When did the Thunderbolt close down?

Featured Replies

Just curious becuase I never even heard of it, but then I saw some picture and it looked pretty cool, better than the cyclone.

It closed in 2003. I think it reached a period where it would either need extensive maintenance or be replaced. Dreamworld chose to take it down. I only rode it once when I was a lot younger. It was fun and on a large scale, but pretty rough too.

Replace might not be the best choice of word. I don't think they actually replaced it with anything. Cyclone was added a few years before they took it down. You can read about past attractions and stuff here.

Thanks DC :D
Happy to help. :D To bad I didn't get a chance to ride Thunderbolt for one last time when I went to the park just before the ride closed. No one else in my 'group' wanted to. Bah!
