DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion
Theme Park Girl replied to Richard's topic in Theme Park Discussion
More pieces in place. These were from earlier today during the Parkchat viewers meet, so there may be a few familiar faces (or figures lol) in them. Sorry if there's any double ups from the last lot shared by @themagician, it's hard to keep track of what's been covered and what hasn't. But yeah. Enjoy guys 👍 Still waiting for a support to be installed here lol: The brake run at the station: Looking amazing from a distance ❤️ -
Was just reading this article about the settlement following the Verruckt waterslide incident, stumbled across this at the bottom.... http://honey.nine.com.au/2017/05/05/07/54/boy-killed-on-waterslide-settlement/?ocid=9honeyfb And that has what to do with the price of eggs in China? 😒😝 Any bloody opportunity they get, hey....

Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017
Theme Park Girl replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think the term you're looking for is "unscheduled maintenance" 👍 -
I'd say that means the original recording is private property, the details of which can't be be commercially released outside of its intended purpose (ie. Scooby Castle music). Bummer. At least you tried though 👍

Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017

Not sure if anyone has paid a visit to Dreamworld or not today, but if so, could you please clarify whether the ToTII was up and running yet or not? As their maintenance page seems to imply that it is, but yeah, as we know it's been experiencing recent dramas - including yesterday. Cheers 👍 -

Took a couple of quickies driving past yesterday of the Topgolf site... nothing really exciting to report, although they are making the giant wall blue:- 499 replies

Lol... to be fair though, most of the criticism for MDMC has been aimed at the style and quality of the motocoaster itself, not so much the theming or the celebrity endorsement behind it. Although it kinda sucked that (from what I've read online) Mick Doohan wasn't even able to attend the ride's actual opening day. Not that he is an aussie celeb by far (maybe more so to us locals and other animal welfare groups) but Sea World managed to pull off Trevor Long being the face endorsement for the Jet Ski Rescue, which is actually a decent ride and therefore attracts a lot less criticism than its similar Dreamworld counterpart.

Dreamworld have been managing to do both just fine for at least a couple of years now.... I think it's a great way of demonstrating that you genuinely appreciate your loyal guests. -
Storm damage of Eureka Mountain at Dreamworld...
Theme Park Girl replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
OK, so I've done some digging this evening and managed to find out some more info in regards to what the hole in the Mountain is about. If it's true, it's not as exciting as initially thought, which is a bit of a bummer! 😕 Ive been told it's aftermath of damage done by ex-TC Debbie when she paid a visit last month. I hadn't actually noticed it until now, when @Twilight Zone messaged me and brought it to my attention as apparent evidence of early removal work. I'm sorry for the false alarm, but yeah... the only demolition work done here was by some serious rain and gusts of wind lol. That all said, I still think it's a worthwhile topic of discussion... it will be interesting to see if they bother to patch the hole up or not. I think this will be a big indication as to whether they intend to keep or scrap the mountain in future? Esp since they recently added that new door frame, as per @Skeeta's post above 😮 -

Speaking of membership cards, I recall it being said not long ago that Dreamworld were replacing their original ones because the first design included the TRR on the back? We visit the park once a week at least, yet still haven't been prompted to have them changed to the second release cards with the altered design. Heaven knows I've been expecting it... athough I do like that I still have a first release membership card since its supposedly being made obsolete now (probably for all the wrong reasons though, I confess!) 😳 -
Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017
Theme Park Girl replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, I have to agree that they do seem to be having issues with it... was closed when we went on Friday as well, with a staff member posted at the entrance. Today it was just closed altogether I must say though, on the flipside of its closure, the park has been pleasantly peaceful.... 😛 -
Took these this afternoon at DW after being tipped off by a member here (not sure if they want to be identified, please feel free to speak up - you know who you are 😆👍) but it appears that some early removal work may have finally begun on Eureka Mountain? Really not sure what the go is, but will be keeping a close eye on this spot over coming weeks to see if anything further eventuates...

What are reasonable prices for theme parks?

Right, well I've had a Premier membership since day one, so hopefully I can answer that... unfortunately there's no in-park food & bev or merch discounts with memberships, you just recieve a monthly email which offers discounts on their upcharge experiences (dolphin swims, AOS, shark Bay encounters etc) instead. Otherwise the other benefits have involved 'first in' opportunities for new rides and attractions - the polar bear cubs viewing is the latest one that has been offered. Sometimes they offer early entry into the parks on set days during peak periods. And they do occasionally offer stuff like kids workshops and a one-off entry to additional animal shows at Sea World prior to the park opening. That's pretty much the benefits in a nutshell that I can think of off the top of my head. ETA: the above is across all membership levels I believe. Obviously the next two tiered ones have extra features at an extra cost per month (Premier = 1x entry to every special event night season, Elite =all of the above + unlimited entry to WNW Sydney) but yeah, that's typically what you're looking at for the price and pay per month ☺️👍 -

There's another huge factor at play as well... cost cutting. Seems to be a big thing for VRTP in recent years when it comes to staff wages. Instead of keeping on employees that actually demonstrate enthusiasm to want to keep working there, have years of customer service experience, smile a lot and do a great job, that's unfortunately not what their criteria is for deciding who stays and who goes after school holiday periods. It essentially comes down to the cheapest now, which are typically juniors and school based trainees. Was told on good authority that all three parks had their biggest cull yet this year, with only a very small number of contracts extended past Christmas. Thr majority of them were apparently either or both of the above 😑👎 -
Ditto. And despite my prev post re. the differences in current attraction appeal between parks, it certainly doesn't reflect how my family or I personally feel about the park at all. Truth be told, we proudly visit Dreamworld all the time... have done so since it reopened in Dec last year, and also made very frequent visits even before then. My husband and I even make a weekly date out of it whilst the kids are at school 😂😜 Half the time we don't even go on rides, just do a couple of laps of the park, visiting the regulars - Luke, Lance & the other blokes in the sheep shearing shed (hubby will have a chin wag with them for at least a good half hour between shows lol) Lilly & Sparky the dogs, Goldie the eagle, Harvey the big red etc - and taking in surroundings. It's just our thing "to do", part of our weekly routine and we love it. No other park holds the same charm ☺️ Last week was the first time I had actually walked into Movie World in ages, same for Sea World when we made a family trip there. Both visits were very brief, to say the least. I made a solo trip into MW, and virtually walked straight out again after doing a quick lap (I hate admitting that, but it's the truth) 😕 Other than the coaster construction which can be witnessed externally, there is really nothing particularly appealing inside VRTPs atm to currently warrant frequent return visits. That said, we are firmly retaining our Unlimited memberships and look forward to that factor changing soon when things pick up a bit more later in the year (September and beyond... bring on the Hyper, Polar Bear cubs, Fright Nights and White Christmas) 😆 Honestly, what Dreamworld lacks in new attractions, it makes up for in charm and other priceless aspects. We go for the personal experience of catching up with numerous animals and staff we have developed friendships & bonds with... that's not to say we don't have friendships at VRTP as that's not the case (esp since I've worked for them multiple times) but the ones we do know usually aren't in a situation to stop and chat, or socialise on a personal level - VRTP are a lot stricter in this department. We've held 4x memberships for DW for over a year now, with no intention of cancelling - heck, I dare say that divorce would be an issue if I ever considered doing so, that's how much hubby loves that park 😂😜❤️👍

Admittedly whenever I do photo updates on my blog about TI2, they seems to generate little interest... only a handful of likes compared to the typical 20-40 that most others pull in. So you may be right there. Especially when it's an upgrade (rebuild of current facilities) rather than a completely new attraction. Goes without saying that the Hyper is the red hot topic atm, interest for that is off the scale whenever new updates are posted. Huge difference between the two.

@Brad2912 September, according to the membership email 😆👍 "As a Village Theme Parks Member you will also have the opportunity to be amongst the first to see the cubs when they come on exhibit in September. We'll send you an email with your invitation soon!"

Thanks @Theme Park Ninja! I was hoping to get a pic of that yesterday, but all the tradies were busy in there so it was virtually impossible 😂 Glad you managed to snag one. It's coming along great with the new front counter 😆👍 -

@Gary86 not new. They added that mid last year, after AndrewH broke into the ride to take photos. Just hasn't weathered down much since then.
