Thanks for those great pics of tornado, dreamworld rulz. It looks absoulutely huge from the highway!! Just one last question to finnish off. How accurate is that date that you posted up about the opening of Tornado that Dreamworld Rulz posted up? This is because I'm going to the Gold Coast in September and i might miss riding it. I think i'm going around the 10th to the 18th, and if your date is right well i might just be able to ride it. If anybody has any knowledge of the exact opening date of Tornado and can post it, it would be greatly appreciated. CoasterBoy8

The Slide Running down into the Tornado Funnel is almost completed. I seen it today as i drove past, The Stair case is up too, Its all Blue. I will try and get pics.

It's not 100%. Usually when a ride opens in September it's usually the day the school hols start. Which is September 15th. (Here in Melbourne anyway)

Just two quick questions for mattcrombie: 1. Does the slide leading into the funnel do any fancy stuff(E.g. Sharp turns, like Pacific Spin in Soak City) or is it just a plain drop? 2. If there is fancy stuff, could you please describe it (Photos would be even better). Thanks CoasterBoy8

I know you didnt want people to answer this but I don't think they've started the lead-up yet. Only the funnel and the splash-down pool so far. I could be wrong but that's my impression...

Well hopefully the slide will be finished soon and they will concentrate a couple of months on landscaping in H2o zone.

E-mailed wnw and they said that they have no exact dates but it would be open sometime in september ( for the holidays). Looks like its devloping nicely tho!

Does anybody have any pics of the progression of Tornado and the tube leading into the funnel. I think I saw a post from mattcrombie saying that he went past wetnwild and was trying to get some pics. Yeh, I just had a flashback to when we were trying to get on the Jestreams last January and you had to squeeze past people holding the rafts for Sidewinders. The Cloverleaf thingys are like twice the size are they not? Why do they make the stairs so thin?

Great just what we need another 20sec ride. What's wrong with Aussie parks? Don't they know how to make long rides? Why couldn't they have it twisting and turning. Well done WnW for another quick thrill.

Those stairs dont look that thin, it looks like it would easy to get past people who are watching the the tornado. Dreamworld rulz the tornado has been voted the worlds best water slide so I think they know what they are doing and not just puting another flimsy fast ride in.

DW rulz, you could go ride Sidewinders, Terror Canyon 1 & 2, Black Hole, Bombora, Pipeline, Riptide, Cascade, Mammoth Falls, Calypso Beach (All the way around) or Whirlpool. They are all pretty long slides (Remember, some of the Extreme H20 slides are Australias longest). You could go ride them.... The thing with having a twisting and turning Tornado is the impact on througput. The thing can only have one raft in it, and can only do 4 people at a time, so it would have long lines, to have more twisting and turning like some of the american parks would increase the ride time, and therefore lines. Plus IMO all it does is delay you from getting to the fun part. I think it would be better if the twists and turns were at the end of the ride, because once the raft got out of the funnel it would be safe for another raft to go in.

The Tornado got voted that for it's thrills, not the length but if it only allowes 1 raft at a time than what was the point of adding just one Tornado? the other slides that have more than one get packed out as it is so you can only imagine what the line up for the Tornado will be like..

The thing is is that Tornados are expensive and space consuming so having 2 wouldnt be practical, but yeah you are probably right about the lines, though i think its one of those things you would only ride a couple of times, not something you keep re-riding.

when i went to WnW in Feb. I wanted to ride that single slide (where you lie down on your back) but the line up was near the bottom. Edit : It's the slide in the H2O Zone.

WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH TORNADO!!?? Everyone on these forums has been focusing on Whitewater World, Movieworld's new S&S Space Shot and not-so illegal videos so much, that we have forgoten about Tornado. Has anybody been past Wet'nWild or have gone into the park lately? I was just want to see what they have done with the area around it - in other words, how have they themed Tornado. And also, Have the nearly finished the slide and the staircase? If any body has new pics of the ride or just wants to comment on my post, feal free to do do. CoasterBoy6
