He goes on rides and keeps count of how many times he has been on them. Luck you don't have to pay an entrance fee huh? "The Bus is now leaving for South Mole-Head Entrance Light, Victoria"

Huss I'm surprised you haven't purchased the 2005 Carnies Illustrated calendar. I will try and find the pictures from it and post them. "The Bus is now leaving for Callendina Loop, NSW"

What are you talking about? "The Bus is now leaving for Talkirramurra Waterhole, Queensland"

I found this site www.bigthings.com.au. It has a list of all the big things around Australia. It even has photos. A few of my favourites are: Elephant (Nimmitabel, NSW) - Aren't they big anyway? Joint (Nimbin, NSW) - Only in Nimbin. Dinosaur (Richmond, QLD) - Big anyway. Cigarette (Myrtleford, VIC) - Great attraction for the family. Cigar (Churchill, VIC) - See above comment. Bridge (Warwick Farm, NSW) - Bridges are big aren't they? Ayers Rock (Karuah, NSW) - If it's bigger that the real thing then I'm there. Actually this is located on the site of the now defunct Leyland Brother's World. Anyone remember the theme song from the show? Slide Rule (University of Tasmania, TAS) - Hoyven Craven. Titanic (Williamstown, VIC) - ??? "The Bus is now leaving for Leyland, NSW"

Steve there are two things that rule the world money and the view from your place (in Sydney anyway). Money is very important here because people have paid a large amount for their apartments overlooking the harbour and a nice chunk of that money goes to the government. Now tell me if the government is going to stop development that will line their pockets? The people who own the apartments are very wealthy and have a lot of political influence. If they want to get serious I have no doubt that they could close the park down quickly. "The Bus is now leaving for Politic, Queensland"

Of course the Big Banana is cooler. It is in NSW after all. "The Bus is now leaving for Banana Bowl, NSW"

I meant to add that that was about the guests. Unlike you Galbraith I don't have a habit of putting large things where they shouldn't go, that was why you walk funny isn't it? "The Bus is now leaving for Penguin Walk, Tasmania"

I have been tempted several times to shove various ride parts, lap bars, height sticks etc, etc, where the sun don't shine. "The Bus is now leaving for Shovel Well, Western Australia"

Galbraith you are showing that you are a true north shore executive snob, it's Penriff. It's also no longer known as a 'Station' out there it's a '24 hour drug store'. If you can pop it, sniff it or jab it, they have it. "The Bus is now leaving for Jabiru Passage, Western Australia"

Yeah I remember now. There were two Yogi's and two Huckle's squatting. Damm I hated that ride, the music drove me to the brink of insanity. I had a kid get his head stuck in Jabba Jaw's mouth once. Luckily we got him out with out too much damage to his head, the sharks head that is, not the kids. "The Bus is now leaving for Sanity, South Australia"

Ner Ner told ya so. I never figured out why Merry was called that none of the characters were him. They were Fred, Dino, Jabba Jaw and Yogi. The Huckle was on the sign only. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that Alex agreed with me. "The Bus is now leaving for Nerrin Nerrin Swamp, Victoria"

I have done a bit more research and have found that Zodiac (official name)and the triple arm version were built by Intamin in the 70's. Wonderland's version came from Paramount King's Island and can be seen here. Wizards Fury also came from PKI. I wouldn't mind betting that Wonderland's Zodiac was the last one operating in the world. This site also has some information about the ride on it. Just click the 'Database' link at the top of the screen. "The Bus is now leaving for Triple View, Western Australia"

Yes Paul. I tell you with absolute certainty that Merry-Go-Round was named after Huckle Berry Hound. It was one of the first rides I operated and I have said "Welcome to Huckle Berry Hound’s Merry-Go-Round" hundreds, if not thousands of times and I nearly always stuffed up when saying it. I found this park map from 1993 with the ride on it. The next map I can find, 1996, does not have it. The movie was released in 1994 so I guess it was removed in 1994 or 1995. I still haven't been able to find the name of the ride but I have seen it referred to as 'Spider' but I don't think that was it's official name. "The Bus is now leaving for Map Of Tassie, Tasmania"

The park was maintained for about 3 months after the park closed, however it is now 8 months since the closure. Do you really expect them to be able to maintain the park? There are currently a maximum of 20 staff on site, down from around 400 when the park was open. Of course Sunway is money hungry, it is a multinational corporation, they don't loose money from assets, they make the most out of them. To think that they would sell off the land and not get anything from the assets on that land is naive and idealistic. It's time that everyone got over their hatred of Sunway, their decision was a business one and nothing personal, which you all seem to think it is. "The Bus is now leaving for National Falls, NSW"

World's Biggest Park Set for Sydney
Bussy replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Call me stupid, I'm sure many of you do anyway, but I don't see the relevance to Wonderland's closure. A green corridor, which is what this is, has very little to do with a theme park and there is nothing in that article to suggest any different. Yes there are going to be 800 jobs created in an employment park but if you look at the size of that compared to the overall size of the proposal it is very insignificant. "The Bus is now leaving for Corridor Bore, Western Australia" -
Update: No major work was done today. I took these photos yesterday from the side of the M4. You can see where the boomerang was, the uprights are still there and on the right of the photos you can make out the red crane that is being used. Can I just say that I risk life and limb to get these photos. A very large semi trailer came very close to hitting me and my car while I took these photos. There are usually three main ways of deciding these awards. 1. A vote by the other businesses in the area. A survey is sent out asking them to vote for various categories. 2. Survey the public, either by phone or person-to-person interviews. 3. A panel of 'experts' who look at various different criteria and which one meets them best. The article is here for anyone interested. It is absolutely ridiculous what is expected of Luna Park, they are expected to make several major changes within 60 days. However saying the park was there first so the residents are wrong is not correct. What about those people who bought apartments during the parks last closure? They wouldn't have thought the park was going to re-open. Don't get me wrong in not defending the resident’s stance and I find it, to put it nicely, pathetic. After every annual maintenance at Wonderland the same thing would happen. It didn't matter if it was a bit ride or a small ride. The main reason is that when you mess around with electronics or anything mechanical it was a nasty habit of taking a while to get back to the way it was. I found that a ride would run fine during tests, which they would do dozens of, but as soon as it was put back under normal conditions things start happening. I don't see any reason for Dreamworld to get rid of a popular ride in the near future. "The Bus is now leaving for Buggins Flat, Victoria"

That was the carousel. "Huckle Berry Hound's Merry-Go-Round" "The Bus is now leaving for Huckle Bore, Western Australia"

Alex is right. It was a three armed version of Zodiac. The park used in the movie was Paramount's Great America. Info from here. The park no longer has the ride in question. "The Bus is now leaving for Linger Longer Hill, Tasmania"

Trust me there was no fire damage to that building. The way the paint was done was to make it look like that, same with the insulation. "The Bus is now leaving for Doubt Fire Dam, South Australia"

Update: No photos today, but the majority of the boomerang has been removed, the only bit left is the 'down' section before it goes into the tear drop loop. I will see if I can get some more photos tomorrow. "The Bus is now leaving for The Boomerang, Tasmania"

I posted about this in another thread but I will say it again the only photos you will get from Red Rooster is that of the top of Space Probe, Bush Beast and the top of the lift of Demon. It doesn't matter what mega pixels you have, at the moment you won't get any pics of Demon being pulled apart. You will when they start on the lift section of the track though.
