Portable River Rapids Idea
You should try and make your idea,I t wouldnt require as much know how as coasters etc, just make a simple battery powered buggy with an accelerator and brake, and a lever to control lateral motion, the lateral motion could be controlled by a simple steering system. for wheels, there is a very simple solution to prevent roughness, use inflatable tyres. The tunnel could be just a metal duct made out of the stuff they make public bin holders out of, you know, that perforated metal. I wonder waht you could call the ride, The tube twister maybe?

Portable River Rapids Idea
Oh well, Their ride looks pretty cool, but their ride resembles more of a waterslide type ride. mine was more of a boat ride with turbulence and fountains. It would be fun to have more of those touring around. Your Idea sounds prety cool, Maybe a park could actually have a JB themed ride about that part of the movie. A ride similar to what you thought of is made by wiegand, It is called a bobkart ,http://www.wiegandslide.com/en/bobkart.htm but their ride is not fully enclosed but rather just a semicircle channel like on the tobbogan run at the big banana.

thunderbolt update
Leaving the Two loops as a chilling reminder is a great idea. They are sort of a park icon. Jeez that bolt looks in pretty poor nick, Surprised the thing didn't collapse.

I was in the Daily Telegraph
I was kind of talking to Jaggie, but seeing what you have to say will be interesting too.

Sydney Royal Easter Show!
LOL, good one Daniel, Yeah, I bet the mega drop will be a Huss Shot 'n' Drop, which would be pretty cool, If it is one hopefully it will make its way down south for the Melbourne Show. On the other hand, you may be unlucky and find it is just a shock dropper ride, which is like an S&S frog hopper.

Total Thrills Wonderland Farewell Meet

Port Macquaries New Theme Park
So your saying the council is setting up a park, sounds cool, but would a council take good care of it or would it be WL all over again? Do you know where in Port Maquarrie the land is for it? On another note, does anyone remember the park that was apparently going to be built in Goulburn. It was going to be called Pictura or something.

RCT 3 screenshots
Atari have released some screens for Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. See http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/roller...oon3/index.html the game looks pretty cool and the screens so far show arrow loopers and a few flat rides, and the guests all look different. Oh and you can finally ride the rides. The graphics are fairly smooth. It looks as though we will still have the same ride building system as the coaster layouts still look the same. Heres hoping that the game wont wind up like sim coaster, but most of the graphics look pretty true to life except for the purple cobra slide. Im looking foward to the release.

Wonderland's Demon Coming To Dreamworld
Maybe DW could do something unique to the ride , such as putting it in a big shed and make it an indoor "in the dark" ride, It would make the ride less recognisable and DW could just rhapsodise about "Australias first pitch black coaster that goes back and fowards".It could have ample theming options, for example the obvious theme of a black hole. If they wanted to reduce the sheds height they could dig a big pit to hold the station and the bit between the loop and second hill. But i doubt if my idea would work, I have only seen Demon in the flesh once so i cant really remember the dimensions. It would probably need a very big shed. Of course, this is only if DW actually buys it.

Did the Article have a title something along the lines of "The worlds a playground", If it did than it was probably the same article.

10 of the best fun parks in todays Herald Sun
Why should melbourne only having 3 coasters prevent the HS from writing an article about theme parks? Melbourne has no tropical resorts, alpine chalets, outback stations etc, but stories about these sort of destinations and many more have appeared in the travel section. I think the article was pretty much a random selection of parks because some of them probably just made it in on one or two interesting features, for example Veega Land got a mention because of a "5 headed serpent statue" and Parc Asterix got a metion because it is based on the Asterix comics. It only had a paragraph or so on each park and a fairly large portion of each description was taken up by park history or by an uninteresting feature of the park. the other half was a brief decription of the park along with a short list of some of the main rides' names. Your right Richard about Tivoli Gardens, That is supposed to be a great park and I think Daemon will enhace it even more.

10 of the best fun parks in todays Herald Sun
In todays (29-2-04) Herald Sun in the travel section there was a feature on 10 of the best fun parks in the world (Just a note- It is Melbournes Herald Sun I am talking about, not Sydneys Sun Herald. It just had a brief description of each park. The parks were: 1- Mystery Park (Switzerland) 2-Moominworld (Finland) 3-Knotts Berry Farm (USA) 4-Park Asterix (France) 5-Movie World (Australia) 6-Alton Towers (UK) 7-Veega Land (India) 8-Port Aventura (Spain) 9-Bakken (Denmark) 10-Disney World (USA) The article also had some nice pics including ones of Trace Du Hourra, Pelirious Plunge and Lethal Weapon. Good to see Disney, Port Aventura, Movie World, Alton Towers and KBF made it in, But where is Islands of Adventure, Cedar Point and Busch gardens?

Crossover Coaster
Well it would be my dream to open a theme park in Melbourne, But I really doubt I will ever do it for a number of reasons, but I can always dream. I doubt I will do engineering because I dont want to spend thousands on a degree that has a very slim chance of leading to ride design ect. I will probably get into Architecture.

Ride Concept Drawings.
Yeah, sorry about that, I didnt bother putting them up again because people had stopped responding to the thread. If you could find them for me Richard it would be great, Im on a limited connection and posting all of them made my usage go over the allowed 300mb, and I dont want to get in trouble with dad again .

Portable River Rapids Idea
Its powered by Two giant water wheels under the drops that force the water around, and anyway the ride is way smaller then TTR/SRR, maybe if you wanted to cut pumping power down even more, 4 rider rafts could be used and the channel could be shallower.

Portable River Rapids Idea
I guess it would be arond 40x10m, but it is portable because we alredy have portable log flumes and because it isnt buried in the ground but rather in a fiberglass channel, The ride rests on a metal framework that can be easily bolted together then dissasembled. The channel segments would also be bolted together and have a rubber waterproof seal. The ride also lacks a resivior around the drops, Instead plastic gaurds are installed like on spash canyon. One thing I really should have drawn in was a plastic liner around the entire ride to catch any leaks.

Portable River Rapids Idea
I have an Idea for a possibe transportable ride, a portable river rapids ride, Of course I doubt it would do well here but over in europe it could work especialy in Germany where traveling fairs are popular and water restrictions may be less of a problem. The course is level all the way along, but two drops are incorpirated, but all that happens is the water keeps flowing under the drops but a lift is installed thet diverts the raft up ot of the channel up to the top, then down a chute back into the channel. The rides flow is maintained by a large water wheel under each drop, Other equpment is kept under the drop too, The layout has plenty of fountains, a whirlpool, overhead waterfall, rapids and waves (like on S.R.R.) The boats would hold 6 as usual but would have a set of Shopping trolley style wheels underneath so the boat can just roll down the drops. Here It is Also on the topic of river rapids, I think there should be rafts with outward facing seating or barge style rafts with seating all facing the same way.
