Sliding Coaster.

Featured Replies

I recently saw an article in an industry magazine about a 'sliding' coaster. Essentially the rear of each carriage, which held about 8 people from memory, swung out when it went around corners. I don't remember much about the article so I’m not sure who makes it or even if it is past concept phase as the picture was a drawing not a photo. Has anyone seen this design? "The Bus is now leaving for The Slides, Tasmania"

It's not the Mack Tilting Coaster is it? http://www.parkfunworld.be/dossier/tech/pr....htm#funcoaster Looks fairly interesting, like a homage to the wooden wild mouse coasters that freely tilt like this ride. Also, from the looks of it, Mack are taking on after Gerstlauer, who have become very big on their freeform wild mouses (they're calling them Bonsled Coasters). This ride's unmistakably a wild mouse, yet it has the banked curves more flowing elements that appear to make these rides much better.

Unfortunately I don't read French so I can't understand that website. But from what I can see from the pictures it’s not the thing I'm talking about. If you look at my really bad drawing it may help. But what actually happens is the back end of the car steps out like a V8 Supercar in the wet, the actual wheel part stays on the track but the body moves. Also from what I remember it only happened on corners. "The Bus is now leaving for Backender Buttress, NSW"

Nah that's not it. The cars were on the track not suspended below it. Ok imagine a spinning wild mouse but with bigger cars. Now imagine that it doesn't spin. Now imagine the back half of the car slides out as it goes around corners. Got it now? Can you see it in your mind? "The Bus is now leaving for Pebble Mouse Creek, Western Australia"

From what I remember of the picture I saw it was like that with the wheels in from and behind the riders. If you look at the picture attached it might help you understand it a bit better. "The Bus is now leaving for Cape De La Sortie, Tasmania"

:) Just doing what I can........ Did you check their website out, how cool is some of their stuff? Shaun

Oh ok!!!! If guys go to themeparkreview.com, there is bits of this type of roller coaster in the 2003 Coaster Video (thar's actually what it's named!) but if it's not there just try all of them, they're all funny and great anyway!

Just looked through their website then and found quite a lot of words that have the letter X in them.... Anyway, hope this page helps http://www.maurer-soehne.de/en/ , and this one http://www.maurer-soehne.de/en/Amusement/X...3000/sc3000.htm and this is a good one from RCDB: http://rcdb.com/installationdetail1235.htm

Thats some nice use of NL in the screen LOL. I have heard the X car can comfortably hold people upside down for 30 seconds. Check out their rapids coaster too, A perfect melding of rides.
