS, anyone else find it funny our last four coasters, at every large park, has been some sort of Intamin launched coaster. At some point I might have to come in the morning, when the light is better, and I can do more than one lap on the monorail. It is hard to take photos at the back end of the site, because of the limitations of being in a moving train, and trying to take photos of stuff on both sides of the track in the window of about 20 secs you have when passing through that section. In hindsight I should sit on the left seat on corkscrew and just look off from there so I can get a better idea of what is happening. EDIT: I know this has come up a few times, but I feel like bringing it up again. Personally I think the notion that rides should be kept secret for as long as possible to avoid having people put off visits is flawed. Take my own case, had I not heard the early whispers about this ride coming, I would not have added SW to my annual pass. Imagine how many prospective annual pass sales they could pick up in advance if people knew what new ride was coming (other than the construction site they may have noticed during the day) I think a great strategy to drive people to upgrade annual passes would be to dangle the carrot of the promise of being to come back and try a new ride later in the year if they opt to upgrade before leaving the park. Say if somebody saw the new ride at an advanced stage, and decided to revisit as a normal visitor at a later date to come back and try it....good, great, the ride is doing what it is supposed to, and WVTP have gotten $69 off them, plus whatever they spend in the park on the day. However, they could be getting $110 off them now instead if they were to upgrade to a pass on the day, plus locking in future spending within the park on meals etc. Just seems like a no brainer to me. I think the best way to do it would be to put up signs on the construction area with 3D renderings and descriptions about the ride (Same style as what places like Cedar Point, Hersheypark do when they run sites about new rides coming) and right by these signs have advertising for annual passes, with a strong message saying they can look foward to returning and riding, with possibly a small discount to sweeten the deal, or some sort of other sweetener, like the promise of access to a special "first to ride event". Dunno, just seems like our parks have the wrong end of the stick when it comes to marketing upcoming rides...there would have to be a good reason other major parks take less of a secretive approach. Of course, I'm not even getting into the market of people planning/booking their holidays for this year (September break, or even over Christmas if they like to book early) that could very well pick a theme park holiday (Instead of another destination) if a new ride was enough of an incentive. Of course, they don't know, so they are going to go ahead and book their cheap New Zealand trip- HELP? I'm taking a large crew to Dreamworld from SA
If you are taking a group of 20+ people you can get the group rate of $46 per adult instead of $66. See https://www.dreamworld.com.au/files/pdf/Gro...rochure2008.pdf As for adults at kids prices, the only one I have ever seen was when they gave them out at Neumann service stations when you bought two Maxibons.- Surfrider to close during colder months
Well today Surfrider wasn't SBNO, but rather HNFT: Evidently they also discovered that paint on the floor of a pool doesn't work, and have begun scraping off the peeling paint.- Old Waterslide Tower in Brisbane
I could have sworn the reason these sorts of places closed was because people put razor blades in the slides- Spacewalker Shut
Dunno if I'm missing something here, but Space Roller is a flat ride, and Infinity is a walk through, what sort of incident could repeat itself on a completely different attraction? Something to do with the lights? That's the only common link I can think of between the two.- Ferris wheel construction at SouthBank
See, this is why I hate the copy 'n' paste. When/where is this article from? I first found out about this here on Parkz. and since then it has been repeatedly delayed. So is this just some press release from way back then, or is it actually opening soonish? There is nothing on the South Bank corporation website....a link from where this info is from, or some sort of indication as to whether this is a new update, or old news would go a long way. - Movie World really is a half day park!
